Normally about 1 week plus minus will have lesson. Perhaps many instructors clearing leave for CNY.

Maybe after CNY more slots will be out. normally I will wait and see, sometimes some other learners may sell their slots last min.

Don't worry, once you start riding your body will remember the skills.

instructors at SSDC will only fail you when they see you still not yet master the skill.

You are in good hands at SSDC.

Thanks for the tip. I try to do that next time. Might speed up the process by a few months!

Anyway, passed my lesson 1 in my second practical just now! I feel very happy now and lucky at the same time but sadly my next practical is 10 days from now :weep:

To those new to the course, let me share with you my experience!

There were about 14 people going for lesson 1, and only 2 people were first-timers while the others (including myself) have at least went through it once. So the first-timers go learn with an instructor, while we we brought to the mini circuit by 2 other instructors.

After a few rounds of the mini circuit, one of the instructors picked out those whom he felt were ready for the outer circuit. He only picked 4 out of 12. I was the last one to be picked. Let me tell you, it is extremely crucial to be picked for the outer circuit first or not your chances of passing lesson 1 will be really low. Bear in mind only the 4 of us cleared lesson 1. (and fyi, out of the 4 of us, 2 had repeated lesson 1 four times! so don't give up. I assume it's normal to repeat for a few times.) To me, I guess what the instructors are looking out for during the mini circuit is your braking, changing gear and speed when rounding the bend. Confidence also plays a factor in my opinion. Just show them you are confident and don't show stressed/nervous faces too much. Show them that you're focused.

Afterwhich the four of us went to the outer circuit. In my honest opinion, the outer circuit is easier than the inner circuit lol. So if you passed the inner circuit, the outer circuit would be a breeze. Just remember to apply what you learn lor which should be quite easy. I won't be able to give you the details, but don't worry. The instructors are good. They will tell you exactly what to do. Just don't get butt-hurt from they jokes hahaha.

There was only 15 minutes left of the session, I thought that was going to be the end already. Boy oh boy I was wrong. There was still a final stage! You need to follow closely the instructor through tight bends and meandering roads, which was pretty difficult i must say. The most difficult, but luckily I didn't fall or anything. One of the students did stop and stall for a while, but the instructor still passed him. So be prepared! I didn't expect that one at all lol. note to self, read my riding booklet next time!

So anyway, after about 5-10 minutes, we ended, parked our bike and only 4 of us passed the lesson. Felt pretty good. The instructor gave me a few personal comments; he told me my braking was ****, well I guess he exaggerated abit because I did pass. But I have to agree my braking really needs to improve. Everytime I break, I always wobble to the right. That's about it lol.

He also told me I was the fastest among the 4. And he said that is very good. (but don't get me wrong, I was riding safe okay........ I think I was 'fast' because every turn I will quickly up gear to 4 and speed appropriately) So I guess fast isn't all bad. I believe my 'fast' riding offset my poor braking. So tip: try not to go too slow!!

Now the 10-day wait to my next prac... how unfortunate!

Take your time. I took over 1 year to get my 2b. Due to work and sch commitment. Now only taking 2a and I'm already over 30. Haha

Plus if lessons so infrequent will b very hard to remember and pass the lesson, agreed?

Plank is the hardest. Grab tight ur bike using ur thigh and look in front. Try to clear thru the plank first before thinking about the timing. Slope should be ok. Rev the trottle abit more den when u usually move off and slowly release ur clutch.

Slalom for me i feel is once u get the hang of it. It should be easy to clear. Plank usually is the hardest for most 2b learner i feel.

mister.shudder. Always check the website for update. There are ppl who give up slot and cancel. You can then take those earlier slot instead of waiting for 10 days. Keep booked slot in case you do not pass the first time. If you pass, u can cancelled the later slot without any charges within certain limit. I think max cancellation is 18 times. After that they will charge you an admin fee.

Hi cllau, i cannot keep the booked slot because in SSDC, you can only have 1 practical booking at any point in time...

And SSDC you can cancel unlimited, the 18 max is for CDC.

*cries* anyway i think the long 10-day wait is also partly because of CNY break. thanks for your suggestion anyway!

HEY didnt pass my lesson 2 just now. Haha. Damn it. Tbh I think the toughest part is the blind spot checking LOL i seriously dont know when to check blind spot. Before moving off? During the turn?!? When rounding a bend?!? I seriously have no idea. I also dunno which way to check blind spot; left, right, both?!?

Yeah besides that I got the hang of the plank after 4 attempts and the instructor also said my weakest area was the slalom (which i disagree). The only problem i have with slope is the braking part (a repercussion from lesson 1 i guess).

On the bright side, i somehow found a booking for tomorrow. Wheee!

Blind spot checking is when u wan to change lane or when u wan to turn. If u are turning right, check right. If u turning left check left. For check back, is just before u move off. Check away from curb, at ssdc most is check back right.

And check blind spot before u turn. Dont check while turning, u may lose control of ur bike. Its a v bad habit to check while changing lane or turning halfway, if on road in future and you do that. If there is a vehicle. You may get into an accident
