Hey guys, I'm thinking of installing a tachometer to my shadow.

See here and here. One thing I don't understand is, how will the tachometer get the engine revs reading? Considering Shadows do not have an existing tachometer, so what will it connect to?

P.s. Anyone knows the rev limit for Shadows? Like when is redline or when's a good timing to change up etc? XD

Like all bikes, you have to feel the engine when to change up. My tachometer is connected to the main ignition coil spark plug cable, then from there, somehow it can read the RPM. I don't really know the physics behind this. Was told it's something to do with magnetism and induction but I need to dig up that website from 3 years ago when I was searching for the answer to the same question.

Send to bike shop to check first see if can repair. A few shops u can try, planet, first motor and rosli.

You are welcome! If u intend to go Planet, better go at 10am, else most likely you will be spending at least half a day there. :D

Yes, mirrors are important. :D I find Honda Stock Mirrors are the best. And I kiasi so I also put in convex mirrors for blindspot. :p

Got it. Was tinkin of going over at 9:30 actually..hehe...

Lucky ting u mentioned 10am cos if not will prob b squatting there! Lol..

Nways, Juz to update. I managed to go bk to wkshop that serviced my bike to ask about d pick up n stufz.

Gave a try n bike ran till 120km/h but felt it vibrating abit at dat speed.

Is dat normal??

Asked d mechanic n he said could b d new air filter plus to let it run in abit...dunno if true??

Nways...m off to planet tmrw to get my LCD sorted out hopefully and ask if dey got d right side mirrors!

Cheers! :)

Shadow Ace full throttle can go 140km/hr. The only thing is the pickup is slow, but it is very comfortable. Vibration more or less will have, but if you are saying the vibration is vigorously, then it is not right.

I guess m new to d bike so m kinda concerned about all d little things cos wanna make sure all good..

Vibration not too bad but can feel it slightly still...if I make sense?? :)

Was actually kinda "gubrah" abit gg dwn expressway at 120..din dare to try any faster. :p

Went to Planet tday to hv my LCD odometer looked at.

Was told dat d LCD can't b repaired n d only way was to change d whole speedometer set.

Kinda disappointed cos had to fork out more "moolah"...still went for it tho n nw I hv

a NEW bike!! :cheeky:

Had my brakes checked n mirrors replaced too.

M broke but happy??!

Sure ting. Damages were as follows:

a) Side mirrors (d generic type for Honda bikes) - $24

b) Brake fluids - $10

c) Speedometer set - $200+

Total bill paid out was $330. Has to b cos of labour I guess plus he also adjusted my brakes n timing.

According to Chong, problem of bike not running smoothly was due to carburettor.

Only way to solve was to leave bike at his shop for abt 2 days for him to wash carbs n tune bike.

Damages for dat would b $100.

Needed d bike n was broke by then so will kiv for next round.

Dun really noe hw to explain it rt but will try...tried pushin d bike and made it to abt 120+ but was abit

Slow to get there. While on d different gears, m not sure if I opened d throttle too much but felt d bike

kinda "hiccup"?? Like there was too much air or mayb petrol?? Or d lack of it??

Nways, m makin sure dat bike warmed up poperly b4 movin off n trying to go ez on d throttle

to c if prob is me n I nd repairing?!? :cheeky:

last time i cleaned carb at rosli, i was charged $80. maybe you want to drop by there?

Of course I trust my skills. I ride alone cos I don't trust the competency of the driver next to me.

Tks much. Will give Abang Ros a try next time. Mayb abit paiseh tho cos d workshop dat did d repairs for me originally really nearby at same row!? :p

Are the side mirrors new? If so, $24 is a steal. If 2nd hand, might as well go to scrapyard. I got my standard Honda side mirrors for $15 without bargaining
