So quiet on this thread. Maybe, you're all doing mods on your bike?

Well, I've been busy modding my ride too.

My orders from the US have arrived and I'm was so excited, I installed them

until 2am! :cheeky: Too many mosquito bites but very happy with the results.

Like to share some pictures.

Cobra Slashcut full system exhausts. Freaking loud so I placed the baffles on.

Much better. Love the low grunt sound. Sweet Vtwin music.

Now the drivers notice me when I pass them. :thumb:

Here are two of my favorites.

Vtwin Carburetor Cover. Mounts between the V cylinder heads,

it hides the carbs and accelerator cables. Its hard to install but worth it.

And my tail light accent trim. Looks like one of those "tombstone" design.

I love this.

Hope you guys like it.

How's the power? Any loss on the low end? Also did you re-jet the carb for better power?

The power is still there. If it dipped, I didn't feel it when we rode

on the expressway last friday.

By low end, do you mean taking off? No difference.

No rejetting done because I already rejetted with the previous pipe since

I changed the inside to straights and just welded back on

the original exhaust housing. Looks stock on the outside.

Running on 104mm primary jets now.

One thing I noticed, the bike's ride is much smoother now.

Must be a better flow. Gas consumption is good. Doing 23 kms/liter now.

It went as high as 26 kms/liter with the windshield on.

Few qns abt the windshield

1) Does put in the windshield affect the stability when crusing n turning?

2) what is the optimum height for the windshield for shadow as i got see ppl put in small one( like sport bike wind shield) n those big one (like those tower shield)

3) When it is raining, does the shield really shield yo u frm the rain or just the wind?

thks.

My personal experience and opinion on these:

1. Not drastically. Installed correctly, it adds to the aerodynamics of the ride, so you have better control and fuel efficiency.

2. According to Cruiser Customizing, the ideal height is between your nose and upper lip.

3. Yes it does only when you're moving and in the chest area mostly. You still have to look above the windshield while riding. It's also a great protection from bugs, small rocks and sand.

My ride is currently in the paint shop for a makeover. Changed the color to candy orange and pearl white. Also re-chromed some parts. I'll post pictures soon.

Here's what I'd like it to look like.

Hi. The paint job went really great but instead of candy orange,

I changed it to Passion Orange (Honda Civic SIR) and beige with silver

pipings. You can see it on my signature.

This was the color when I bought it. Black and Brown

Unfortunately, I'm in the Philippines so I can't recommend a good painter there. Some of the guys there have cool rides. Maybe they can recommend a good painter.

no difference when moving off, good fuel consumption with windshield, man, it's quite good. Since you've re-jetted before, the answer is still yes, 'cos the jets isn't stock

Thanks bro.

I took the baffles out and adjusted the idling yesterday.

I'm just curious how much louder it's gonna be.

How many car alarms will I set off? :cheeky:

Well, I took the bike to work yesterday. And yes, it was freekking loud

especially on full throttle. But I noticed that there was a delayed response

when you flick the throttle on take off. This really bothered me.

Therefore, I assume the baffles provide a small amount of back flow pressure that

gave added torque on take-off. And there is a negligible difference in loudness too.

You couldn't tell if the baffles were installed or not.

So this morning, i re-installed the baffles and got my extra torque back.

Btw, I set off 4 car alarms yesterday.

I took a 260 kms ride last weekend and I was surprised that the bike would only go to 110 kmph then it will start to vibrate. I had a hard time overtaking in the expressway.

Lots of take-off power but fades on the top end. I remember that it used to go up to 130 kmph on my stock pipes. I told my mechanic about it and he said we should rejet again. That means higher fuel consumption.

Yesterday, I installed back the original pipes. Big difference at once.

a. Very quiet.

b. Very smooth ride. Slight vibration felt on the floorboard area only.

c. Faster acceleration.

d. The bike looks much better and bigger.

I'm riding again this weekend. I hope to see an improvement in the top end speed and better fuel efficiency.

base on my stock shadow ACE 400cc..

my bike can clear meter.. :D

>for vibration

like what you said, there's a slight vibration at ard 110-120km/hr.. but after 120km/hr... it will go away... untill once u reach past 140km/hr.. the vibration will come back..

>for speed/acceleration

the bike will accelerate up to 110km/hr with ease...

but anything after that.. its a slow crawl between 110km/hr to 130km/hr.. after that it will accelerate a bit faster to 140km/hr... then a slow crawl till u can hit 160km/hr..

>some things i have learnt

up to 120km/hr is very comfortable ride..

if u want to reach top speed, u gotta drag at 4th gear.. (infact, with 4th, there seem to be more power and can reach to 140)

do not open throttle all the way to the limit... u will be just wasting petrol..

i found out that the last bit of throttle didn't make any difference to my bike speed (its just wasting petrol)

so... happy riding bro..

but my advice.. just cruise at 120km/hr.. after all, shadow is a cruiser for you to cruise, relax, and enjoy the ride!!

Thanks for the comments and suggestions bro.

I did peak at 130 kmph again but I couldn't push it further anymore.

Too much vibration and the strong winds made me duck under the winshield.

Maybe I should work more on my gearing?

Cruising at 110-120 is so easy now. Minimal vibration (maybe the kuriyakin

grips helped also?)

One thing for sure: Stock is Good. :cheer:
