My Kawasaki KR KIPS 150cc went thru a gradual performance break in. As follows :

 

1) Travelling at not more than 5 RPM or not above 80km/h for the first 250

km distance. Engine Oil replaced.

 

2) Travelling at not more than 5 RPM or not above 90km/h for another 250

km distance. Engine Oil replaced.

 

3) While travelling at not more than 5 RPM and not above 90km/h on a level

ground, I suddenly noticed the engine sound louder and speedometer

raised up to about 100km/h without any throttle influence. By this time, I

knew my bike had BREAK IN!!! Travel for another 100km. Engine Oil

replaced.

 

4) By this time, my speedometer reads slightly above 600km distance. I had replaced my engine oil with Full synthetic and new iradium spark plug.Other power up gadgets and components also installed. Now time to test the bike capabilities.

 

First test fire - 140km/h

Second test fire - 160km/h

Third test fire - 180km/h

Last test fire - Exactly 200km/h

 

I knew my bike had totally break in and subjected to moderate riding and for the safety and best mechanical parts longevity, I am now riding the most 120km/h.So far, no prob or any foreign noises from the engine!

 

However, some senior KR riders can outrun more than 200km/h and claimed 220km/h. My hope is that you all ride safely and treasure ur life!! hehehe...Some of them from HARD BREAK IN and some of them like me.. SOFT Break In!!

i think we might as well trash this thread and allow a new one to surface. this one has waaaaaaay too much crap inside. prior to this page, i have not read a single post that describes an individual's detailed run in mileage. all i see are insults and chit chat. come to think of it, i was a real pain in the a$$ back then lol, many apologies, people . for those who think that your bikes were run in at the factory, view:

after assembly, the mech tested the internal moving parts for free rotation by revving up to a low rpm (sounds like 3-4krpm), switched gears, revved low and proceeded to test the brake system. i don't see any high rpm action. if that is a run in/ break in by anyone's standards, all i can say is:

 

as of now, i still recommend what the instruction booklet said. if you prefer hard run in method, hey, more power to you, i have no gripe with that

Those were the days when members can run amuck in the Sportsbikes Section without no moderation at all. Flame, and boh liao threads were aplenty then. Well, back to topic now...
