i think most of these cases happens in jb n KL cos these are so called 'hot-spots'. from my experience n point of view, the further up north u go, the lesser these crimes occur. ive went up north few times. so far, ive never heard of extreme cases there.

i might be wrong though. well it depends.

thx , but can someone tell me the cons of the bike?

just maintain ur oil every 1000km, its cheap. i used castrol 20-50 from jb, which cost around SGD9. lube ur chain every 300-400km. even if it rains, lube it. monthly maintanence is cheap, but wen comes to parts.. ayoyo...

there are a few cons of the bike that i could remember. dun ever wack ur bike. the often u wack, the more wear n tear occurs. thats wear these mysterious 'porblems' start to arise. careful with the rear breaks. the breaks arnt too effective. the breaks are meant for indian roads.

all bajaj parts r meant for indian roads. The cons could be anything, varying from parts to wiring, pulsar is an 'alien' bike compared to other bikes in singapore. the handle will wobble at certain times, if u wana change from stock tyres to any other branded tyres, change ur spoc n chain as well.stock tyres looks huge but light n slippery.

in spoc sizes, if u wana go for pick up (which ur arnt using highway ALL THE TiME), u can go for front 15 rear 39. there are several sizes u can play around wif. i used front 15 rear 37 cos 90% of my ride i use highway and i HAVE to wack it, cos highway mah :). it depends on u. get wwat i mean? hope dis helps.

eh brother.. you too rich ah.. every 1000km change oil. recommended is 2000km then change. i can understand if it is your preference on certain practices, but when it comes to giving advice to new members interested in pulsar, perhaps we should stick to the recommended levels stated in the manual so as not to mislead the new members.

changing oil too often is harming the environment as well. consuming of natural resources eh.. but i guess if you are one of the racing types, then changing oil more frequently is probably advisable.

to the p200 users out there, do you guys think that our chain is more lasting due to its size compared to the p180? my bike is close to a year and have not gone thru a single tightening and the sprockets are still blunt. maybe too early to tell?

good question, i never really considered that, i just assumed that they should be relatively weather resistant. haven't used it all that often, will try it out after my next wash.

was looking at the snail horns too, till read some reviews abt how the shape makes it harder to dry out and how water flicked up from the front tyres will go in if pointed down, and rain will go in if pointed forwards.

then again, i think the newer ones have drain holes drilled before the diaphragm to let the water out.

maybe i should go buy a crashbar and install those too, since i have another set of leads from my old stock horns left over. can use those to trigger another relay.

cfm cars can hear! :cheeky:

yeah i've also read that snail horns is susceptible to water also, even if the lobang of the snail horn faces behind, airflow can force the water backwards into the horn if the airflow is such.

the most waterproof is probably the bicycle bell.. ding ding...

Hey again guys.

Just wondering where are you guys meeting for this month? Next Saturday right?

I want to get opinions from fellow Pulsarian cause I think there's something wrong with my Pulsar 180 Engine. It has a weird noise (due to piston?). Went to UM last week for normal servicing and change EO and they said it's leaking (but very little, some said might be due to gasket) and many other problems but I forgot to ask how much is it to fix it. Does it considered overhaul? Anyone overhaul before? How much most likely the cost? My bike is about 5yrs and I'm the 2nd owner, bought it in Feb this year from other shop, not UM.

My maximum mileage also about 360+ km. I hear from posters here can go more even though you travel more than 90km/hr with fuel about 15L. The same day I went to UM and asked about the mileage, one of the mech told me not to speed more than 90km/h to save petrol and the RPM should try to maintain below 6.5rpm. Said something about below 6.5rpm is dual spark plug while >6.5rpm is only one spark plug. Had no idea what that mean.

Hopefully can finally meet anyone of you people to get help for my pulsar. Really new to bikes and this Pulsar is my first bike. Plan to use it for the next few years at least so want to start taking care and fix it.

Edit: Ah, I realised that I'm working next Saturday and I also remembered you guys meeting at Kallang KFC. Hopefully can meet anyone else on other days. Maybe have a mini outing? Just wondering. Newbie. Ahaha.

Hm.. Can anyone help me answer some question? Maybe you guys missed it earlier.

hi bro. its tough to diagnose your problems with worded descriptions on the forum. best is if our bajaj techies can see your bike and try it in person before making a informed diagnosis.

i would recommend you look for Ah-Heng at UM and let him identify the parts that need changing. might or might not need to overhaul.

mileage per tank is dependent on a number of variables. age of engine, grip of tyres, weight of bike and rider, style of riding, speed of acceleration, time of travel (or rather, temperature of surrounding), grade of fuel, maintenance of bike.. etc. my tank of 16L can hit 680km usually. abt the spark plugs, its true. certain times only run on one plug while other times run on both. this one best to leave it to lindavw or other techies to answer ur question.

dun worry abt not being able to meet us on the SBT saturday outing. you can always ask to meet up with Nemesis or other knowledgeable riders to learn from them. unfortunately im more of those interim replier.. lol.. not knowledgeable enough.

hope this helps.

u wana overhaul? think twice. gasket change - labor=SGD$200 minus the gaskets itself

i asked UM to change ONLY my crankshaft which is CONSIDERED OVERHAUL- crankshaft=SGD50+ plus labor=SGD400. wat breadman said, ask AH HENG at UM.

Recently I had problem with the horn. Though I do not use it that often, whenever I wanted it was very hard to buzz. I had to press extra to make it to cry !

When I went to UM this time for EO change, I asked the mechanic to take a look. He opened up the switch and first he thought it is magnetic material has the problem. He cleaned the rust and filed it to look brighter. Even then the problem was still there. Finally instead of filing on metal, he filed on plastic surface on the other side. To my surprise it worked finally. Guess the dusts and coating on plastic made it thicker to work against. Well, this simple technique took 30 mins !

Sharing my experience.

Hi Guys,

I'm a new P180 rider. bought it 3rd hand from another person. I've been riding for the past month and its also my first bike. Would like to find out more about my bike and to-do's and not-to-do's during the meet-up sessions (not sure when and where they are). or from any experienced ppl around? Thank you and hoping to hear from u guys soon. Cheers

Mehh... I feel so noob :slapforehead:

I went down today to pay for the bike, thought can pay and ride cause when I called UM and asked about installment, they tell me downpayment $1200 can ride and go..

Now I think about it, they probably meant it's legally my bike once I pay $1200 and guarantor signs...

Felt a bit kuku bringing the helmet to UM and going home in public transport with the helmet :cheeky:

Also, any prospective Pulsar owners, NO MORE 200cc BLACK COLOUR!!! So sad...

I took blue :p

Safety tips:

Always STOP at the STOP LINE!

Don't rush. You're not racing for a record.

Always look in front, especially when trying to change lanes, the vehicle in front might jam brake.

Don't be easily offended, a**holes exists, mingling with them gets you sh*t.
