same case happened to me months ago before i got my pulsar..when i still riding my Y125z...the best thing is..the officer still can ask me in malay.."i summon u eh?"

 

Anyway..paid n left...but one weird thing is..they are very well-mannered n polite..still can give me advice after i paid...next time dont go over the car lane..many accidents has happened here..bla bla bla...

 

Fcuk PDRM!..i dun give a fcuk about political-bribe taking cops...

Me I would let him summon. I'd say, look if you think it's an offense, just do what you have to do. And let him sort it out. I'll tell him to his face I got robbed 2min ago of my wallet and I don't have anything so he can summon. He can even take me to the police station or something if he wants to take my full details.

 

He can't take your passport from you and he can't take your license from you. He can't keep your bike neither. Since you have not caused any accident, all he can do is fine you and ask you to pay. Actually, he can't even keep you in the country because it is not a major offense. He can take your home address and particulars and send the fine to your home but he cannot stop you from going back to Singapore. He can only keep you if this offense is by law punishable by jail. Of course, it's not and he knows it.

 

Your responsibility is to pay the offense once written to you. And usually they will not want to go back to the station with you because this is not an offense and because they don't want to make a big deal out of it, they just want some cash. They are playing on two things: 1. you did something not completely safe (although, AGAIN it is not illegal!) and 2. you are a foreigner and you don't want trouble.

Don't hesitate to put your foot down and play dumb, he says he will fine you 300RM, then say ok but how am I going to pay, I really have nothing on me !

Plus question things dumbly: "how come it's so much, I only made a quick go through the car lane, I didn't cause any accident, I don't understand..." Talk you way out of it, remember, he is just intimidating you.

 

Always put your license and passport in a different place than your wallet and cash. And better if you break your cash in two: super small bills in a near pocket (jean/jacket) and bigger bills in another place (bag, inside pocket).

 

Me usually, I even travel with a photocopy of my passport. I only show my passport at the customs. Anything else, I don't care if the guy is wearing a Colonel uniform, I give my photocopy. If I can't see the guy's ID, and I am not in an official police building, I don't give my passport. I just say that I have been robbed before and as a tourist I want to be cautious, so he can take me to the police station and then look at my passport or ask me anything he wants.

 

I may sound very paranoid but I know SG is the safest place in the world, and living here you tend to forget how it is in the real world So I am trying to be as careful as I can with money and papers.

 

But of course, best thing to do is stick to the traffic rules at all times - even like that some police officers will invent offenses to stop you and bully you, but at least you don't give them a chance to catch you doing something.

hey guys just for awareness,

 

today i was stopped by a traffic policeman near jb custom while heading back to spore. i went into the car lane n switched back to the bikes lane after the traffic light.

 

i was shocked when he stopped me as i was quite sure this doesnt warrant an offence. den he tried to telll me in his half broken english and malay that the fine would be minimum of 300rm if i chose to do it the legal way.

 

as i had only 20rm left after pumping petrol i told him i had no rm. so he told me i could top up in spore dollars. i refused to open up my wallet to show him how much i had though he kept pointing at my wallet. lucky for me he decided to accept the 20rm which i kept inside my bag after the pump (if i had put the money in my wallet he would have saw the 100 dollar SGD i actually had! lucky me)

 

so bros out there be careful. cheap lesson for me. i've checked n i have not committed an offence. i read previous threads some people have paid bribes 100rm or more.

 

I frequent jb very often for petrol, always saw those police near the jb custome when going back, waiting to catch s'porean for $$$ just ride slowly and stick to your own lane as mention by nimboman. This blood suckers r out there to suck us dry.....

went UM today to just check out the sound from my engine

in the end the rubbing sound solved,change brake shoe cos almost worn out

and just about to leave that time chris saw my rear tire like abit flat and ask jacky to check

found it slowly leaking at the point where it was last patched

Hhmmm, think I mentioned in my earlier posts eh? It's the exhausTEC. It's the square box that modifies the backpressure to gain that extra 1HP over the earliest model without exhausTEC.

 

It also ends up becoming the collection box for all the carbon/rust/bits n pieces inside the exhaust. So it will make that annoying rattling and clinking sound. What UM recommended if it happens too often, is to cut the piping, then weld pieces of metal to block off the air passage into the exhausTEC. Doing this will rob you of that 1extra HP though.

 

So, 1) Live with the box and inevitably end up with the clinking and the need to shake it out now n then. or

 

2) Cut n weld, lose 1HP and *possibly* no longer suffer the clinking noise every other half a year.

 

Think later headers are SS? So hopefully won't have this problem eh?

I really like Triumph bikes. Very popular in the US, with infinite mds possibilities. This one is a 600cc I think ? I didn't know people had them in SG, I just assumed they wouldn't import them - then again, there are Harley riders in SG ...
