Hi,

Been trying to find out if possible to add electric start to x1 with clutch/kick-start.

Asked my mechanic and he said cannot, if wan electric start can only change to clutchless/e-start. Hmm, i find it very hard to kick-start my bike when i on the bike itself, actually not very hard, almost impossible for me leh, must always put on main-stand then can kick.

Did a search and read that spark 135 clutch/kick-start can add electric start.

Does anyone know if it is do-able on x1 also and where, how much can i get it done?

i oso have the same problem... can't kick start while sitting on the seat... muz go down to the right side & kick... me no need put main stand cos i don't have one...

 

if you know where can electric starter on x1, let me know ya?

i cant go to e right & kick start. feel the bike will fall. maybe i kick start too hard le.

wah dionna you can kick-start with it on side stand, i can't even do that, same prob as eeleenz, like the bike going to beng like that.

but yesterday at one of the bike shops i tried the spark 135 kick-start, major difference, the kick-start very very easy, almost no resistance, just soft kick needed, no prob sitting on seat and kick-starting. sigh, think if can't add e-start to my x1, i will have to change bike to spark 135. very lazy to put on main stand all the time and if suay suay engine die at traffic light very chiam.

actually kick start from side stand got tactic de... though it says "kick" start, u dun really have to kick de... try to step on it till u feel the "hard" point, then u step harder down can le... remember not to use kickin... might even give u injuries ar...

i wanna add kickstart cos the wavers very bad... go outings always OTR off my engine then i have to go down kickstart at traffic lights...

this is wat i discover from last time when riding 2b bike la...

yamaha kick starter motion is design more to the front while honda is straight down

thus mayb u can try when kick start end the motion to the front, hope it helps...

 

anyway i heard malaysia can install electric start on sparks and X1 but i oso duno where... im asking my friend's shop in malaysia to find out more for me once they confirm liao i will let u know cos i oso lazy to kick...

the kick-start is always trouble-some..esp at the start of the day...when the engine and bike isnt warmed up yet...hard to start man...gotta kick kick kick 4-5 times then hopefully it starts up...

 

if not rest 1st...then kick again..lame shty rite? ...

when just got the bike, really dun know how to kick it, in morning when engine cold, kick til my leg cramp man hahaha. then go bike shop complain like mad and uncles all say "no, your sae is wrong". but very pek-chek coz i ride wave and honda dream before, the clutchless kick-starts very easy leh, can sit on bike and kick wan.

 

dionna you not so bad liao, me this week dun know why my bike engine die on me several times at traffic lights when i stop and try to move off when light change to green, especially when i first start riding bike or the 1st traffic light when i been travelling for some time on expressway. and always happen at peak hour somemore, and with all the cars and bikes zooming past around me and i can't move till the light turns to red again to push to side to kick-start, buay tahan pathetic leh haha. going to send bike in to check liao, but really would love having e-start in case same situation come up again.

i think u can do all this in malaysia but i think that is a side effect

easy lah...

press ur clutch,then the kickstart become soft,move it down till center,release clutch then kick...

very easy to start wan...

try it guys/gals...

can press clutch & start mehz?

 

cos i know that our x1 babies can only start on neutral gear, can't start on eg. 1st gear even if we press the clutch.

 

hmmm... press clutch on neutral & start engine... i later go try after work...

actually i did managed to kickstart my manual clutch x1 on gear 1 before when it was still on its main stand

 

anyway i think its impossible to kickstart when clutch is fully depressed

guess what sg^biker said wasn't detailed or complete enough bah..

muz be somewhere need to release back the clutch

but i thought spark have no problem kickstarting... unless my wave which is very2 hard to kickstart...mmmm

ok wad x-1 kick start...prefer tat to a ktm kick start...x-1 kick start is abt the momentum of kickstartin...dun need to kick hard but jus follow the momentum of the kickstart and when its facin down den use more force and push it forward...

hey guys/gals seen this topic and find it interesting.

correct me if im wrong.. there's a technique to kick starting and firstly if ya a newbie to it wear shoes, it helps! wearing slippers / sandals will increase your chance of cutting yourself unless ya a season kick starter.

 

Actually tried the kick starters on Wave, X1, Sparks.. they are all pretty good. maybe you need to get the point where the compression is the highest and then step hard down all in one stroke to start your bike. if your bike has pretty high compression, do not kick it too hard as u might hurt your foot.

 

Previously rode a WR, trust me.. the compression is much higher. a Wave, X1, Sparks is too good to be true. Glad i ride a sparks now..
