Never do that.

If your friend's company is a private limited, the van registered under the company will become part of it's assets. In the event of insolvency, the creditors will have the first rights to the company's assets, and there is nothing you can do about it.

tot register of company only cost $1? then can buy van le ah..

A Goods Vehicle must be registered under a Business, and a Company is one of the many form of business.

A business can also be sole-proprietorship which is the easiest and cheapest to register under ACRAS

I am looking at several makes of vans and is hoping that someone here has the ownership experience to share some information.

With regards to durability, spare parts pricing and availability which one is the more economical model to buy? Or is there any other model i should consider as well?

1. Kangoo 1.5M

2. Kangoo 1.4A

2. Citroen Berlingo 1.6 HDI

3. Opel Combo 1.3

Thanks!

why dont you just buy a car? I guess at the end of the day, a commercial vehicle is a commercial vehicle and cannot replace a passenger car (vice versa). There are many many restrictions. Now you may think its ok, you can live with it just to save that few k..who knows next time you may regret and you are going to be stuck with it for a long long time.

suddenly realized..TS did not even reply to any post in the thread he started.

Waste time.

But its a interesting topic, i drove a kangoo, pros and cons

Owning a vehicle depends on your lifestyle, for me i choose this becos

Pros:

anybody can register a sole-proprietor online;

no need office, just apply HDB for SOHO;

cheaper road tax;

cheaper insurance;

no need to go M'sia;

used it to ferry small furniture (single bed, disassembled metal bunk bed, top load washing machine, small sofa, dining table and chairs, single mattress throughout its life cycle, its a mini mpv, no pte car gives u that bang for your bucks!);

frontseat can strap on child seat,

speed limit 70kph is ok in Sg, given its small engine;

I buy it with knowledge this is what i am using it for, nothing more.

Cons:

troublesome to go M'sia, anyway its configuration not suited for long-distance;

some old carparks with height limit 1.8m below cannot go in;

some places without carparks, you can go cargo bay and park;

parts more expensive, but if well taken care of, is as good as japanese car;

managed to find a reliable mechanic in Bt Merah who knows Renaults and has CLIPS diagnostic kit;

source my parts from stockist.

Thank you for sharing!

Mind sharing the cost break down for your Kangoo? (Road tax, insurance, spare parts prices)

I am looking to own a 4 wheeler as i have to move around alot during weekends due to work requirements.

Quite a number of forumers have expressed concerns over the price of parts and servicing of eurovans.

I noticed that Suzuki has a small van 'Every' any reviews on it?

I have looked at rental and car sharing option and the cost of rental for both sat and sun for the entire is not feasible.

end of day if can afford , go for a toyota vios or honda fit. not very powerful but both are main stream streeet car ... parts and service very damm easy to find. i wan to recommend old lancer also cos very easy to mod, malaysia lot of parts but eat higher fuel.

Road tax 320 yearly, insurance 680 yearly, spares are generally 20% more expensive then Japanese cars. For the low price i pay for the van, the difference in spares still can cover.

aiya, dig out this thread again, been using my van for 6yrs now, left 2 yrs to scrap. Want to change to pte plate car now, cos end of the day, van still cant go m'sia, every year missed my kaki's m'sia retreat becos of this. Anyone want my van, sell cheap cheap near COE plus scrap value price. Else i gona scrap it liao. PM me if you want a petrol auto-trans Kangoo for biz or pte use in Sg.

I even have the Renault Clio Haynes manual for troubleshooting, becos i cant find Kangoo's under Haynes, but its the same engine E7J model. Plus the contact of ex-Renault Agent mechanic, Ismail at Bt Merah who has Renault Clips kit for engine management diagnostics.
