Thanks to the bros who advised me on the Shadow...I walked away from it....phew! Just bought another and quite happy with it!

Things I have to do now..

1. Service the bike

2. Probably change brake pads

3. Get rid of rusty parts (either change new parts eg mirror, bolts etc)

4. Give it a complete grooming

Any suggestions from owners here? All input definitely appreciated.

Cheers to the Shadow movement :)

Just installed my Cobra Drag pipes. It's loud and obnoxious... just like I wanted. Haha

Aspirin85...condition of my bike not photogenic...not yet, but dun think it'll be anywhere like those shiny shiny ones posted here... sigh, shallow pockets!

First day of my bike was spent at Planet...full service. Then came the shocks (I half expected this from an old bike anyway).

1. Clutch plates, clutch base, clutch holder....change. I was shown the diff betwn the old stuff n the new ones.

2. Brake oil reservoir....change

3. Front tire....change

4. Rectifier...change

5. Of cos all the oils change

Got most of the mechanical problems out of the way. A bunch (and I mean a whole bunch) of wires was removed, apparently redundant.

This was when the mechanic was doing up the rectifier.

She rides smooth now.

Went to Vicom intending to change new IU but guy there told me new type not waterproof...he showed me box full of spoilt ones.

Like that ah....no point...will get a cover to hide the unsightly IU.

Next on my list....take my time to polish whatever's polish-able.

Anyone wanna let go his saddlebags? Or I cud order online...but takes time and also must add shipping costs.

Jubie, did you manage to fix ur odometer problem? Mine can't see at all.

Shadow bros, without an odo, I wont know my service schedule. Of cos I can just send it in 3-mthly intervals or whatever regular period I plan.

But with odo much better. Would I have to buy new speedo (mine still works) instead? If so, where would be a good place to buy with installation?

Not sure if it is just the button. When I press the odo button the screen did not change between trip and odometer. Not sure what's the problem though. Sometimes it flips between the different screen rapidly without me pressing anything.

Hi everyone,

Thanks for your advises and feed backs.

I send my bike to Rosli at Autobay this morning for him to take a look.

However I need to leave it there as he is quite busy.

BTW does Rosli charge high for his services??

Hope my bike do not have major problems..

Quite broke as I had an accident on my GSR 400 a few months back and it was total loss.

I have a few more enquiries, will appreciate your feedback :)

1) I noticed having poor fuel economy on the bike..

About 12 - 14km / Litre of 98 petrol..

I ride slowly with gentle pick up and never more than 90km on expressways.

2) My odometer LCD display is spoilt.

Where and how much can i get a replacement??

3) My bike do not have the original seat, only a small low seat which is uncomfortable..

Is the Shadow ACE 750 / VT750 seat same as the Shadow ACE 400 seat??

Was thinking of getting a set from ebay.

Thanks alot :)

Yes Rosli is slow, so have to chase him. For the seat, the ACE 750 might fit but the VT750 (shaft driven models) won't because Honda re-designed the frame to make the seat height lower.

Mine is 15 yrs. old and I just noticed that the clutch is slipping already. When I twist the throttle, to get more speed, it makes a whining sound and it won't go any faster. If it's still the original clutch plates then It's due for a change. Last November, I repaired the water pump. Age is catching up on our bikes but they're still the best both in looks and performance.

Dark_Angel : Yes, my brakes and tyres are new now so can ride safe. Only need to change speedo as my odometer doesnt work at all.

Coyote66 : Managed to touch 110kph today, and yes, it's still comfortable. Guess anything faster than 130 will require a windscreen but then we're just cruising and enjoying the scenery :)

How much does a paint job cost? Something along the lines of 'One Headlight''s baby?
