actually 400 cc version is for japanese market. While 600 cc and 1100 cc are for us market.

Your best bet are parts originally intended for 400cc and 750 cc version, though its always a risk. What you can do is to go down to boon siew and consult their parts department. They've got very detialed catalogs for most honda bikes and can give you some advice in terms of inter-compatibility. After all you are not obliged to buy in the end.

:goodluck:

do you happen to know the valve clearance specs for the shadow ace 400?

Are they the same as the clearance specs for ace 750?

how do u intend to get the parts?

online?

if u not too sure the compatibility advise u not to buy online

i was also told that our 400cc shadow parts r compatible with 750cc

but still need to take risk u decide

if buy from local shops or mechanic

u can avoid such risk

Valve clearance means checking the minimum gap between fully-open valve and piston at Top Dead Center. Don't need new parts, just adjust only.

When it gets bad, your valves will start hitting the piston. You can imagine how bad that will be so checking once in a while is good.

However I've check with 3 workshops. All are unwilling to do valve clearance and claim that it is unecessary. I think it's simply because they think it's too much work for just a preventive maintenence. Either that or they think waiting until the valves actually start hitting then do the adjustment makes more sense.

I was still thinking to change so tat I could squeeze thru lane

Old guy but back to the scene after 20 yrs

Got the bike 3 months ago

The only thing I did was bought the side boxes overseas

Change the radiator new cost me $450

My mechanic was scolding me

Change the brake fluid reservoir new

The outlook of the bike is the credit of the previous owner

I only add the 2 side boxes

I like the matte look make it old school

The exhaust wrap make it old school

The without back box make it even old school

I m old school

not sure the handle is Stock, i also like the matte painting , but the warp is not my cup of tea, if you change for smaller handle you will loose the global look the box and the light match really well the bike, at your place i will go a little more far in the "old Indian style" rlidn.gif by the front mud guard a little like this (but this is my taste)....

BTW if 66 is your year we are same generation

That's before .... wait to see After

Nice.. I love the boxes. Matches the bike. Extra visibility from behind too thanks to the extra lights.

How much did the new brake reservoir cost? I'm considering changing mine as they're badly tarnished and would take at least a whole weekend of sanding and polishing to make it nice, not to mention changing of brake fluid after removing them...

Happy Holidays One Headlight! I'm looking at riding boots right now :)

I think the brake reservoir cost about $150

Can call fjt motor

I bought from them

If it is working well no point changing

Cos the material of the reservoir unlikely will make it very chrome

The boxes I got it online

Could not find nice ones locally

Hi everyone,

I just bought a 1999 shadow 400 about a week ago,

I had problems accelerating as it will kinda like sluggish when I open throttle.

It will accelerate then suddenly de accelerate for a while then accelerate again..

thus, I did a servicing of EO change, oil filter, plugs, coolant and clean the carb.

Mech check the air filter and say it can still be used.

I also changed some parts as it was spoiled like throttle, throttle cables and gear leaver.

However after servicing, the bike still have the same sluggish feeling when accelerating.

The bike is picking up slower than buses..

Is it normal for the bike to behave like that??

Also the bike has not been well taken of as it has many rust marks at the frame, chrome and spokes.

Can share how you guys maintain the outlook of the bike??

Will greatly appreciate your advice and thanks alot everyone.

bro i am confused

when I mentioned saddle, i am referring to the seat

saddle = seat

hard saddle box = side box

soft saddle bag = usually leather side bag

stock = comes with the bike when new

customised = added into the bike

hope that clarify
