Loose battery terminal connections or badly oxidised terminals.

Pour Coke or other gassy soda drinks on the terminals to remove the oxidation and then check for tightness of fitment.

NO... I am not joking when I say pour Coke on the oxidised parts. It will become like new again.

Contact cleaner and a pen-knife would do better haha ...

Imagine if someone pours Coke, Pepsi or 7-Up ... Then have ants up his/her pants when riding ... :dozed:

Hmmmmmmmmm but sure looks like your bike starter ( soleniod switch ) may need to be serviced. Btw how old is your bike ? Try the old trick of giving your bike starter motor a firm knock knock with a piece of wood...... then maybe u can start her up to ride her to the LBS to have her serviced.

An update to my situation:

Yesterday i sent my bike to another shop at dunlop street...

basically, the guy also went through the standard routine of checking every points to see if there is any abnormal open contact or is there any shorted circuit yada yada yada at the wire cables around the rectifier & battery area.

then he used another battery with jumper cables to boost start my bike... the bike did manage to start up. so he concluded that my battery is faulty.... which i must admit i'm not totally convinced cuz it's a yuasa battery we're talking about. but nonetheless, i went ahead to replace the battery with another yuasa battery at SGD$40.00 (that's really cheap! i bought the previous battery at SGD$58.00!!).

and now, here's the part:

- the new yuasa battery that i'd bought yesterday has the Honda wing logo printed on it. it also got the "Made in Japan" word printed on it too. All the word prints are in blue.

- the previous yuasa battery has none of the Honda wing logo, nor the origin country of manufacture printed on it. The wordings are in white. But at the back of the battery there's a label mentioning the word "Reading". As such i assume that this battery could be made in UK.

now, i'm wondering: what are the chances of fake Yuasa batteries that are available in the market? And if so, is my new one a real or fake?

hi guys... the electricity of my yamaha X1-R (w/o electric starter) till yesterday was ok.

just this morning when i "ON" the ignition key, there is no light at speedometer.

but once i start the engine w/ kick starter, the all the lights comes up.

the funny things is that the speedometer light is not bright but the headlight brightness was ok.

I notice when i rev the engine by opening the throttle, the lights bcome bright.

but again when i turn the signal light, it blinks very fast (about 3x per second)

can you guys tell me what happen with my bike?

should i change with new battery?

or any possibility the wiring loose?

thanks ar...

That cheap..Is it those shop in the back lane one?

Heard that those batt with wording (Made in Japan) are the OEM type from japan.

Those without should be either made in thailand or any 3rd country..

Quality wise of cos MADE IN JAPAN is the best lo :cheeky:

hi guys,

i'm riding a v-strom 650. lately i realised that whenever i turn the bike ignition key to ON, the digital voltmeter is reading 11.8v and sometimes 11.7v, depending on the number of days i did not start the bike. i tried to start it every 2 days. I am taking the company transport since it's always raining cats and dogs.

My bike's headlight is always turned on even when the engine is not running. I did try Looi's motor mechanic to charge my battery b4 the collection day. They did and the voltage that I got on that day was ard 12V or so.

Is my bike battery normal? Need to charge?

I always have about 11.8v on my voltmeter before I crank on my 10yrs old S4. I ride my bike everyday, and I have installed a switch to turn off my headlight in the daytime.

I guess it is due the the condition of the wire harness, since my charging circuit seems fine. For your case, you can charge your battery by getting a charger or go out for a long ride to top up your battery.

You might also want to rewire your ERP unit to turn on only when you turn your ignition to "ON", and add a switch to your headlight so that you can turn off your headlight and start your engine to charge your battery without riding out.

letting your battery drain too much too often will kill your battery in a very short time, try to prevent that.

Yes, mate all automotive class batteries must be charged, either on vehicle or thru a battery charger. Laying up a automotive battery for long period will damage the battery thus shorten it life-span.

Our electronic Easy Charger Esi 12000 weight only 365 grams rate 1.2amp. A newer version will be ready by the end of the year - rated 2.3amp.
