Nah.....on human social behaviour.

The lady and the son did wrong to have tried to drive away.

yes, the bike is not in a bike lot. You can also say a lamp post or a child is not not a proper pavement and is knocked down. So there shouldnt be any responsibility to pick it up, and at least have the courtesy to leave a note?

Whether or not its even an abandoned bike. When you knocked down something or someone. You go say sorry. Simple as that. When people assumed that no apologies are required, Then these people already evolved into such higher being, that probably the brain is at the arse.

Yeh, vk, on human social behavior, the car owner are arrogant to show their face as such to the ts but law wise, its going to be a long battle

i once had my 2b bike long time ago dented while it was in a proper bike lot. obviously very pi$$ed off. never found out who did it.

but an illegally parked bike... i'm sitting on the fence. don't get me wrong: saying sorry is one thing, taking responsibility for the damage is another. too many times in my bike or car i have encountered illegally parked vehicles that give me trouble when i try to get out of my lot, car and bike both also same. if i bang, say sorry? sure. pay for damage? I won't for an illegally parked vehicle.

lamp post is different. its forever there, stationary, and the driver's responsibility to watch out.

bang a child, the law answers that for you. last week news poor old lady died when kena hit by a truck moving off from lot. coroner ruled it 'misadventure' and driver escaped punishment because they ruled the driver did check blind spot but just dam suay at that exact moment the short stooped lady happen to be exactly in that tiny 50cm space that the truck driver impossible to see. then again, a few years ago i read a guy in sports car bang into child who suddenly rushed onto road, but kena big time because he was found to be speeding and mildly intoxicated.

i can say sorry, its like when i walking and i bang into people, i always auto say sorry without caring who's the one actually not watching where he going. it just comes out of my mouth automatically even if not my fault, rather than some people auto response is to stare. but if i believe its not my fault, i'm not going to take responsibility.

It's true: it's more fun to ride a slow bike fast than to ride a fast bike slow. Admittedly, though... It is MOST fun to ride a fast bike fast!

True, I understand the personal feelings for a illegally parked vehicle.

As mentioned in the legality thread: Ridiculous parking summon.

I really will have preferred that such illegally parked vehicles be picked up, and dump away or run over them with a truck.

I tot the pics were very misleading. From the comments some were saying the damage shown on the photo was before the car brush the bike. From the video, I believe the comments are true as the bike front wheel was in a strange angle (while on center stand) before the car touch the bike. Moreover, bike didn't even topple.

The plate no posted is wrong, it should be EM5400T. The level of damage to the bike seems too serious for a brush like this, could it be the bike had already been damaged before this incident? Cos a brush like this may not hv led to such level of damage. Not saying the driver was right thou.

Yes. This bike already there for quite some time n is in bad condition already. The video just show that she barely touch the wheel of the bike and say she knock the bike..... FYI, I stay around here so I am aware that the bike is there...

Well, looks like the Town Council isn't doing their job.

Yup. All the car did was turn the forks. if the car had really caused that damage, the bike would have fallen over long before the wheel could get that badly twisted.

I think the law is simple in that, the moving vehicle always have the responsibility of maintaining control, over a stationary/parked one. In a collision, the moving vehicle has the liability.

Illegal parking is another matter altogether, and is dealt with by another law. Irrelevant to an accident.

Too bad, the car driver will have to shoulder the repair bill, especially more so that there is video evidence of her apparent incompetence in maintaining control of her car.
