Hi guys

I do not know how this happened but my speedometer can be pressed down after I tried to reset my meter. Is there anyway UM can rectify this?

Am afraid that it will cause rain to enter and possibly cause my speedometer to be damaged as what might have happened to my previous speedo,

Thanks for advices

Went down to motoworld to have a look and the Komine saddle bag is really very nice.

But the guy there said the bag is more for touring use. I am looking for something for daily use (store my barang barangs like raincoat, slippers, etc). Those that have this saddle bag. Do you leave the bags on the bike or take it down after use?

Any grips to recommend? The stock grips very hard, not nice to hold. Anyway, anyone done top overhaul before? How slow shall i maintain the speed at? Currently riding only at 6k rpm, which is abt 85km/hr.

Go for the Rizoma grips. The original ones. Great investment and fair price. It'll take you a couple of rides to forget the stock grips and completely fall in love with the rizoma feel. Will wonder why they don't come stock with every bike ! Have been using mine for 3 years, still sturdy and looking brand new.

hmm...

which one?

both of them from Philippines...

I think now only one is left no ? Sis Kalthum is there now..

Got my 200NS, finally. After long 3 month wait. But so worth the wait. Perfect bike, perfect power, perfect size, not too heavy, and joy to ride.

Was just at Regina looking for boxes. Only have plastic, want metal top and side panniers. The frame for NS200 David from UM says will come in a few weeks. But need to customize for panniers. Any idea on where to get, Ah boy and LAB only have givi and same plastic. Nice, but not deserving of the NS200 as a long distance touring machine.

Hey Bodhi, you sound like an experienced rider. Could you do an in-depth review of the NS for us? Even better, could you team up with one of us (Ideally Mobinerd, MJ or Alvin for they have been riding theirs for many years and would be able to compare) - we'd take photos, videos and deliver a review that fits the needs and questions of the riders in SG - including those who need to know more about the touring capabilities of the new bike. I'm happy to meet-up with you for a drink to discuss it and see how we could make it happen while guaranteeing nothing happens to the bike. These 3 riders are 100% reliable, safe and responsible.

As for the debate around boxes: I agree with you, long extensive touring is best with alu type boxes. But after the same goose chase as you, decided to drop it.

Way too expensive. Doesn't make sense to equip such a small and cheap bike with cases worth an entire engine overhaul.. In the end, I went for Ortlieb Panniers. Waterproof, sturdy (like VERY sturdy, ball-so-hard-muthaf$kers-wanna-find-me sturdy) and light to carry around compared to boxes. Touring means at some point you need to be able to take off the luggage: either to cross a bridge, go through some ridiculously narrow customs path, lift up the fallen bike, or when you just can't afford to leave the stuff on the bike because you're in a place where people can dismount the stuff in less time than you need to drink a coke.

So yeah, Harley saddle bags are fugly on this kinda bike, so-called "sport" bags (like the Komine ones mjbs64 showed you on the pics) are too small, so I found the Ortlieb bags were a good compromise. The issue with these bags is they lack locking mechanisms. I use PacSafe mesh nets to encase them into and secure them. Not good looking, but when you tour, looks is the least of your problems. At first you wanna look good, then you realize the road makes you look the coolest already :D

I think your best choice for touring would be plastic side boxes and plastic or metal box on the top. You already know the cheapest brands, there's also Trax and Hepco&Becker who do good and reliable stuff you can keep for years and put on other bikes -> very expensive but worth it.

Rizoma grips very expensive right? I was thinking of sumting below 30. I only ride to n fro work, so like to much of a waste to spend a lot on such things.

Can't remember the rpice now, I think 120 the pair ? You can et replicas for cheaper. The grips in my opinion are worth the spend. You can buy cheap ones but if after a few months of riding they start peeling off.. especially the right one. Not sure you can find below 30 - maybe in JB ?

There are HOV (Hazard Oriented Vision to learn how to ride more defensively) sessions and Traffic Police meetup sessions organized that WE as well.

I highly recommend the HOV session.

I think I'll be joining Saturday's session, since Sunday I think it might clash with our convoy timing.

All new riders should join the HOV sessions and it's a good reminder for seasoned riders as well.

Here's more info :

Singapore Traffic Police Seminar (Road Safety & Anti-Drink Drive/Ride)

Date : 26th Jan 2013

Time : About 2.00pm

Duration : An hour

Speakers : Singapore Traffic Police

Synopsis :

  • The tagline for the road safety public education programme is to engage and educate motorcyclists and motorcycling enthusiasts on the importance of safe riding with the objective of inculcating safe riding consciousness, habits and behaviors. The campaign aims to increase the road safety awareness of motorcyclists and to thereby reduce the incidence of motorcycle accidents, and more importantly, to minimise the extent of serious injuries and fatalities suffered by motorcyclists in accidents.

  • The tagline for the Anti-Drink Drive/Ride Campaign “Don’t Drive/Ride to Drink. And You’ll Never Drink and Drive/Ride”. This is a strong call to those who are contemplating a night out to leave their cars or motorcycles behind, catch a lift from a friend, relative or colleague or use public transportation. Drink driving/riding is an irresponsible and reckless action that would result in serious consequences.

Audience :

For all motorcyclist(s) seeking to develop safe riding habits and behaviors and being safe on the road with proper riding mindset and apparels to protect themselves.

http://i231.photobucket.com/albums/ee289/SingaporeBikes/Anniversary 2013/Seminars/HOVBanner01-1.jpg

Hazard Oriented Vision (HOV) Safety Seminar

Date : 26th & 27th Jan 2013

Time : About 11.00am

Duration : An hour

Speakers : Endlessloop & Spectrum

Synopsis :

Hazard Oriented Vision (HOV) is the continuous process of watching out for hazards when we are riding. HOV functions just like the Advanced Warning Airborne Control System (AWACS) of the surveillance aircraft, providing early warning detection. The idea of HOV is the same, except that we motorcyclist(s) rely on our vision instead of radio waves.

Audience :

For all motorcyclist(s) to share and learn on safe riding, improve your road awareness and vision to keep yourselves safe from danger.
