Help!! Givi top box cannot open

hi guys, dunno if any of you encountered this problem before.

 

problem: i cannot open my givi E450 top box bought from LAB abt 2 mths ago. reason is my key insert liao cannot turn. i spray WD40, put singa oil liao still cannot. however, i just opened it and lock it less than 1 min ago before it cannot open. i take out helmet, then my gf say wanna put things in again. then cannot open liao.

 

help/advice is needed. pls. thanks.

can you turn the key? if cannot, dun insert all the way give a slight twist

u happen to be the guy riding S4 at ah boy workshop juz now?

cause i thot i saw a rider whom i tink faced some problems with opening his rear box.

perhaps u can try w/ the other spare key?

if worse come to worse, get a lock replacement. costs smth like $20.

i can't turn the key...maybe just up to 10 degrees angle only.

i change before cos key break inside

cost around 10 plus, comes with 2 new keys

then duno how to dispose box so just keep in the store...

thanks rayhunter. i actually understand what you are saying but i also need to know where i can buy a new lock or where can i replace one. it's very highly likely tat i will totally spoil my lock as i have to pry out the ledge first to get to the pins.

lock replacement at either LAB or the sticker/accessories shop next to LAB.

price wise is around $15 - 20.

 

they will pry out the old lock and replace w/ new one.

i went to 219 to get the lock fixed.

 

charges for fixing lock is $25

 

if the whole locking machanism needs to be changed, the damage will be at $65.

 

service is prompt and good. i would say i prefer 219 than to LAB workshop where you have to wait pretty long for your turn.

 

i think it is slightly more ex to buy at 219 but boy, i would pay extra for the prompt and good service, with a place to sit and look at more bike accessories.

can go to 219 to change it. the process of breaking open and fixing the lock takes abt 45 mins.

wth.. after reading this thread yest, i cant open my box this morning! aarrgghhh... got so suey meh.. it has been a few days since i had trouble opening it.. had to dig up old dirty helmet coz my helmet inside..

as in i guess the duplicate key made a problem.. put in the original key can open.. felt relieve den close and want to try again but cant .. put wd40 all still cant.. the stupid thing is i 4get to take out my helmet!!
