riding a '08 ug3 fuel consumption ranging from 36km/l-43km/l always pump when left 1 bar on my fuel guage. manage to squeeze in only about 12L max

bro of pulsar thread went to UM to do my bike, these are the stuff i replaced. previous owner b*****d, ride 2yrs dont even bother to change anything. in the end i got to change all items which lasted him for 2yrs. suay!!!

 

so far changed:

 

1. DRYcell battery, shinko brand $58 (kena chop, i believe). NOT AT UM!

 

2. Rear brake pad $18. modified of japan parts. NOT AT UM!

 

3. oil leak at top of engine, replace camshaft cap 1pc & 2piece tappet cover O ring. $45

 

4. oil leak below engine, replace oil seal 1x output shaft, 1x shift lever & 1x O ring sprocket collar. $13

 

5. welded exhaust pipe $15 (crack n air escaping out, loss power)

 

6. engine oil 1 bottle $10

 

7. Air filter 1x $8.50

 

8. exhaust gasket 1x $3.50

 

9. diaphragm 1x $25 (@#$!$@!$ a piece of rubber so ex.)

 

cant believe so much thing got to replaced, doubting whether this bike really lasting anot!

 

btw my weight is ard 70kg. 36km/litre!

Hi everyone. Pretty much an absolute noob when it comes to bikes and stuff. I have been lurking around this forum to gather more info on bikes lately, cause school's gonna start soon, and thought that a bike will definately facilitate commuting from home and school. Heard positive stuff about Bajaj bikes, and for class 2B, I think a Pulsar is pretty solid overall. My decision was between a Pulsar and one other bike model which I was considering earlier, but I think I should be getting Pulsar in the next few months or so. But I have one important question, what is the difference between 180 or 200? Cause for a bike-noob like me, it seems like there's little difference between the two, am I right to say that?? And how's the Sg Bajaj community? Thanks everyone...

btw, anyone overhauled b4? can state price? i just need a rough figure. mine hitting 60000km so im preparing for complete overhaul

this wan abit kenna chop. anyway everyone will kenna chop once in a while wan le.. jus that more or less only.

 

UM i think selling $48

 

anyway bike batt can last abt 2 to 3 yrs. mine almost 3yrs.. still going strong

front normal 15 teeths, back can play 38~40 teeths. org is 42 teeths

anyway if ur engine nothing wrong but don overhaul.. cos will have more problem wan.

Some idiot in the CTE tunnel tried to play punk with me, weave in front of me, jam brake all. managed to get part of license plate and make n colour of car. pretty sure there are LTA cams in the tunnel for EMAS, so wanna write in to see if can get the driver some points.

U can call LTA hotline... which is 1800- CALLLTA, they will refer your complain and forward to TP. which later TP will call u ask for ur EMAIL, follow by an email asking u the following :

 

We empathize with the unpleasant experience which you encountered on theroad. You may wish to provide us with the following information for appropriateaction to be taken against the offending driver:- your particulars (full name, address, NRIC); and- your confirmation of willingness to testify in court should theoffender dispute the case. Upon receiving your email, our officers from Investigation and ViolationReports Branch will then conduct investigations. Please be assured thatyour particulars are required for verification and will be kept strictlyconfidential for the purpose of investigations. You may be required to provide your statement to the Investigation Officer in Traffic Police ifthe driver disputes the offence.

 

If u never reply, TP will contact u and ask u what happen.... Please take note of the time, date and location.... TIME is very important... cause if possible they can trace thru the camera along CTE.

Hi Polar,

 

Main difference :

 

Pulsar180 UGx are 180cc and the other is a 200cc

180cc is air cooled (200cc oil cooled)

180cc with electric and kick start (200cc only electric start)

180cc use 1litre engine oil (200cc uses 1.2litre)

180cc exhaust is matt black (200cc is chrome and bigger)

200cc has split seats.

Appearance wise the 200cc looks better but not in a big way compared to 180cc.

 

These are basically the main differences, but the bottom line is, you've gotto make a trip down to UM personally and beo at the 2 bikes, feel them, mount them before u can know which one is the one for you.

 

But if u r looking for speed, think you better re-evaluate your choices.

 

As for the Pulsar group, after gathering some info inside here, u should know the thread is rather active and should u have any problem, u can jus give our Pulsar Mother Ship(PMS) a call. Nemesis number is pasted everywhere in this thread. Heheheh... Don't worry, he's a very friendly guy.

can any pulsar owner provide information if their parts are replace with japanese parts instead of Bajaj parts. i'm interested to know.

 

UM can't give discount on parts, hai. original dealer also cant give us discount, got to find cheaper japanese parts in case i need replacement for my pulsar 180.

btw i only manage to get 36km per litre of petrol. any advice on how to get 40+/litre time to time i speed to 80 - 90km/hr. average speed is abt 75km/hr

i disagree. my weight is also abt 80kg. somemore i always pillion my wife around. my fc is about 43km/L.

 

my traveling speed always matches the speed limit of the area. but i try to accelerate gradually unlike the kup-zais who speed off at the traffic light. true that im always one of the last one off the line, but i can go so much further on the same tank of fuel.

 

interestingly, my last tank of fuel took me past 700km on a single tank without hitting reserve. think i must have squeezed in more fuel on the last top up

 

breadman u pillion ur wife only ar. i always got pillion ppl 1 loh. beside my gf my friend (70kg) then my weight also 65. i still can get 48/L even dun have that i get 45/L hehehehehe. my normal speed on road is 80, high way is 100 and small road is 40 hahahaha which i'll take when main road damn jam and i go small road enjoy the view and have more fresh air hahahahaha.

so far bike has no major prob past yrs.. common ones are just oil leak and the ever-so-frequent hardened diaphragm.

the bike feels ok besides the high stress at high speed. i worry cos i nvr need to change the any engine parts so far. not even clutch plates and mileage is nearly 60000km. Y i worry? cos i used to ride scrambler.. not used to not changing any major parts for so long
