I tried fixing it today. I've added some anti-vibration rubber in the brackets to avoid scratching the handlebar when fixing them, but also to help with the vibrations.

I expanded the clamps quite easily once I found out how to play with the screw drivers to get the leverage I needed. Did it outside the handlebar, then took plies to bring the two clamp extremities closer together, closing up on the bar - didn't tighten to the max as I'm fairly certain they won't completely close.

I'm not sure how to fix the bar now. I took some pictures :

You can see them here in high res.

Or just check out the attachments.

Either the brackets are too small for our handlebar's size, or the rubber thing I put is too thick - but I really don't think it's that because it's a very compressible foam.

Obviously the screws that came with it are too small now if I can't close the gap.

@mjbs64, how much does the Posh Fair one cost ? I expect it to be rather expensive, since Japanese brand and imported. In yens it's about S$30 already.. Where is it available ? I would be interested in the quick release clamps.

@alvinyansg, do you have a gap between the two sides of the bracket, or does it close on both the handlebar and the mounting bar leaving no gap at its heads ?

What about you @Fredd ?

Can you guys share pics of your brace clamps so I can see please ?

Tomorrow I'll go get me some longer screws and some bolts - I need to replace my headlight assembly screws anyway, the one that go under the signal lights, the stock ones gone missing and the ones I have now are a bit too short.

-> Where can I find all sorts of screws and bolts besides Home Fix or Mustafa ?

Looking for this :

O'ren,

the clamps are meant to be clamp tight on the handle bar

this brace is use to keep your handlebar from bending(don't always work) when it hits the gound

with the foam the clamp might slip and defeats the purpose of the brace

well i might be wrong...

maybe will add padding to reduce some vibration...

for screws and stuff can head to the shop selling screws, bolts, nuts, washers etc behind ah boy that coffeeshop...

the quick release all bicycle shops can get...

go those neighbourhood ones cheaper...

Haha, you are assuming Speed will go to UM everyday

Just pickup the phone and call, lah, so convinient. :)

This is the message that UMPL posted here sometime ago:

Dear SC Gaban,

Thank you for your opinion and feedback.

Many issues need to be cleared before we can decide to introduce any new model or not.

Not many bikers have Class 2A licence. Appx 80% of bikers only have class 2B licence. More likely a biker will go for 250cc upward bikes if he has a 2A licence.

The small volume sold do not warrant complete spare parts stocking. Imagine how a biker will feel when he cant get the spare for his bike.

The pulsar 135 is the cheapest bike you can get in Singapore now. At $4,600 O.T.R excluding insurance no other brand and model can match. It even cheaper then Wave125 or Spark. This bike will appeal to economic conscious bikers who want value and fantastic mileage.

Thanks again for your feedback and understanding.

Rgds,

UMPL

That time COE was 1.5k. Now it is 2.5k so add 1k to the cost above.

So Fredd got wingrack secondhand for 300+ issit? ......

hmmm .. then may be I check with Indon first .. found another new supplier selling local wingrack .. will update the shippping cost for difference .. since at Dickson Rd also price witout installation.

Oh btw to Fredd ......

regards on Malacca thingy .. my mom in law families are there ... so if I'm riding there you know lah ... must go to visit relatives from house to house ... hmmmm btw malacca zoo tak main lor!!! .... kekekekeke

yes..got it 2nd hand..i asked e seller hw much he got it when he bought it..it was 300+..der's this guy called stantheman sellin his fazer..he spent an additional 300 juz to customise it on his fazer..so i got mine relatively cheaper :D..dun c many ppl use wingracks coz its heavy and not many ppl use sideboxes..but its really good metal..its those quality wun bend so easily

Yeah, the continuous streak of lightening and the following thunder is really special for us. In India it does rain during the monsoons, but never with such fury. If it did, the cities there will just not be able to take it. They would just get flooded badly for days. In Singapore its amazing how soon the roads get dry, like nothing happened all. Haha.

now is not so bad..i remember when i was in sch the lightnin reali scary..once i was playin soccer at the basketball court den it started rainin we sat at e canteen..in front of e canteen there was this monkey bar those metallic kind..the lightnin hit dat monkey bar and we were all deafened for a min..alot of lightin stories in sg reali.

what did you tell ah boy?

cause i asked before for this thicker ones and he say don't have...

e other i went also dun have..he gave me e longer brace..so maybe oren came in time e stock juz came

And yet, do not say that in public or I guarantee locals will jump at you explaining how bad flooding is here, how poorely managed it is - "I mean, did you see how Orchard road gets when it rains??"

yada yada yada...

I suppose for us who grew up somewhere else, this is all just madness :) I often think that if 2% of the rain Singapore gets could fall on Morocco, it would make such a difference for so many people there.. and of course, we'd all walk around in boots for months until everything dries off if the sewers over spilling didn't force us to wear hazard suits

juz now when i came back from jb..u noe aft clearing the customs..den when u exit on the left goes twrd bke/pie n on the rite goes twrd marsiling. dat area was flooded and when i rode..i could feel my feet in the water..it was dat high. until a point some cars broke down..dey didnt even have hazard lights on..i tink their battery got submerged in the water..

I don't think this will prevent bending of the handle bar..it's really just a $15 brace, I think it's only meant to

Can you imagine, if i can bend open the clamps, what type of shock they can sustain ? Probably not big ones.

But I get your point.. I just need something to hold my camera and iphone mounts..

You're the best MJ ! Thanks a lot for taking the pictures

Well, it price from the Posh Faith catalog is $55 - so as usual, Motoworld is .. well..undoubtedly sovereign in their pricing set up.. :cheeky:

I've researched a bit Posh Faith. it's a very popular and respected bran. They are specialized in part for some vintage bikes, but also for high quality parts for more recent and famous bikes.

Their brace on the catalog looked ruff and rugged, and you just confirmed it with the photos.

Why did you choose black clamps instead of blue to match the brace ?

And just out of curiosity, what did you use to do the DIY foam ?

I think i'll get the clamps from Motoworld - any chance you know how much they cost on their own ?

The truth is, you want something that will give you peace of mind and will last many many stormy days ? Get something of good quality -> expensive.

My Mustafa raincoat leaks on the right pocket, my iPhone paid the price (it's still working, but it will take weeks for the water to fully evaporate)

And I have a leak on left knee apparently too.

I've read on this thread and almost everytime on SBF people talk about raincoats, the same story: yes cheap ones can last 4-6-10 months. But they will leak pretty soon without you torturing them. And people who bought drymaster and Co, they forked out double the price or more, but 3 years later, they're still 100% dry.

I think the raincoat in Singapore is like a helmet or boots: you buy one that really does the job well, you keep it from a bike to another

Thanks guys ! Alvin, sorry didn't see it in your previous reply, sorry for making you repeat yourself.

I've been to that road i think for the first time this WE, I wanted to change my habits, so when I took off LAB I went around to catch Jalan Besar again but from the left - Saw shops with lots of stuff in them, definitely looked like a DIY heaven :cheeky:

Ok, will go check it out - another one of those "Ang Moh meets Chinese uncle shop owner who doesn't understand why Ang Moh is at his shop and can't be bothered to speak English" experience to look forward to... :sigh:

I've been to that road i think for the first time this WE, I wanted to change my habits, so when I took off LAB I went around to catch Jalan Besar again but from the left - Saw shops with lots of stuff in them, definitely looked like a DIY heaven :cheeky:

Ok, will go check it out - another one of those "Ang Moh meets Chinese uncle shop owner who doesn't understand why Ang Moh is at his shop and can't be bothered to speak English" experience to look forward to... :sigh:

1 thing is when you head to the shop selling screw, bolts, nuts you need to know what you are looking for or bring down a sample for them to have a look...

if not can try to describe to them then see if they can help you...

if bangladeshi workers, they can assist to get what they wants, ....

hmm think for you with your safety gears on .. ok lah hehehehehehee

like alvin stated .. just bring the samples along and tell them what type you want ...

and my suggest too .. since you are there .. get few stainless steel longer length with same size for the tank cover bolts .. the longer bolts can be used to secure diy bracket mounting on the tank like what bro solar did his diy cam bracket.
