hi guys its me again.. - the kid who always whine about not getting a bike..-

I just receive this latest news.. remember about my post.. of my friend letting go his pulsar ug-1 at about $500 cash and continue his installment..?

now he is letting it off for free.. and only just for me to continue the installment...

I think its a very good offer not to turn down..

he's coming down to my place... and just need your help/advice.. on what to look for or check on a bike.. for inspection...

like the cluctch ke..brake ke.. fork ke.. etc etc... cos i don't know that much...

my mother ask me to go check first... then she will ask her friend to view the bike also and talk to my friend another day...

Bottom line is..

hmm.. so far any problem for ug-1 ??? and what do i have to check on that bike...

oh yea he says his bike got vibration when moving off... wat could be the problem???... the electric start also there's problem... and he mentioned about weird sound of at the exhaust.. wats that?? ... is this all normal.. or its already in condition zero??

cos he's will be around my area at about 9-1 pm..

can anyone reply me asap... it will be good ...

yeah today.. 5th of july... gonna meet him...

I've pmed Goof and SuVespa about this also.. but I have to post in the thread too.. to get those senior threader advice/help ... like Nemesis5k, chaoz, lindavw... so on and on... etc...

help this young padawan.

thanks.

Bro, my take here is that you are attracted by the "Zero Downpayment". You only need to continue his installment. Bear in mind that usually shops will want you to payup a few months first when doing a transfer.

Even so, with more than $3.5k you can get a newer version and hopefully less problematic bike. It does not matter how long you take to find a bike, what is important is the price that you ultimately pay vs the condition of the bike.

You start off with just $95 per month, but think about the money that you will need to spend initially to repair and do up the bike. You might as well put that money on another bike that saves you the trouble of going to workshop every week.

Ultimately it is your choice, these are just my point of views, hope you don't get too upset over my views.

yearh... honestly attracted by its zero downpay...

too think again.. whether it is a good choice over the $95 for 42 months..

its another stall question..

the shop will ask to pay for the first 2 months after transfer to new owner..?

is it true??

narr man.. im not upset of your advice.. welcome all :)

Ups to our Chief Mech for the Alarm installation:thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

But the sensitivity adjustments still need a bit of R&D from all brothers installed with the alarm.

How to reduce the sensitivity without cutting the green wire possible?

Can we dampen that wire sensitivity so that it doesn't trigger at the slightest vibration? Dont want to experience what Nemesis experienced.........:D :D :D

Furthermore National Day aorund the corner sure got more practice flights going on.........LOL

No need fly pasts from NDP aircrafts to activate the alarm. Ride pasts from other bikes were enough to activate SuVespa's & my bikes' alarms at AGL last nite

No need R&D by all of us lah. Our exhaulted Mothership will see to that. Adriel, another nick for u - Guinea Pig :cheeky:

Bro Mastera,

This is my personal take on ur matter. B4 u consider whether ur fren's offer is gd or not, whether the bike is gd or not, u gotta really plan ur budget and ask urself whether u can afford a bike. Not just buying it, but keeping and maintaining it. Yes, zero downpayment. But on top of the mthly installment of $95, there's

- parking: season $15 for open-air, $17 for MCP, + parking at other than ur residential carpark.

- rd tax: $32 for 6 mths

- insurance: can be quite a sum cos u're young and new rider

- regular servicing/maintenance: luckily for us, relatively inexpensive for Pulsar

- replacement of parts: unluckily for us, relatively expensive for Pulsar

- repair bill for accident due to ur own fault: I dun think u're gonna get comprehensive coverage, are u?

- petrol: Pulsar low FC, but still drink petrol hor

- ERP: ad hoc only tho cos u SP student rite?

- & yes, if u COI, shops will usually ask for 2-3 mths installment upfront, so not really zero downpayment already lor

Having said the above, I must qualify that I'm not discouraging u lah. Just want u to think with ur head, not just with ur heart. I know for a young fella like u who just got ur licence, the urge to get a bike is irresistable. Trust me, few mths of riding 'ur' UG1, that urge will quickly shift towards getting 2A licence and 2A bike.

Just my 2-sen's worth ok. At the end of the day, wat u do with ur $ is up to u.

 :goodluck:

bo hua , 3.5k for a ug1? thats madness

i bought my ug2 for less then 2.8k , after doing up my bike , i spent a total of about 1k. ( insurance ..maintaince..crash bar..alarm etc )

and ug1 is ugly .

my take is it's not worth it , but then again nobody can stop u from being a carrot...

hello bros!

I just purchased the pulsar 180 from UMP.

I'll be collecting on monday.

Any things/signs to look out foor?

GIUI bracket + 48 litre black zeus storage box ok or not?

hmmm anyway guys... i've checked it out..

it vibrates alot...and very hard to control... there's this sound at the exhaust section.. because of the screw loose covering the exhaust.. ( yea damn me.. i dont know the part name of that..)

I realise that as the rpm goes higher.. there's no vibration .. only on the first 10 to 50 km/h range.. it will vibrate badly..

during the test drive.. i wobble here and there on the road.. because of the vibration...

i think it looks pretty bad..

i cant stand the vibrations...

I think i'm back to square one then..

If from UMPL, no worries lah. Just make sure u got the whole package that was agreed upon when u closed the deal. Dun forget the bike owner's manual and freebies like helmet, rainsuit, bike cover, P-plate (if u need), 1st 3 servicing (if u thick-skinned, can try asking for 1st 5) including engine oil.

The Zeus box is 45L. Ok or not depends on how much stuff u wanna put in it.

Enjoy ur new ride!

Sensitivity Control for our Alarm.

The sensitivity setting for our alarm is set at factory standard which is super sensitive. the onli way to solve this problem is using a black tape to tape the green wire to the chassis of the bike. HOW to tape will determine your alarm sensitivity level. There is no need to trim the wires.

HOw u like to have ur senetivity level to be, that will depend on the owner itself. Still u need to DIY yourself.

in meanwhile i will still R&D this problem.

Already taped the wire to a metal part under the seat. Even that didn't stop my alarm from going off when the rain fell.

So which part of the bike do u suggest we tape the wire to?

Can it be done only if the bike begin knock or kana people push abit then the bike shake abit then trigger the alarm, i think yesterday a cat jump on my bike then the alarm trigger :slapforehead: .. too sensitive also not very good :sian:

my front seat is less sensitive then back sit, how to adjust to both seat the same or even front seat more sensitive than back seat

congrats bruder!! so u had your TP at Ubi ah..

anyway just follow the manual can already liao.. try to have steady and slow pick-up.. i forgot what the recommended top speed for running, but 2 years ago when i do running i was at top speed of 60-65km/h.. super kiasu.. after this two years, no problem with my bike.. only normal service and wear and tear parts je....

Thanks droogs but I take my tp at SSDC. 60-65? Oh ok but the mechanic at UM said I can ride my pulsar200 till 80km/h and rpm nt exceeding 6rpm.

Question to all old timer,

Sometimes on the expressway while riding at 5th(last) gear, I will clutch in and let the bike run on freewheel and after the speed drops, i will release the clutch and pick up speed again while still at 5th gear. Isit ok? Will it damage the engine or something. The reason i do this is to let the engine relax a bit. PLs advise. Thanks.

u wanna relax the engine? or want to save fuel? hehe. either way, dont think its tt good.

coz u can feel quite a bit of drag when u release clutch, especially if u dont throttle enuf.

and i feel tt when tt happens,u will be adding wear to the clutch plate.

tt's all..

and bout the running in,dont think the speed matters, just the rpm, so the 80kmph guide is an estimate of when the rpm reach the level suitable for running in..

During run-in, RPM is more important than speed.

-Keep your engine below the recommended RPM.

-Do not stay in the same RPM for long durations.

-Vary your RPM as much as possible.

Freewheel is ok, just be careful of the traffic around.

Take care.
