I think they are similar - jus that HIDs systems need more voltage to power up - so if yr bike electrical is weak u will need a relay to help consolidate power(voltage) to power up the HID balllast. cheers

Read the forum and give your comments.. Give a thought and think about it.

Personally i do agreed to a certain extend... Plug and Play kit is not as good as the Factory fitted HID without the projector type.

I am having alot of Glare on my bike and the lumniation is not as what i expected..well i spend 100 bucks on the HID system. Make use of it then!

oh yeah mine is a 6000K bulb...and sad to say it is not bright.

1: my stock reflector does not seem to be able to support the HID to make the light more focus and concernrated

2: a lot of lost light with my stock reflector design.

3: The glare is more than the illumination...

So guys who want to have HID on your bikes... do consider a few factors rather than the price.

you may end up with a bike with more glare and irrating to other than just a normal brigther and effiecent power saving headlight system.

I agreed with u mate - to install HIDs into halogen lamp casing does produce alot of glare. So ppl pls lower your light beam if u have to install HID.

Another point to note - pls buy of HID system from a lighting factory - configuration of the bulb light point is very important - all lamp casing throw light forward, but if the HID bulb light point is wrong then light will be thrown in all directions.

Factory fitted HID must come with HID compatible lamp casing regardless if it is Projector type or not.

not to be a wet blanket..guess many of us rider here seems obsess with the brightness and the colour rather than seeing what advantages it has for us... this is one information everyone overlook... it seems everyone is more keen on the colour, installation, price, bubl type, which bike can fit in..rather than checking will fixing HID will it really does wonder if your bike headlight can support HID.

Though some Halogen reflector maybe able to support other than that.. sad to sad HID maynot be a wise choice. A diamond plus vision bulb would be more sufficient

Dont get offended with my comment on this ok.. this is just my view.

PS: I too join in the bandwagon to see what the hoo haa on HID. Guess i got my answer too... :cheeky:

what are the recommended brands of HIDs system from a lighting factory?

How do we know whether our bikes can be fitted or not?

ok been following this thread and i came to the conclusion that instead of changing the headlight, another option will be to get fog lights and if u are handy, fit hid kit in place of the bulb. Of course u gotta search a bit to make sure that he fog lights that u buy are both pleasing to u and at the same time able to fit the HID bulb..... think i'm goin to go this route.

Unfortunately not every bike here can fit fog lights..... some will look a bit strange...... just thought I bring this suggestion up to other bikes who dun mind having fog lights installed....

cheers....

PS>> if someone has replaced the fog light bulbs with HID ones..... pls drop me a PM, need all the advice I can get....

cheers

I respect yr decision - but do understand Halogen & HID system are different platform all together. HIDs at 35w produces 3900 lumen compare to Halogen 100w produces only 2400 lumen. Heat is another factor. Most automobile will be fitted wif HID system in the future. Now all commercial & industrial working lights are HIDs - bec they are simply for efficient. Now HIDs can be spec at 50watt, am even thinking of a lower spec ( 25w) for the HS-H6M due to electrical power constraint of a smaller cc bike.

May i have a look at yr HID system set-up, if u still have problem with them.

I sure hope u r not one of those tt bought a H7 HID to fit into a H3 lamp casing........ :cheeky:

A search on the internet or ebay will get u all the information on HID Fog Lamps. The smaller the lamp the more expensive they will be. I have seen a Taiwanese HID maker - selling a clip on HID spot lamp for ATCs. If u wan this information pls send me a email & i will forward U the details. But I must warn you, their pricing is very steep. I can help if u need any information on the HID installation or modification. :)

Yeah sure no problem if you want to see the setup... i believe my reflector are not meant for HID.... so that probably cause me to lose precious luminious... I think i am gettin more glare....

i know the different bet a H7 and a H3 Lamp... same as i dont pump diesel in my petrol tank.... hehehehe

yeap - tt is the main problem - non-HID compliant Lamp casing. Best to dull or filter the upward glare - try using light tinting film. I used them on Ta200 b4 - i think it helps.

Hi Limbat,

Thanks for the offer. One of the reason why i wanna mate fog lights with HID kits is mainly due to the cost.... I have seen some fog lights that came with HID bulbs.... ( those that had the ballast and all) and they are pretty pricey.... but must admit they look awesome.....

So was toying with the idea if it was possible to fit HIDs onto a Halogen fog light. Was surprise when i was talking to one rider who did just that. .....

think the cost may be cheaper than buying pure HID fog lights. It also give me some things to do.....

Have search the internet but din see anyone who detail the process with part numbers and things to watch out for when doing this mod......
