Esteemed Bikers,

I'm new to the riding scene in Singapore and hope to start riding on a dirt bike. Riding for me is purely recreational. Are there dirt tracks in Singapore and nearby in Johor? How much are they?

What do y'all recommend for a new to dirt rider? I have a Class 2 endorsement on my license and a few years of experience riding but only ridden dirt once. I have in mind a 200 - 300cc 4 stroke bike but will like to hear what more experienced riders have to say first.

Thank you.

welcome to singapore. :D

Always ride safely and defensively.

Repair bike cheap and fast,

Repair body expensive and slow.

hi actionong,

welcome here! i presume dat u r from m'sia? 2 answer the question abt the bike. if u don depend upon it 4 transport,i would say a ktm 200 would be the best bike 4 u 2 get. but if u wanna use it 4 transport 2,consider a 4 stroke bike.

riding areas - there r some 'unofficial' riding areas here and a supercross track in tuas(near 2 the tuas chk pt).

Mssc has a mx track,enduro/x country n a motard riding area at nusajaya. its 10 mins from the tuas chk pt.

foe more info on the club actitvities u can log on 2 http://www.mssc.org.sg

Hey airtime.. you recommended KTM2 for a good trail bike. Heard it's the most powerful 2b scram. But the price put me off. How about a WR2? Tink I wanna get a "playbike" so that my transport arrangements won't be affected if something should happen to my DP bike during trails. But a bit put off to get 2 bikes.. must pay road tax, COE, Insurance, season parkin X2. Is there a way to keep a playbike safely without all these hassle?

i assume you will only use your "playbike" during the weekend?

if that's the case, get a off-road machine, either a MX bike or pure enduro machine (like the new Yamaha WR-250F/450F.. they are not road legal anyway)

as long as you have 1) transport to take the bike to the place you wanna play and 2) a safe place to store your bike... you are good to go :)

actionong... if you want road-legal bikes you have quite a lot to choose from... KTM2/KTM250/Yamaha WR250R/Husky 250 or the coming Husky 300... of coz the price range varies a lot :D

hi sops,

ya i noe wat u mean abt paying double......:weep: ok 2 be frank and honest, sop cos of yr size and weight. the ktm 200 would be the best 4 u! 4 dis very important reason-- u can change the front n rear springs 2 suit yr weight. which in turn will give u better suspension action n let u focus on riding the bike. yes,the bike do cost more. nothing can be done abt dat but wat u pay is wat u get.

as 4 the wr 200,suspension upgrades r nearly impossible 2 come by in japan now.(so don even think abt it in sg) u can ride the bike still but it will sink down alot. n u will end fighting with the bike nearly every where cos its 2 soft 4 yr weight.

the dr will serve u well as a transport bike, sops! u won regret it at all. but as u get better in yr riding, its the ktm dat u will look 4 on the weekends. :D

Thnks for the advice airtime.. tink I clock more experience on the road and off before I decide. The way you said it, maybe a bigger thumper would suit me better as I'm still very green on riding (fresh p-plater). To add on to actionong's query, maybe can recommend a good bigger cc bike? More on enduro types than MX. My fren mentioned about getting a kawa KLX..never seen one before tho.

hi sops!

yes,i did think of a thumper but they are all in the 250cc class n not 4 the 2b class. there is a ktm 200 4 sale on the forum. maybe u can check it out with the seller. as 4 the kawa klx its a 250 thumper. also its quite outdated by now, tink there are only a couple of units left still running ard in sg.
