Hi,

This morning, while i was about to go, i saw some liquid dripping out quite fast from the bottom of my bike. After checking, i realised it was petrol dripping out from a small tube at the bottom. But when i switched off my fuel tab the dripping slowly subsided. Does anyone knows how to fix this problem without going down to the workshop??

Is the tube supposed to have a loose end? Or is it supposed to be connected to something??

I did not have this problem few days ago(New Year's eve) and after a few days of not riding, this problem came -.-

Couldnt upload the pic i took, so if need more info, please fire away! lol

Hope to receive help, thanks!!

if u forget to switch it off, your carb gonna overflow, and u need to service your carb. the petrol tube to feed your carb should not be loose. theres suppose to be 2 losing end tubes. 1 is for excess petrol, 1 is for excess engine oil.

if you know how to take out your carb, get the excess petrol at the bottom. make sure theres no water (due to rainy season). try a few rounds. check your plug ; black tip (too much petrol feeding to the carb)

white tip (less petrol, may result to piston jammed)

brown tip (perfect)

hope this helps.

Obviously my friend , you are completely a new bie. My suggestion after learning from some riders here, please go to a shop other than the one you went and spent a little to save your life.

When i started riding this bike, there were a few times where i forgot to switch the fuel switch off but nothing happened. I went to google and i think the problem is what they say that the needle/float/hinge inside the carburetor got problem so the fuel build up and flow out from the overflow tube.

As for taking the carburetor out, i think i better dont do that haha. and i also dont have the spare parts.

Ya, i am very very new! No family members nor friends who ride motorbikes also =(

I am thinking where can get to learn all these basic troubleshootings and repairs? How do you all learn to fix small but annoying problems? Sometimes i see people doing their own repair/maintenance at the void deck or carpark makes me wonder how to learn? (Dont tell me ask friends la haha) Web? Magazine? What magazine? Class/courses? lol

Bike is ZS 150 GY-10

I find that riding this bike is pretty ok, the feel la. But all these problems.....

depending on the machine, taking out of carburetor can be quite easy. class 2b bikes as example. many riders in this forum can do such job. the best is you need to specify what your ride (motorbike) is , then others can help you. youtube is great learning tool but best is to send it to shop and learn from the mechanic what is the problem.

ugh. china bike. expect the problems to keep coming.

realistically, you have to expect the problems to keep coming.

honestly, you need to at least know all maintenance stated in manual. i myself am not mechanically inclined; anything not in the manual i bring to shop. i donno how to change carb or even spark plug. i dont care if ppl call me an |d|iot. but i will know the manual inside out. occasionally i will learn extra from extra reading such as websites or magazines.

one suggestion is when you bring to workshop, hang around the mechanic when he do your bike. some good and nice mechanics will be happy to explain stuff while he works.

It's true: it's more fun to ride a slow bike fast than to ride a fast bike slow. Admittedly, though... It is MOST fun to ride a fast bike fast!

haha i also didnt really want to buy China stuff, but it was cheap!! plus insurance only slightly more than S$3K!! COE until 2019!! (but i never intend to ride till then)

Do they give manual even buying used bike?

Honestly speaking, i never knew that a manual is given when you buy a vehicle: car/motorbike/whatever lol!!

I will ride my bike down to do repair this Saturday, will the petrol still leak while on the move? The person say if tow need to pay $35, but repair is free. My tank still got half-full of petrol lol!

how far is the shop? how fast is the petrol leaking. if full, how long it drips to go half-full. many question and as a new rider you have to experience and try your luck.if the nearest petrol station is more nearer go there first and fill up then go shop

I stay in Woodlands, shop at Serangoon Road. I intend to chiong via BKE then PIE.

I would say it is a fast dripping, not flowing or gushing, just drip quite fast.

If i am on the move, especially going at >70km/h, the dripping should slow down right? Since the fuel is being used at a much faster rate than when the engine is idling.

i thought so serangoon. am very sure the shop is name G@@. its difficult to know if your bike will last the journey without seeing the problem. either get a fellow rider or get a empty 5litre tin-can and fill up with petrol.

haha Have you bought bikes from them before?

I think you better send your bike to the workshop. This type of problem is very critical and require expert attention to come up with good fixing solutions.

ya i will, by riding the bike to them lol

yup.once . happens similarly like you. brought home . cannot start. towed, paid myself. they repaired it. the mechanic monkey. i suspect sloppy work.

u can start servicing with small bikes first...it wld be fun..go bike shop for servicing and watch them do.....later when u buy bigger bikes like 250cc or above bikes....try to source for a haynes manual for that particular bike online or hardcopy....as it gives a lot more tips, pictures and advice on how to service a bike compared to a bike repair manual....a bike repair manual most of the time is a bit more technical and more suitable for trained mechanics....

sometimes u may not able to do the repair job yourself...but at least from the haynes manual you can troubleshoot or narrow down the causes of the problems u may face....cheers....

I ride at 70km/hr only...please please dont blow2 at me or overtake me dangerously....wait i change into Incredible Hulk n dont know why my little baby bike will always be ahead of u if u do that
