normally how many KM u all change engine oil or how long u all need to service ur S4???

Er... motortiam says that it is every 5000km... but the manual says every 12000km...

As for servicing, I think there is no fixed date... It's just a matter of which parts of your bike needs replacement. That's all...

Biking is something that everyone can learn and enjoy! :goodluck:

When I ride hard and behave like Valentino Rossi..I change every about 3k.

When I right to Poly like a well behave day to day commuter on the road, I change about every 8k.

When I once awhile use it as a second bike doing short distance errnad..I changed about every 15k.

Just remember that thinner "Ws" does better for newer bike...older bike uses higher "Ws" number. Each has its advantage and depend on how you ride. If you think that 50W is good for a new bike as it did for you..wait till you ride at hi rpm..you do find that your engine has a stalling effect due to oil pressure building up..that's when the 5/30w or 10/40w works so much better for new bikes.

sumhow true... used a 50grade oil n it totally sux at high rpm...

but how do we consider 'old' & 'new' bike eh..?

Not "somehow true"...its TRUE.

New bike has has 'gaps' due to hardly and wear and tear and thick vicosity oil is harder to passed thru between the components and at jhi-rpm...its increases the rate of flow which makes it more difficult. Older bikes has more wear and tear components like the space between your piston rings and cyclinder walls and so are the transmission assembly..this is where thick oil function best in 'noise reduction'.

There is no definition as to what's really old or new to me (IMHO). A two years old bike is considered new to most but if you ride long distance and gard and clock double the mileage than that of a daily commuter to work and home..that two years can be a four years old bike. But generally...more than 5 years is considered "getting old" taking the used of the bike for occassional touring and daily uses.

What makes you think yours is out with reference from his..he's may be screwed. :giddy:

The rotational gears for the readings are fixed and nothing you can do..but you can always take out the dial scale markers plate and do a scan and vectorised it and change the number values (speed reading numbers) to your need..can even change to mph if you want  ..than print in photographic paper using archival ink and laminated it with "Oracal" (brand) protection film.

Other option is to get a seperate speedo system unit..check with I_Ride_A_Bike..he's selling off his bike and he as a digital speedo 3rd party unit that's using optical rotational reading..he may want to dekit and sell it seperately.

any1 know is there anyway i can fix this by my own or must go bikeshop?

my side stand is down but can still engage 1st gear and move off.

thanks

As lomg as the following is the same:

* 12vdc

* Charging rate 8 or 9/AH

* size to fit into battery compartment

..if bigger (do away the battery compartment cover) and of higher current rating..voltage same..can use a "power charger" to help condition the aletrnator charging.

Just what I know and am using.

What is an power charger? Btw mine was a yausa YTX7A-BS then just change to a yausa YTX9A-BS. Riding vtec 1. Suddenly went dead when was waiting for the traffic light. -.- Last change was on last christmas eve.

went to bikeshop only got this model (YTX7A-BS) I think there is also a honda logo and made in japan and the size is just right as the original battery and am able to sit in the compartment..so no choice have to get this..but was charge $98 for it. :faint:

Was is a yausa or what? Original not yuasa right?

Power Charger?..below is a snipped from their write up...

Why do we need EPS Power Charger in our motorcycles?

The function of Alternator in the motorcycle is to produce Electrical Power to run the engine and other Electrical Equipment and at the same time, charge the Battery in the motorcycle. The voltage range produce by an Alternator is 12.5V to 13.5V.

If you take a closer look at our motorcycle’s Alternator with a digital meter or a voltage meter, the reading does not show any fixed Voltage. This fluctuation of voltage from the Alternator is called ripper. This ripper will cause the voltage signal of the sensors and actuators to fluctuate as

well, causing the sensors and actuators to receive irregular signals. Thus producing inaccurate signals to motorcycle’s ECU and other electrical circuits and causes the performance of the motorcycle to be less than satisfactory.

The function of EPS Power Charger is to minimize this fluctuation of voltage.

The effect of this will be crisper signal to and from sensors and actuators. This will allow the ECU to more accurate with precision with little tolerance. Therefore, accurate signal will produce more efficient engine output.

EPS Power Charger is more than any simple and basic products in the market. EPS Power Charger outperforms any gadgets and other plug & play products in the market to improve responsiveness, power and performance not just on the motorcycle but also on the battery performance (Cold Cranking Ampere – CCA) instantly.

The following are some of the improvement you will see after using EPS Power Charger:

1 - Stabilizes the power system, and excels the electrical discharge

efficiency.

2 - Improve acceleration and responsiveness.

3 - Improves motorcycle ignition, and saves the fuel.

4 - Reduces engine trembling, and enhances engine response.

5 - Improves startup torque, and improves the stability at idle speed.

6 - Eliminates noise from the alternator, and resolve the motorcycle's internal

electrical system's impedance resistance problems.

7 - Increase battery Cold Cranking Ampere (CCA) performance instantly with

lower resistance in battery.

Benefits & Features of UTR Power Charger in my motorcycle:

1 - Proven horsepower and torque enhancement.

2 - Fuel saving up to 20%

3 - Prolong battery lifespan with increase CCA. Reduction of 62.32%

Resistance (m) in Battery

4 - EPS Power Charger are resistant to high temperature, and waterproof.

5 - Reduce emission with better combustion in engine.

Hi S4 riders.. May i ask how far can a full petrol tank on spec 3 lasts?

Thx in advance. On behalf of a S4 rider who does not patronise here.

depending on riding style and tuning, an average would be abt 310km / full tank before reserve..

One of its feature..but much stronger especially CCA load. Was initially tested on HD bikes for extreme electrical load..handle up to 1.6K cc.

ahpek,

the EPS charger is the one u show me the other day is it? the light blue in color thing.

my bike got power abuser hooked to the batt can still use the EPS charger or need to take out?

also ahpek,

is using aftermarket coolant hoses (the silicone ones) recommended? do u know if we can buy the hoses from anywhere cheap2 and install ourselves since i look at the hoses and it seems quite universal, only need to cut to adjust the lengths to fit. any advise for me?

question nt only to ahpek but anyone got valuable input can also pitch in ok.? :)

many thanks

Yah..that's the one and yes you either replace it or be happy with what you got. The big difference is the proven circuirty use in cars and use of high value capacitor makes the product a better one. It be good better if you already have groundings done already.

>>aftermarket coolant hoses (the silicone ones) recommended?

If you do find one and DIY..just be sure don't overtighten the circlip but tight enogh for pressure not to ooze the coolant out.
