Koh Samui cum 3NCR 08 : 19 to 25 Oct 08

Just went to koh Samui last week on my scooter, while you guys goes for your durian's trip.

 

Cost of ferry to island has increased since 1st July, passenger 150bahts while bike with rider are 230bahts.

 

Laundry 30 bahts/kg

 

Petrol now is higher at 39bahts/l for gasohol 95

41bahts/l for 91

44bahts/l for 95

Mainland petrol is cheaper than on the island by about 2 to 3 bahts/l so pump up before going onto ferry. There is at least one petrol station that is less than 3 km from transea ferry terminal.

 

Ferry goes each hour on the hour during peak time, maybe 2 hours interval during off peak.

 

Beer tiger about 40bahts at bar, add 5bahts more for heniken. Best get from 7-11 stores about 30+/bottle.

 

Massage is around 200-250bahts for thai style/hr. Special dont know never ask.

 

Waterfall visits is free but parking for bikes is 10bahts/entry

 

Tiger and aquarium visit will cost around 450bahts, showtime around 11am if I remember correctly. Visit butterflies garden will be 170bahts, if you pay for tiger and aquarium show the butterflies garden fee will only be 30bahts.

 

Road at Koh Samui is cement surface and many pot holes, expect sandy pathes at corners. Ride will not be smooth compare to tarred road.

 

Basically Koh Samui is a cheaper place to visit compare to Phuket. Phuket is more happening place especially for the younger riders. Just as a comparsion Phuket laundry service is 50bahts while Samui is only 30bahts.

There is a need to book early for the coming ride and I would appreciate it if more can confirm so that next month i.e. national day when i ride to Koh sa Mui, I can reserve some rooms to ensure no difficulty in getting rooms.

 

It has been a while since some of you have submitted your leave (i am correct?) and I am sure approval won't take that long to approve.:bow:

 

Please note time passes by quickly and July is coming to an end. The closing date for registration for the 3 ncr is 15 September 08. So please expedite ur confirmation. Thanks.:bow:

As i communicate with my boss rgding leave,green signal was given,therefore

i'm waiting for official comfirmation thru ELAS.(Electronic leave application system)most probably another wk,will keep update.

I went to Hatyai >>> Koh Samui >>> Koh Phuket >>> Hatyai >>> Singapore.

 

Total mileage is 3489km, of which 1700km is travelling in Malaysia. 1789km travelling in Thailand. My scooter consumption is 25km/l. Thus 1700/25xrm2.7=Rm183.6 for travelling in Malaysia.

 

For Thailand, some petrol stations do not has super 95 only 91 so i pumped gasohol. Taking a average price of around 42Bahts/l. Consumption will be 1789/25x42Bahts=3005Bahts

 

Hotels rate, I used budget type, Samui 700Bahts/room(3days), Phuket 500Bahts/room(3days), Hatyai 700Bahts/room(2days). Total costs 2100+1500+1400=5000Bahts

 

Food take as 200Bahts/meal, that is 3meals/day 600Bahts/day. Total 8days meals will be 4800bahts. 200Bahts/meal is already very good budget, infact it is cheaper.

 

That is the basic costs, entertainment you determine yourself, as there are massage, shows, entrance fees. This you can control,

 

All in all I spend less than $800 for the 8 days tour.
