i will go for Rex or Evo, Maybe mainly due to my age.

BMW hopefully got chance to drive in future =x

Nice onces. The WRX STI and the EVO are good cars of a different breed against the standard WRX.

Hi, may I know which vehicle in the mid range segment marketed with performance agenda will you most want to avoid buying?

Frankly speaking, BMW is a great make. But the only bad thing about it is the price tag. It is an undisputed worthy make. But only if you have a deeper pocket.

If I have the cash to choose any car in this list, I would choose the one I like the most and not which is the best. BUT since money for me is an option, I'd go for any Japanese on your list. If money is not an option, then maybe the Golf GTI. I have no idea what the R32 is anyway.. if it looks nicer then ya, I choose the R32!

R32 http://www.vwasia.com/publish/vwasia/singapore/en/models/golfs/golf_r32.html is the fastest Golf ever built by VW. They have another R36 http://www.vwasia.com/publish/vwasia/singapore/en/models/passats/passat_r36.html which is the fastest Passat. There's another R50 under the Tuoareg segment wihch is totally out of this segment which I am not tasked to target.

I prefer German cars. VW is the mother of most German cars; VW owns Audi, Lamborghini, Bugatti, Bentley, Skoda, Seat. Therefore they position themselves in the market with superior strategy. They sell their cars with technology on the top of their list with a very affordable price with an impressive technology to price ratio Audi may make great cars and increasingly getting more popular. But it is still an overpriced VW in an Audi shell. Of course... unless you are talking about the R8 and TT, the coupe and superauto which VW does not sell. But VW is slowly coming into the coupe segment with their returning Scirocco http://www.volkswagen.com/vwcms_publish/vwcms/master_public/virtualmaster/en2/models/scirocco.html?action=no

Used to drive a Peugeot. But their product range was very disappointing and the only well priced car is the 107 & 207 series including the 207GTI. Their 308 especially the turbo is an absolute turn off for people who buy cars based on specs. The 308T has to downtune the 1.6 turbo engine from a potentially high 210bhp to 140bhp all in order to suit the AL4 gearbox whose torque converter can only take on 210Nm at most. :slapforehead: I have only heard things work the other way round. Peugeot France built excellent quality cars but sadly the local agents are only capable of bringing in the inferior ones. That's why I knew that it will no longer be promising for me to own anymore Peugeots at the moment and so I defected to the fatherland; Deutschland, home to the company I work for.

well i'm not a fan of mini, renault, peugeot and citroen, so i will say No to these models.

A big YES to : STi, Evo, Type R, Golf GTi with the budget of 200k otr.

Big power = not much comfort

Want a balance of power and comfort under 200k = fairlady

Ahh I heard of the R50 before.. And I think the R32 looks damn nice. Anyway, how abt the Toureg Sport 1.4? abt $90+k So should be around the same price range of your cars. It is also a 7 seater...

It's your damn bike, wash it yourself! You rinse your own mouth after you eat, don't you?

erm... I don't think 7 seaters should be anywhere ner performance series. Performance agenda car sales are targeted at people who are willing to trade comfort and some practicability for performance. But nonetheless The Tuoran Sport yeah is good. It is the truely fast family car. Honda stream and toyota wish are not.

I'm putting my car changing exercise off for now becos of the following reasons:-

1. Bonus for the year not looking good so no mood

2. Market paper losses enough to buy a few VRODs so no mood

3. Over spending for my house renovation

I think I better hoard as much cash as I can, maybe buy another house next year since my 5er is doing its job well.

fingers crossed. good luck fellas

Hi,

Was looking around for my next car purchase and came out with a few choices of my own... Either I got for the Fiat Bravo T-Jet 1.4Turbo (M) and spruce it up to Veloce 185bhp with 272Nm torque or the VW Golf GT or Honda Civic Type R... Peugeot 308T has been cancelled out from my list due to poor reviews....

Could say that the Fiat Bravo is on my top listing with it's potential to go 185bhp with the ECU remapped but wondering whether it's a reliable and easier to maintain as compared to other conti cars.... With the current 150bhp for the stock ones, will more wear and tear happens when 35bhp is added to it... but reviews has been quite good for the Bravo...

Hope to clear my doubt on this... else I go for Civic Type R, fastest NA car and track ready too....

Thanks much much... :)

Mind over matter, if it doesn\'t mind, it doesn\'t matter...... :)

One more thing, how does the Mitsubishi Colt Turbo fair??? Value for money? Reliability?

:)

Decent ride with its spec, but if going for aftermarket mods will have some problem due to only certain brands and products can fit in.

Reliability depends how hard u lump your snail, can't prevent wear and tear stuff on turbo cars. Of coz not forgetting to mention higher MAINTENANCE cost

reflash map by freelancer or Fiat itself? having 35 bhp is only they max out your injectors and fuel pump, air intake then of coz it will wear out faster. applies to all vehicle. proclaim 185bhp is not really zhun one, must see whp and torque then know the power.

If this is your budget and preference, go for the Peugeot 207GTI. A raw car with excellent power. The 5 speed manual may be dated but still punches.

Remapped by Fiat itself... top up $2k.... for the added price, you get a tuning job worth many rounds of applause, (ed. no pun intended) original Fiat side skirts, rear spoiler and big, attractive rims. 185bhp at 6000rpm and 272Nm at just 3300rpm....

My friend collecting his Fiat Bravo this coming weekend... heard he paid $80-$81k for it, minus out the upgrade package to retune the ECU.... Will check out more.... must test drive first to see it's potential...

Mind over matter, if it doesn\'t mind, it doesn\'t matter...... :)

Never occur in my mind to get the 207 GTI, but after ur post, it seems like a contender for my first choice, the Fiat Bravo... but might give this a miss... don't really fancy 3dr cars... higher insurance premium i presume...

Maybe will test drive both next week and see which suits me better... both seems to have it's good side.... and the downside too...

Thanks for the advise guys... appreciate it...

The Volkswager GTi series would be my choice among the list.

DSG gearbox looks good. Plus free $10k worth of freebies now that they are promoting. Good looking car with that youngster appeal. Leans more to the slightly sophiscated ah beng pattern.

But once remapped by Fiat, the warranty is still covered by them.... seems good to me... plus get original facelift stuff from them, spoiler, side skirts, bigger rims...

Usually, if anything done outside, warranty would be void...

Will be taking my time with my decision on my next ride... no hurry... dekitting for my current ride seems to take ages... :?

Actually Fiat make excellent vehicles if you do not mind the modest heritage. However, modest it may be, yet this Italian automotive giant is the owner of several prestigeous Italian automobile builders. They are Ferrari, Maserati and Alfa Romeo.

Because not all people think like you or some of the hidden gurus.

Do you know I have met people who insist the difference between your STI and the standard WRX is minimal? Anyway they don't pay me so I don't bother explaining to them and risk being outcasted.

The knowledge of a lot of locals on automotives are questionable. Some wrote a lot of bull sh-it in the net on engine operation, suspensions geometry... When I brought those articles out during training or my trainer, they just shrug it off. Such problems exist even in Germany. Not all Germans are born engineer.

Fiat is a relatively unknown brand in Singapore and many do not even know Fiat owns Ferrari. You try explaining the BOSCH developed ASR which is incorporated in many of Fiat's products to them they will think you are trying to show off. They try explaining twisted engine operating principles that do not make sense to you and you try to rebut, you are stubborn in their eyes. Well take it easy.

Anyway Sinus, the re-mapping by Fiat is an excellent idea. Keep your warranty, get your Veloce abarth power

Anybody knows if my friend wants to take over my current ride and carry on with the instalments, is there a way to do this??? Meaning handover of ownership... Me trying to figure out
