Hey guys, im a new student at CDC. I want to ask if what I go through is correct, or I'm being cheated. I've never took any driving licence so not sure about the procedure.

Well, paid $21.40 for Prac 2B Lesson 1. Took orientation beforehand. Then the real practical. End practical at the round/oval turning course. Haven't go through gear shifting yet. And instructor say pay again to continue Practical 1 from where I stop.

Is this correct? If yes, then does it mean I failed Prac 1, or just did not finish Prac 1? And the $21.40 is for Prac 1 or for 100mins? As in if 100 mins I still havent finish prac 1 too bad, must continue next time after pay $21.40 again.

Thanks in advance.

Hi, the $21.40 you pay for is for 100mins worth of lesson time. If you do not meet the requirements to pass that practical, you have to continue booking lessons for that particular practical until you pass.

Hope it's clearer for you now. =)

P.S: And practical 1 rarely got people pass on the first round. Takes abit of time for everyone to get used to the half clutch before they allow you to run up to gear 5. haha!

Hey thanks there! I got abit confused, cuz my friend told me that I was cheated by the instructor. But I thought it wouldn't be that easy for them to cheat me, cuz they wouldn't want to risk their job as an instructor right?

Ouh rarely eh? Did you take your 2B at CDC too? Have msn? Maybe we could use a chat. =]

no.

go the web's booking system and see whether RTT or e-trial is offered, if it's you're lucky.

sadly, the annoying part is to sit thru all 4 lessons, get the chop for all four lessons, then the option of booking your RTT is available.

So... if your lessons 1 & 2 is late may, and waiting time for RTT is 1 mth (on ave.). its gonna be quite a wait my friend. =\ Best of luck, try to camp and see if any lesson 1 or 2 open up earlier.

very sad to say i just failed my prac 6. we were split up into groups of repeat and first-timers .. and all the first-timers failed. instructor who i sahll not name (the one behind) cited broad all encompassing reasons like "all of you fail to check blindspot generally", without going into any specifics. i wonder if by virtue of the fact that it's our first time we were all condemned to fail from the start.

f u cc k. now i have to retake it at my next available timing - next week. bad enough it only takes place at night (i.e. M-F, 2 sessions per day) .. but factor in that i'm working regular hours, and it becomes almost impossible to complete quickly.

that's why it's advisable for you to book 2 sessions of prac 6 just in case you failed the first one coz the slots for prac 6 aint that many.

frankly speaking i was confident that i would pass prac 6 one first attempt coz of prior experience of my class 3 lessons which is still fresh in my mind, but i failed anyway coz i proceed on amber light and fail to stop at stop line. fail to check blindspot generally, need to specify further liao meh? you know the part where you enter the filter lane and then make a left turn? ahh, thats one of the essential part to check your blindspot.

relax lah. only first attempt fail de maa. i know some people take several times still havent pass prac 6 lei ...

Aww i failed my 2nd Prac 1. My left hand keeps holding on to the clutch even though in gear 2. i think its the fear of stalling my bike. and my right foot keeps pressing on the brakes, even if i don't intend to.

instructor asked everyone, around 8, whether they have learnt about gearshifting or not, the rest said yes, but i have not, am i missing something?

so yea i got stuck at shifting part. and i got confused at the downshifting frm gear 5 to gear 3 and then continue, cuz there's this bike infront of me keep stalling. so everytime i slow down i don't know what to do cuz i can't overtake. =[[

Try to count in your head, what gear you're currently at. When you're in gear 1, maintain the half clutch but when you're in gear 2 and above, you can let go of the clutch fully without stalling. You need to calm yourself down cause you're too tensed from the way you explained your situation. In the circuit don't need to to go to such a high gear.

hi ahmad. let me assure u that every practical will be just like ur first one. as far as biking's concerned, it's chaos. eventually, u'll come to the conclusion that it cannot be helped. unlike with driving, it's not 1-on-1. with 1 instructor to 8 people, and who have each progressed differently within the same practical, u'll constantly hear questions directed at others on topics that you've not yet covered. don't worry, u'll get there soon enough.

as much as i would like to help with ur issues regarding technique, i'm in no position to comment. u can read abt my (lack of) aptitude in the pages preceding this post, as well as my incessant whining/complaints stemming from frustration at my lack of ability.

good luck, and all the best! it's easy to get dejected, but all that matters is knowing that you can and will get there. just look at me - i have taken >15 lessons so far, and i'm only at my prac6.

i used to have problems with gear shifting too. when i was at pract 2 i didn't go half clutch from gear 1 - 2 and later the instructors found out, i could not do it when asked.

after several practices i think the steps go like this; "accelerate a little, clutch release slowly till it actually moves faster, then ah-hah! you're at it already.

for gearshifting, it also took me some time too. let's say u gear 5, u wan go down 3, release throttle, handbreak, clutch, kick down twice, release handbreak and then clutch(after u release clutch, you may feel the bike suddenly jerk forward once).

the above are only what worked for me, and if it doesn't help i am sorry.

on a lighter note, i passed my prac 7!

generally i am .. that's how i managed to cover pracs1-5 in the past month. but for this week, schedule completely packed. one of those weeks i guess.:cry::cry:

Ouh now i understand, i don't need to hold on to the clutch from gear 2 onwards. Didn't know that at all before this! argh. should've known. thanks guys! =]

Anyway, why is the lesson slot all 0? Do i have to wait till some time until new schedule come out and until someone make a cancellation?

slot 0 means 0 slots, in other words it's fully book. haha.

the schedule there is already up to date.

cancellation wise, i think chances quite low leh.

so.. goodluck for your prac 1!
