bike towed to a locally-renowned honda mech; and he gave me baaaaaad news! his impression, after years of experience, is a SCREWED CRANK!!!! wonder how that cam about). as engine is out, i might as well replace the timing chain.

Any ideas where to start the search for parts? maybe a link to a thread in here? thanks

brand new original parts can get from FJT, Everfit or Eversuccess. if u want 2nd hand, nt too sure. maybe bike shops or scrapyard. impression? u mean he guess w/o opening or have u seen the actual crank he removed from the engine? renowned is one thing. honesty is another. i suggest u see for urself wats the problem n let the mechanic explain exactly wat happened. ur crankshaft shouldn't be damaged so easily. at most, the bearings can get worn out. the crankshaft is one big piece of metal. it takes alot to damage it, so i wonder wat kind of SCREWED does he mean. unless previous assembly wasn't done properly lar. jux my opinion. :)

what could be the possible causes of flat battery?battery was changed for a few days and it becomes flat..

your charging system not working. suggest go back bikeshop, n ask them to test with voltmeter (or do it urself if u have one). shud be charging at least 13.5V. if 12V

shud be a chain tensioner problem. not so expensive. should be $60 at Planet.

yah... u were right... $65... solved the problem... the engine feels different leh... any idea why? softer and smoother now...

@ming76; 99.9% rectifier, its behind the rhs chromed cover.

Either you got an electric leak, or the rectifier/alternator not working.

now ur timing chain is tensioned properly all the time. previously got slack so it slaps around in ur engine causing vibration n noise.

faced a problem last nyt. bike kept dying and didnt want to idle. had to keep on throttling when i stop to keep the engine running. inspected my bike and realised that my carburetor rubber boot (connecting carb to engine) had torn, causing vacuum leak. cost me $30 to buy and DIY. jux a heads up in case anybody else facing this problem/faces this in the future. :)

I noticed there is oily substances at the front left fork, is this normal? Is the fork faulty?

probably ur seal leaking already. go and change before more oil leaks out n potentially damage ur fork internals. make sure u do both at the same time.

@naim why need to change both together? I changed one side, cost me $35 at Southern motors

Yeah, cherryE10. You are spot on. It was the spark plug. Had the air filter replaced as well. But the funny thing is, I've been using the previous spark plug for around 2-3 months. Is it normal to be changing it that regularly?

No way. I have been using the same spark plug for the last 2 years.

Don't know, maybe just that particular spark plug? Or spark plug combined with the old filter.

@Silent Hunter, where do you normally change your spark plug?

This is abnormal. Your fork seal has worn out and needs to be replaced. The fork itself

might not be faulty.

is it normal for the engine to be oily? There seems to be oil on the surface at the fins and surrounding areas near the engine

nt normal. possible that ur head gasket leaking. i suggest u wash ur engine area to get ride of any grease then monitor for another few days. if it comes back, possibly a leak.

yeah the head gasket gets hardened over time and leak occurs. if you don't change, the leak intensifies and it gets flung all over your legs and pants while u ride and thats hot oil :cheeky:
