Coolant pump spoil?did u just change ur coolant? My radiator fin leak after i change coolant.think the coolant concentration too high until the aluminium deteriorate....possible?

I dunno whether that is possible haha...

For me, I fill up the reservse till the tip is the openings which is way way above the "high" marking cos I didn't notice that there was one hence, I over filled the coolent system

MAYBE, I saying maybe only.....

When engine is hot, coolent temp increases and sort of "boils" and when there is no space for expansion, the pressure inside the tude increase hence resulted in the leaking and spoilt the pump..... anyway I let Guan Hoe handle the problem and just have to "drain" my pocket empty cos was quoted $100+++++++

By the way, there is really a reserve cos normally when we fill up coolent water, we dun open the cap , we fill thru the reserves

For the charity run.... I fine with meeting on fri 9pm at fong seng so long as my "baby" is out of the garage... see you there!

Take care brother! :thumb:

There is a overflow tube, trace the tubes on the reserve cap, see where they lead to. U'll know wat I mean.

In case u overfill... water boils... expand blah blah blah....the extra water will flow out of the tube.

My radiator is leaking real bad, have try the 'STOP LEAKS' products from petrol kiosk, but din't work.

I suspect the water pump is the culprit, because when I open up the radiator cap with the engine running the coolant sit still as rocks, not flowing thus creating hot spot. I trace the leak it comes from in between the fins, very tricky to patch with metal epoxy.

Hope bandit brudders can keep me informed if can find a second hand radiator or some shop can do aluminium welding for radiator.

Think its a good chance for me to rebuilt my water pump and check the valve clearance now.

U mean u tried those coolant system sealant and cannot work? After u use the sealant n flush until clean, leave it for a while before putting in water, then followed by coolant.

Cos the last time i manage to seal until no leak when engine running, then after flushing clean i pour in mixture of coolant n water n it started to leak again. Thus after sealing second time only did i successfully seal it up.

Mine oso leak at the fins. U still haf the sealant left? If free, we can try it together again...

The stuff which I bought is called 'Blue Coral' from Shell Petrol station, its blue and low vicosity(kinda thick), for $4++. I just pour the whole bottle into the radiator, at that moment my radaiator is already quite empty, so I add some water to reach the brim.

Run the engine till its very hot, can see the blue stuffs coming out from the fins, the leak is slower compare to before but still leaking.

I will go to autobacc tomorrow to see if they have a better radiator sealant to try out.

And by the way a new radiator cost $807 from Guan Hoe spares part. Wanted to overhaul and change my water pump, the spares fella told me they dont sell the bearing, and inform me the seal and shaft of the water pump is $177.

Hi all. I just got a GSF400P, can anyone lend me a manual to photocopy? Or does anyone have a digi scanned copy somewhere around?

The 400 Bandit?

Part of the problem is, like ALL of the 93-95ish watercooled Suzuki's, that it's got a very low temperature coolant thermostat ~175f, or so. Makes them seem to run lean and not idle well when the fuel screws are set for best idle after a good ride. Install a higher temp thermostat from, perhaps a cbr600f3. We use ~195f thermostat, which is a bit higher than the f3, but 192f-196f is where the engine runs the best and makes the best power.

Either way, changing the thermostat is mandatory (trust me!). Then you can tune the carbs for best throttle response and power with the carb kit. The bike will be much less sensitive to weather, too!

The magic 195f thermostat is the exact 44mm diameter as the original and is STANT brand pn: 13849. (edited October 23, 2000)

Be sure to drill 1 stock sized hole in the new thermostat to allow low water flow rate when the thermostat is closed.

It won't make the bike run too hot, it will just keep it from running too cool when just cruising around - like summer in foggy San Francisco - that is, south of the Golden Gate Bridge 'cause it's warmer by 15f-20f 10 miles to the north.

The CRB-S41-1.0 Carb Recal Kit will work much better - cleaner and more responsive everywhere. There is no ignition advance available.

I got this info from Factory Pro website. Anybody knows where to get stant thermostat in Sg?

I found this shop to recon my radiator, its at UBI, the shop name is called URS radiator service.

They are asking for $150 for the job. They will use back the old radiator frame, and weld new coolant passage with the fins.
