Maybe you can start by looking at what type of bike u wan? auto or manual transmission? How much you can afford and the coe left.

Insurance depends on age other than experience. So unless you want to wait that shouldnt be a factor.

Some questions for you to think about

1) Will you be going for 2A after 1 year or stick with 2B for awhile? This will determine how long you keep the bike for and thus whether new, 2nd hand, 3rd hand etc.

2) Whats your budget? New COE now $6500 thereabouts. if you want cheaper, have to look for 2nd hand.

To answer "Where do I start"

- What type of bike? (scooter/scrambler/sports tourer) Forum has alot of info start here.

My advice:

Buy a 2nd hand motorcycle, because high chance you might drop the bike accidentally, and scratch the bike, treat this bike like a 'practice' bike. Once you are more confident, get a first hand bike if you wish. Thinking of upgrading to class 2a/2? Then ride a bike with manual gear, it helps.

Your friends are right in saying that insurance will cost alot, because you are still p-plate. But that is only a part of the equation. Don't buy a sportsbike if you want to keep the insurance premium low. The insurance cost for KR is 1k+ as far as I know, and that is third party, the minimum you need to buy.

Also, I think it really helps to buy a bike that is easy to maintain, so that you can learn a bit about your bike, and perhaps do the maintenance yourself if you are confident.

Lastly, maybe you want to look at protective gears too.

it also depends on how tall ur...some who are vertically challenged ladies like 1.5m and below would be literally tiptoeing on a bikes even like cbf150 which would not be good for their self confidence and practice ....

anyways for manual clutch for 1.5m height and below....i would recommend and look out for yamaha sparks 135 with the manual clutch as majority are automatic clutch or suzuki raider 150. Personally i'm biased towards the second option as it is air oil cooled...cheers...

I ride at 70km/hr only...please please dont blow2 at me or overtake me dangerously....wait i change into Incredible Hulk n dont know why my little baby bike will always be ahead of u if u do that
