Welcome to the jungle.........

Many years when I was you:

1) look around at motor shop and ask.....best bet

2) look around car park...if owner not around.......put note in multi language and hope owner call back.....or wait for owner to appear.......very slim

3) from friends.....good try

4) newspaper classified ad....not many........very slim

5) forum....bike meet up.....can try

Spares for this kind of bike is limited in s'pore.....with $$$ you can do it.......if you dont have just buy a normal bike.....and go on with your life.....or migrant to other country. Good to see some new faces in the classic / vintage scene but market is all spoil by our strict control of old bikes........so sad.........

Hi there welcome, maybe you can start of with a honda CG125 I start of with a CG myself see attach and move on with a honda CD125T then honda CB550 and honda C70cub. The CG spare parts are easy to get and not expensive to maintenance. You can get one for $500 to $1200 whereby a 1970s honda CB125, CB 175 or CB 200 if done up will be at least $3000 onward.

i like its look!! a few questions..cause i still very new to this stuffs..

-if i get 2nd hand will it need an engine overhaul? how to check engine condition and stuff.

-isit easy to ride? compared to a cub?

-u said it cost 800-1200..isit on the road or machine price only?

-how quick isit? doesnt really matter but i hope it can hit 90km/h comfortably cause sometimes i go visit relatives up north. dont want too slow.

-what is the basic maintenace it needs?

-which shops would u recommend to look at it? also if got cb125 even better..i like the cb125 even more....i have about 4k to spend including helmets and the other accessories...possible to get the cb125? is there a great difference specs wise? will be using the bike for transport purpose so dont know should i spend the extra.

Spot on, is found everywhere in singapore.

I would suggest you check out s'pore authorised dealer; boon siew, suzuki, yamaha. They have some small cc bike in Japan which is a repro of classic bike. I have posted in one of the forum before.

Classic / vintage bike not advicable to be daily transport man.....unless engine have been completely overhaul as in damaged parts replaced with new...finally be prepared to have nightmare if your bike is sick....tis is when spare parts are important.

Yes, that picture is a CG125 you can lookout for CG110 too. The CG110 is older model.

Q-if i get 2nd hand will it need an engine overhaul? how to check engine condition and stuff.

A- lookout for white smoke from exhaust if it is a 4 stroke engine and engine is it very noisy and when the bike moving off got power or not.

Q-isit easy to ride? compared to a cub?

A-Same but for new rider CG is easier

Q-u said it cost 800-1200..isit on the road or machine price only?

A-excluded ins. and road tax

Q-how quick isit? doesnt really matter but i hope it can hit 90km/h comfortably cause sometimes i go visit relatives up north. dont want too slow.

A-80km is comfortable this is a 4 stroke 125CC engine only don't expect it to fly.

Q-what is the basic maintenace it needs?

A-Engine oil change ever 2500km

Q-which shops would u recommend to look at it? also if got cb125 even better..i like the cb125 even more....i have about 4k to spend including helmets and the other accessories...possible to get the cb125? is there a great difference specs wise? will be using the bike for transport purpose so dont know should i spend the extra.

A-Not much old 70s cb125 around now so spare parts not much too. Unless you want to spend more $$$$ you can get parts from ebay. Be prepare to spend if you want to look for old 70s cb125, cb175, cb200, at least buying the bike for 2.5K onward and restore the bike at least for 2k onward. Is all about $$$$

so u are saying if i want to use as daily transport i must get one at the best condition possible? how much would it cost to maintain one monthly? would $100 a month be enough assuming that i pay the bike by full cash? $2k should be enough for a cg125, helmet and all the accessories? then i can save up my other $3k..:cheeky:

Well, perhaps u can even mod RXK also. This bike can go as fast as 100km/h.

for my rxk its about 120km/h :) cheers

i agree RXK is a good bike to start mods due to its low start cost. a good condition RXK should set u back about 1k-1.5k

u can get $300-$500 rxk but trust me.. its not worth it on the long run.. u will spend much much more.

good luck in searching for your first bike..
