You need to hire a local guide / escort to travel overland through Myanmar. And it doesn't come cheap. Try contacting Burma Senses - Google them up.

Thanks a lot for your writeup. I kept a copy and used the info on my trip up to Thailand last month.

 

Note that TM4 form is no longer needed, and indeed is no longer available at the Thai Immigration website. I only needed TM2 (no pillon).
