@Romi_ku Thanks for the feedback ! :thumb:

Tyres: it's not you, it's definitely the tyres.

Warm up: Pulsar bikes (well actually it's not the brand it's the engine type) like to be warmed up. I always leave the bike idling for 5min in the morning (gearing up, normal pre-take-off checks and sometimes chatting with my neighbors riders before we leave). I encourage you to do this everyday, especially if 2min after going outside the carpark you hit the highway.

Vibrations: this will have to be confirmed as you guys ride your NS, but there's definitely some feedback on vibrations a very low rpms and above 8k rpm I think. But nothing too bad. Then again, some riders in India have been riding bikes that vibrate like a washing machine so they have better endurance :)

EO change: Change is recommended as follow:

- first 100km

- 450/500kms

- 1500-2000kms

- after that, you can follow the manual (which I don;t recommend, says to top-up every 5000km, change every 10,000) or change every 4-5k km. I change my oil every 2500-3000km. Probably unnecessary for a Pulsar, but I find that when riding long trips, it feels better. And I think it helps give the engine a longer lifespan - but I'm no expert so maybe that's just in my head

FC: do 2-3 tanks and calculate from there. Don't worry too much if your figures are different from other riders, there are a lot of factors that play a role in the FC. What's important is that it's good enough for you :)

Check bottom of this post the attached file for the 200 NS Periodic Maintenance chart. As MJ pointed out, it might be that the "Body Centrifugal Filter" is a mistake - doesn't appear to be one in the NS..

UM is expecting a shipment of NS Owner's Manual soon. If it's like for the P200, Bajaj "customizes" the manual for UM, indicating their contact info, and the manual is made for export.

@Bombcat Yep, you have to install a helmet lock, doesn't come with the bike. Check our FB group for photos posted by MJ of his. He actually has 2 on his bike (hey, this is Singapore - if you're not kiasu you're not living it! :)). Paid $20 for the lock + labor charges to get it installed at UM.

Boxes, there's quite a bit of choices, I'm no specialist, my thing is bags. Scroll back just a few pages back, Bodhi asked the same question and was given ample details.

Accessories: see Speddadict list. Usually everyone rides to those shops or buys online. We organise from time to time MOs( Mass Orders) from indonesia or US/Europe when we find good deals.

@asakura_hao88

Please see above for EO changes. I'd go for Fully Synthetic oil. 20W50 or 10W40 that UM carries.

UM can change your grips, they do a good job at it, have done it several times. If you do it yourself, it requires a bit of attention and sometimes sweat if the stock grips are sticking too hard to the handlebar but it's not impossible. :)

Bike wash: wanna take the lead and organise one for us ? :) Just pick an HDB block with sufficient space and a good washing bay space and we can all gather there on a WE morning or afternoon. Give us 2 weeks notice min. Make a post with the date and time + location, and we will list our names. We can each bring some products and share.

Other meetups are weekly (BTMO Bajaj Team Weekly Outing aka PMS Pulsarians Makan Session), and usually take place in the East, on Changi Road (Geylang), every Wed from 9pm to 11pm.

Check our FB group for more info (see my signature)

@Bodhi Bum, I see, you're him ! :D We were talking about how our group has a good mix of chinese, malay and indian riders and of course the guys made fun saying "O'Ren don't even bother, you'll always be the only ang moh.." - I guess that's not true anymore :) Glad you picked the NS, your height seems to be what the bike was designed for.

So what bags/boxes did you go for in the end? Share some photos of the bike with us !

For ferries to Indo, I'm regularly checking in as well. I wish they brought back carrying bikes from Penang. But so far all riders trying their luck have been turned down. That was ideal, takes you across to Medan directly. Let me know when you hear good news ok ?

If you are short on time to ride up to Thailand, you can always do it by train. Will save you quite a bit of time, and it's easy to do. Both in MY and Thailand they are used to carrying bikes by train up north. Where's your place in Thailand ? Crossing into Cambodia and Laos with an SG bike is fairly straight forward at the right border points. Lots of fun and great sights there :thumb: But yeah, time is the biggest issue. Could be just more practical to fly there and rent a bike like you did.

You have photos of the roads near kampong Cham ? I'd love to see them. How bad was the flooding ? Tank high ? Try a ride to kampot next time, it's really a super scenic area.

I think for this kind of rides the NS will be doing great. Riders in India have taken the NS off road to some pretty challenging roads and rivers and the bike is holding its own.

I can't wait for the NS to hit Indonesia: this is where we will see the NS swim, ride in the sand, climb mountains and cross all sorts of rivers..

For riding gear, I find that Komine and Taichi do the lightest stuff. And the price range allows for changing/upgrading regularly or have spares (gloves for example). If you don't have one already, get a camelbak as well. Best piece of gear to have on those rides.

EO change: see above, I would change the EO every 2.5/3k km after the breaking in. Fully synthetic.

@ThePanduck Welcome to our thread. :cheer: Fully agree with the guys, the bike's gotta put a smile on your face. FZ16 is a great bike as well. I think in terms of maintenance the P200 was the cheapest hands down. The NS shouldn't be that much expensive, if UM labor charges stay roughly the same (...) and if the oil filter isn't too expensive. You'll spend more money making the bike look nice, adding accessories than you ever will on the maintenance  And with the saving you'll make on the petrol, I'm sure the overall cost of the bike will be low. Do approach our friends at Club FZ16 Singapore to get more detailed info on the FZ16 and compare costs.

Just completed 75km at one go and now odometer at 130kms.

It was as if the bike suddenly came to life at the 100km mark. Engine was a little smoother than before.

I do not experience any false neutrals as reported by some riders in India. In fact it is as good as a japanese gear box imho.

As for the vibrations, I realise there is a dead spot around 68-74 kmh riding on 6th gear. Once I clear 75kmh it was very very minimal.

The bike is nippy and those used to riding larger bikes have to take note that the turning radius on this bike is very small. Poke your handle in that direction and it just goes.

Anyone spot something that doesn't belong in this picture?

It means time for servicing. But that is programmed to India specs. From what I understand, Singapore bikes must follow our own maintenance chart.

The bloody gap between the console and its frame ? I hate how the finish on the NS was done.. the P200 has better finishes, which is kinda sad.

There are so many gaps everywhere. The worst are between the seats and the fairing...

Glad to help add a little Canadian to the Pulsarian mix. Going on my third year here so feel an honorary Singaporean in most ways.

Yeah, the bike height was designed perfectly for someone six foot or so. I've seen a ton of posts from the indian market worrying if the bike was too tall, and it seems Bajaj may have shot themselves in the foot designing a bike too tall for most of their primary market. Seems they may be targeting foreign markets with this bike, but seems to be selling gangbusters in India so maybe they know what they're doing. Perfect for me, I can sit flat foot knees bent.

I haven't decided on the boxes yet. UM doesn't get the rack in until last week of Jan so plenty of time. I was going to check out Lab and Mah yesterday, but drove by after my Desaru ride at 7pm and they were already closed, Mah was locking the gate. I decided to just keep the cost down and go lower end Givi top and side.

I read up on mesh jackets, but they're only good in sunny not too hot weather. Rain and you have to switch to wet gear. Too hot and it's better to have a jacket you can zip up the vents to keep your cool air in. So decided on the alpinesports jacket and pants. Now without boxes it's a pain as you get off the bike and have to carry this heavy jacket, but with a box you can only wear when riding and it's cool, then take off when you get off.

No photos of Kampong Cham ride. I used to take photos and do the blog thing. But now just enjoy the experience and file it away in memory. This ride I kept out of the deep water, which is why I turned back halfway. I could have tried to cross a couple a couple dicey crossings, but it was a rental and I read the contract fine print and they asked for $3,000 USD replacement if the bike was lost. Didn't want to lose it bottom of the Mekong. I've done the ride to Kampot, beautiful little town. Also up to the Bokor hill station. Still have lots of Cambodia to cover though. Future trips to be planned.

Someone must know a means to get the bike ferried over to Batam, or Bintan, or Sumatra. I can't be the only one that would love to spend weekends touring on my own bike in Indo. Are there boats you can charter to bring you across? Like the bum boats you can charter from Changi to bring you across to Malaysia?

For mesh jacket with big holes suited to our weather try Komine.

For best raincoat and pants, nothing else but RS Taichi DrymasterX.

Many of us Pulsarians use it.

All can be bought from motoworld.

for local weather/region riding, mesh is the best...

once your vents are zipped up you will be sweating buckets...

for rain gear, just wear over your current armoured jacket...

up to now there is no way we can bring our bike over...

the bum boats at changi, even if they allow, you will have to carry your own bike down on to the boat down a flight of slippery stairs...

I wanted something which could double as a riding jacket and wet gear. I hate having to stop and change when it starts raining, which happens pretty much every long ride. The alpinestar jacket and pants have a dry suit inner lining. Mind you, I still have to stop and put the dry suit lining into the jacket and pants when it starts raining. But better than having two different suits I think.

Of course, the mesh suit would be cooler, but I still need to ride more with my current suit to see how well it does with local temps. My ride yesterday I finished thinking it will be fine. Riding with vents open it's perfect, even in full sun, and it's a black jacket. But going through Woodlands crossing, queing up, it got a bit warm. But unzip when stopped and it was fine. Back riding and it's fine. And when it starts raining I can keep riding (unless it starts pouring, then I need the dry suit lining in). A mesh suit with big holes, you have to stop and change right away.

No perfect jacket. I almost bought a leather from Regina. Was told that was the best for local weather. But didn't like the look.

You can charter a boat to go to the Southern Islands. Why can't you ask them to bring you a little further to Batam? Great riding there out along the highway across six or so bridges across the chain of islands. Never tried it, but worth a shot. Will check and report back.

however you can try asking and update here if anyone willing to take the bikes over...

Another alternative is to get the $90 rs Taichi inner thin jacket and put on a mesh jacket over it.

How do I change the time shown on the instrumental panel of a 200ns? I tired pressing the left button (think is mode), the right button and both together. Nothing.

BTW, is the side stand indicator on the left bottom corner working on your bike?

IIRC, this is the way, if not try it on Trip 1.

1.Bike ignition key switch to on but do not start bike.

2. make sure its on trip 2

3. press both butttons together until time flashes

4. press S to adjust hours , once desired hour is achieved, press M, minutes will flash

5. press S to adjust minutes, once desired minutes is achieved, press M+S again till the time stops flashing.

lol @m0bIlEnErDfor the comment to Speed & rain..:lol:

@Bodhi Bum, I'm 200% for going over the WE in Indonesia, and why not, start with Batam. Like Alvin said, there's a simple "cannot go" rule for boats you can charter. But, you probably have heard tons of times that this or that ride wasn't possible, and in the end with a little bit of stubbornness and resilience there is a solution. I'm game to explore it, I'll see what info I can get, I think I know someone who knows someone who rides to Indonesia quite a bit. And we could ask right here in SBF for some inputs as well.

Agree there's not perfect gear. Gotta find your own setup. Hated having to stop by the side of the road to change. But realized I either ride in pouring rain or in drizzles/sun. 70% of the year in the latter. So mesh for me. And when it rains a lot, it's easily predictable from a day to another so I gear up usually before take off. My taichi mesh is enough to go through light rain without being wet. The Taichi DrymasterX packs into a super small pouch, so that's perfect to have it on the bike all the time.

@Cyberpig, someone else reported his side stand signal not working, yes. -> UM !

Agreed, always a solution if you look hard enough. And it's worth looking for, as riding in Malaysia is just extension of riding in Singapore. Weekend riding through Indo would be more of an adventure. I'm sure someone has the answer. If SG ferries can ride from Harbourfront to Batam /Bintan, then there must be a charter service that can do the same. Ask around, ask on the forum. I'll keep digging. I've got friends as well that would love to join if we find the answer.

I'm essentially riding with gear designed with triple layer, for all weather. But not for local weather. I have a feeling I'll probably join the mesh jacket camp eventually, but i'm going to give my recent expensive (i.e. stupid) purchase a go first.
