i highly doubt duc and aprilia are linked...

As with most manufacturers there is parts commonality between many bikes. Aprilia uses many of the same OEM parts suppliers that Duccati does.

So not only does your Aprilia have wiring supplied by firms such as Pirelli, as well as tires. They also use electrical switches, controls, suspensions, fittings , nuts bolts etc from a wide range of Italian and other Euro suppliers

The same items are found on Piaggo, Vespa, Moto Guzzi, Bimota, MV Agusta et al

actually aprilia's handling is one of the sweetest.. lightweight.. responsive.. super areodynamic body.. cutting thru corner @ 120 anytime..

mito is heavier.. more stable.. superb for corner if u handle well.. distance frm handle to tank is further.. gotta hav long arms 2 ride.. arbo like vivi doing u-turn..! whahahahha.. :p

actually both bikes r gd.. muz noe how 2 maintain.. to me i still prefer aprilia coz of its body.. mito is nice thou.. nvr regret riding mito instead of aprilia.. pickup can fight.. cornering superb.. top end at 180+.. wat do u expect more for a 130kg 125cc machine? :D

er hem.. win liao lor u.. tt time is different circumstances.. so many ppl u turn at same time.. kaoz..

My bike runs fine, reliable and starts up first time, everytime. I've spent over 1k since getting it last year to get it running nicely. It's not the fastest mito around, running with the original 28mm carb (and i'm a little too big for the bike), but it's much better than when i first got it. In the past 12 months i've put about 12000km on the bike. It's serviced every 2 months (going next week for servicing). Total mileage is now close to 63000km.

Ok, here's some things for the potential buyer to look out for.

Tires will need replacing soon and there's a deep scratch on the fuel tank from when some prick dropped it last month. Was planning on repainting the tank and changing the tires before i decided to put it up for sale, but i think i'll leave the tire/colour choice to the new owner. Tank also has paint blemishes from spilled petrol. There are other minor scratches on the tail from stationary drops. (Bike has been dropped 3 times since i got it, twice by me when i first got it and once last month by some prick)

The fuel filter used to get choked up alot when i first got the bike, it's been replaced but i still get FM to clear it everytime i send it for servicing and haven't had any problems since.

Brake pads were replaced at the last servicing, those expensive EBC ones.

Fork seals replaced a few months ago.

Block was changed late last year (bike had a scratched block when i got it)

Other things to look out for in the long run.

Clutch plates are getting worn, but i've been riding the bike with the wear for the past 12 months and it hasn't gotten any worse.

Steering cone making a little bit of noise now and then.

That's about all i can think of, if the weather is good tomorrow i'll give it a wash, take some pics and put up an ad in garage sales.

I'm asking for 2.5k negotiable, best offer gets the bike. Full cash please.

The steering cone will probably have to be replaced sometime in the future, but for now it's not giving problems, haven't checked the cost of a new one.

New clutch plates cost just under $200, am i right guys?

The deep scratch just needs paint to cover up, can see the previous coats of paint, no damage to the tank itself. (bike is listed as white in the logcard, then resprayed to red, and now it's black/yellow) The scratch is deep enough to see some white and red.

Can't remember how much it would cost to get a 34/36mm carb, i think $200++? Does anyone know?

As for top end i've only managed 170 on the meter before backing off for traffic, but it could probably still go a little more. A smaller rider than me would have probably managed more in the same situation. The bike was nice and stable though.

Oh yeah i just remembered, the tacho is a little erratic in the mid-range like the needle is sticky, but in the higher end it goes back to normal.

As for viewing, sms me at 91255705. I work shift hours so we'll have to arrange a time. I'm staying in woodlands but i'll ride the bike anywhere around the north for you to see it.

Hey Raf the clutch plates do cost just under 200, I got mine for 195. But deal carefully. The first time I asked for the price from auntie at FM, she told me 194. Later on, it was 195. God knows where that $1 came from. It's not much, but I'm just saying that the prices may fluctuate as they please so get a confirmed price if you can and stick to that, unless it gets lower haha.

actually clutch is a problem for every bike... wear and tear...

just depends whether you heng or suay get a bike that needs to replace clutch plates... haha...

then for SP, not only clutch plates, clutch housing also alot of problem... haha...

rectifier not much problem lah... but if spoil then need to replace lor... doesn't spoil that easily lah... usuallt after very very very long then will spoil one...

rectifier doesnt spoil easily.. its the chargin magnet coil n starter motor..

hey guys wat the major differences with a mito and an SP comparing these two together ? .. aside from parts and origin and all wat other significant differences are there ? .. which is better in wat and why..

and where to find first hand cagiva and for a rough estimate off ? .

Hi Mannu, as for the major differences, there really are too many to list just like that. Both bikes are engineered very differently. For a start, Mitos are well known for their handling, tested and proven, whereas the sp isn't. I've experienced my fair share of crosswinds while going at highway speeds and seeing sp's and krr's getting blown across lanes like butterflies =D. Riding position is also very different from them even compared to an RS. It's very sporty and you're leaning forward, not quite upright. Speed is good too =) Best to try these two bikes out yourself and decide which suits best whatever you're looking for in a bike.

Cheers

Desmo: I really have the feeling I got chopped again. Mine were original set. Don't know how they calculate but that was the price I got. If you got it any cheaper from them as well please let me know.
