5mins per stop?

Pulsar is an air-cooled bike. i really suggest u think thru the stops and how long. Your target is to reach thailand not to RUSH n reach there with a broken bike where no spares are avaliable.

If u achieve ur target n reach KL by 1am, i foresee u wun be able to even the thai border at 7am. Bikes are machines that generate heat. heat causes loss of energy. the hotter the bike becomes the less efficient it is.

Please re-consider on ur schedule.

i agree. better stop a bit longer for d bike 2 cool down. its ok to take longer time to get there. my main purpose is a tired but relaxing journey. no rush is required.

Guys, This trip will be tough and a test of endurance for the us. But is a achievement and a sense of satisfaction we will get when we complete this event. Going North towards Thailand in above 200 (2A & 2)cc bike is common. but going up North in a 180 & 200cc is a challenge. Not many 2B bike is willing to travel North, is lack of guts or simply the bike cannot make it ? I sure and trust that many of our fellow new 2b rider will be envy of us. and this also will prove to others that BAJAJ PULSAR is TOUGH and is able to reach Thailand and back.

So who are willing to take up this challenge ?

1)Nemesis

2)Sc Gaban

3) Suvespa

4) Alantic 200

5) jSLIVERWING

6)Lindavw (tbc)

2009 Bajaj Pulsar 180 Upgrade

http://www.motorbeam.com/bikes/bajaj-pulsar-bikes/2009-bajaj-pulsar-180-upgrade/

While enthusiasts are waiting for the upgraded Pulsar 200 and the upgraded Pulsar 220, Bajaj seems to give the Pulsar 180 preference and is planning to launch it before the other Pulsars. The reason can be quite obvious - The TVS Apache 180. There is a very miniscule rise in power to 17.02PS @ 8500rpm compared to the earlier P180s power output of 16.51PS at the same rpm. Thanks to the borrowed swingarm from the 220/Avenger, the kerb weight has gone up to 147kgs from an earlier 143kgs. The wheelbase has also increased by 25mm to 1345mm. The bike no longer has kick-start and the rider will have to rely on battery power for ignition.

Visually, this bike looks strikingly similar to the Pulsar 200 but a trained eye can quickly spot the difference. Bajaj have once again mixed and matched a lot of components from its portfolio to make the 180 appear evn more muscular. The exhaust styling remains unchanged though. The bike will be available across all Bajaj showromms by the end of this week. It is likely to retail for around Rs.3,000 more than the previous 180 model. The upgrade Pulsar 180 is expected to be launched by end of this month.

Upgrades in the 2009 Pulsar 180 :-

Front Suspension:

The bike now gets the 37mm fork assembly from the Pulsar 220 and promises more stability in corners. The bottom pipes are finished in matte black unlike the silver used on the 220.

Steering Tee:

The steering tee is lifted straight from the 220’s chasis again. The new 180 also gets the clip-ons from the 220 which should aid handling and wrist comfort to an extent.

Rear Suspension, Tyre and Sprockets:

The swingarm for the new 180 comes from the 220/Avenger and is finished in black. The rear sprocket and the O-ring chain come from the 200. The rear tyre is wider with a 120 section width similar to the 200/220.

Seating:

The outgoing models single step seat unit has been traded in for split seats from the 200/220. The pillion seat gets th same grabrails as the bigger Pulsars.

Body Panels:

While the majority of the body panels remain similar to the outgoing 180, the new bike gets the tank extensions from the 200. The ‘Pulsar’ monogram on the tank is more pronounced with a metallic finish unlike the rubberized one on the 200/220.

Seating:

The outgoing models single step seat unit has been traded in for split seats from the 200/220. The pillion seat gets th same grabrails as the bigger Pulsars.

Bajaj is also going to revamp the Pulsar 150 but the changes are purely cosmetic. The bike will merely receive the ‘All Black’ treatment for is engine and alloy wheels The tank extensions of the Pulsar 200 have also managed to find a place on the 2009 Pulsar 150.

brO... our bike is AIR-COOL, and since u are a tourer... u must have notice that how air is much more cooler at nite.... and take into consideration of high forest density area along NSH. the AIR is even much more cooling than urban area in the nite.

That the reason why we chose to travel at nite. Let nature help us cool our air-cool bike.

And Also, Have u consider Fatigue FActor ? a rider concentration last onli 12 hours.

anyway, personally, i've proven that the bike can run 21 hours straight. but that's with a short break with every delivery. and i've rode through the night for 10 hours straight before. the engine feels very much more at ease with cooler air. there really is a lot of difference between riding during day or night. the only important thing to ride at high speed throughout the journey is to lower the rear sprockets. and if you guys planning to ride for more than 12 hours, a power nap of 15 mins or so will do you guys some good. and i guess i won't be joining. :(

i still think 12 hrs not realistic.

12 hours is really impossible to achieve. all i can say to you guys is to prove it wrong! good luck on your journey.

SBF Moderator Hatyai preferred route

Just a bit of info from a Moderator on the distance to cover so that roughly you can gauge the time needed to cover the distance based on the travelling speed and the stop intervals and rest times to reach Thailand Hatyai.

Your travelling route may differ but this is just a gauge that u can use.

Maybe u can plan something out like the link so that everyone has an idea how the road trip will be like. Just my suggestion.

Better to be Late then Never....

agreeded... :thumb::thumb::thumb::thumb:

slow and steady... but not too slack and slow:dozed:... constant and safe:thumb:.

we must be gentle to the bike and also take note of our own rider's fatigue level.

this trip targeted at both area. Rider and his bike.

1) If the bike can make it, but the rider is too tired due to too much resting.... fatigue level too high...

end of day, accident can happen due to level of fatigue. NO good.

2) Too much stress to bike also no good. Bike break down due to over stress, end of day, have to tow back to singapore... Also NO GOOD...

Win Win Situation.....

A human concentration limit is 12 hours after that it start to lower down...

So theme for this trip is to travel constant within the bike capacity and yet doesn't compromise the rider level of fatigue.

Meaning... for the first few hundred click, both rider and bike are in high morale and good condition... that why we need to cover much ground as much as possible. after reaching about KL, we can start to have longer rest for both bike and rider. :thumb:
