very common problem... I've heard from the guys using the 3 wheelers from lta enforcement and orange team ntuc...they always have problems with the lock system!

Weirdly, people keep mentioning about the problem with the tilt-lock system.. But nobody is sharing what's the problem like and symptoms of it..

Hi.. I've check wit aspoon minimum downpayments for MP3 400 is $5k.. Price is $14500 w/o insurance..

Hi @rock n roll, $14.5k w/o insurance is quite cheap already for MP3 400.. I was quoted $15k machine only begining of this year.. So tempted to "upgrade" my MP3 now.. Hehe..!

Hi,

I am thinking of switching to a MP3 400, currently riding a super four spec III. Read thru some of your posting and there seem to a bit of problem with the tilt lock and steering lock. What is the difference, pardon me. I stay in Jb but is a Singaporean so I travel in and out very frequently, with so many bumps located at both side of the immigration will if damage the tilt lock frequently, your honest reply will be much appreciated.

Hi @conric, So far I've shared this "problem" with Fuoco riders and nobody actually had problem with the tilt lock so far, including myself and I too frequent JB for petrol, makan and the occassional hang out.. As for the story I've shared in this forum, I pressumed that it's just part of wear & tear for the tilt lock system after being used for countless number of times.. But it's just my theory, sadly nobody could truely verify it.. Anyway, I do hope mine will never fail on me..

Hi all

i'm taking 2B lessons currently and am thinking of getting the MP3-125 as my first bike.

however, with intentions to take 2A after a year or so, will riding an auto 125 as a 1st bike is ok ?

appreciate some advise (else i need to scout around for other alternative models) :D

Hi @babymuji, about your concern here.. I believe it does actually affect most scooter riders.. I remembered taking my Class 2A when I was frequently riding my X9 back then, I was pushing the Super 4 into the parking area with my left hand on the handle and my right on the "spoiler" and when I needed to stop the bike, I actually pressed on the left lever forgetting that it's the clutch and not the brakes..! Thank god I manage to put my right hand back on the handle and brake, saving the bike from falling and a huge embarrassment.. Hehe..!

Hi folks

am riding a MP3 400 for the past 2.5 year (25k KM), and just want to share my experience too.

Air-filter / Stalling problems - these started about 1 year after I bought the bike. Went back to ADH because it was still under warranty. The mechanic there somehow re-tuned the bike (?) and it stalls less now, but will frequently backfire (popping noise) when decelerating. He said this is nothing new, and just advised to clean the air filter and put in some fuel addictive regularly. Can anyone else confirm the effectiveness? :)

Engine gear roller/teeth dunno what problem - these started about 2 years. The rear wheel would suddenly jam up especially at low speed. Had switched over to Pan Euro Bikes then (highly recommended for their friendly and knowledgeable staff). Repairs cost about $250, together with other servicing items.

Tilt-lock hydraulic fluid leakage - this happened recently (2.5yr), where I noticed that the tilt lock was not securing itself properly. Plus the tell-tale sign of fluid stains below the front wheels. Had it repaired at Pan Euro, where they replaced a valve/controller thingy for $150.

The riding experience is superb so far. This being my first bike, I don't really have any other references to compare to. The scary part is that things just seem to fall apart after the 2nd year mark. Am (nervously) laughing it off as Italian QC standards... but still keeping a finger crossed that things won't get worse subsequently.

Cheers,

It seems like MP3 400 got lots of prob after few yrs.. Hmm

Yeap.. Read quite abit of reviews saying that the 400 had issues.. And don't know why they discontinued the 250 version, anyway "touch wood", hopefully my 250 can last.. It's 5 years old(49k) already and only had wear and tear issues..

Well, I don't have any tit lit problem except for one sensor faulty ($90 to replace).

Good to know that.. Motivates me more to "upgrade" my MP3.. Still not too sure about the 400 and also worried about the consumption.. Since they all have the same size tank, I wouldn't want to pump too often due to lesser mileage..

If I'm not wrong, he's also willing to sell it away but I can't remember how much.. Or else, get a Phantom and trade it with him..? Haha..! Kidding.. Anyway, the 250 is hard to come by..

Hi guys, I'm currently riding a phantom 200. Am seriously considering a mp3 400 as i just got my 2A.

few questions,

1) i read that the average servicing costs ard 150-250, how often do we need to do this? includes the engine oil change and spark plug and belt i assume?

2) the tilt lock problem, is it really serious? or can it be avoided simply by disabling if the tilt lock is unneccessary?

3) other than official distributor, Ai De Hua, is it hard to find shops who know how to service this bike?

in all, i think it's a very nice bike and looking to get it soon! hope bros here can give me the advice i'll need to make a good choice. thanks! :D

Got bike must ride!

2) i don't have tilt lock problem after 1.5years of riding.

3) Yes... many around to do normal servicing...

Hi @-zion88-, can you elaborate more for this problem..? Like what type of failure that you encountered..? I've shared of this problem before with the Fuoco forum but someone did confirm to me that it wouldn't happen..

Sorry, no longer active in this forum, so seldom log in..

Anyway, i bought my MP3 250 from a fellow forumer here. It's around 5 years old, and main problems I have with the bike is the tilt lock which will not activate when ever I hit a speed bump.

Been to PSC twice, and twice after I ride out from PSC and hit a speed bump, the tilt lock will not activate when stationery or at low speeds. Since I stayed in the west, I gave up going to PSC as their opening hours is office hours and only on weekdays. So I am riding the bike without the tilt lock.

But there are times when my bike is parked on a slope, the tilt lock lights blinks indicating that it's "alive"! but once I release from main stand, back to square one...

As for riding, i used to be able to hit 110km/h. But now at 90-100km/h the bike is shaking like hell. Maybe its time for me to do a complete check up and get all the major problems fixed if there is any.

My own personal opinion... apart from the storage space and the occassional attractions... a sliver wing is much better. Coz I prefer being able to fully stretch my legs with maxi scooters than placing it 90deg on the mp3.

Hi guys, I just gotten my 2B last week and the MP3 is the reason I took a 2B. I have biker friends giving sound advises but in the end its still up to myself to decide. The starting questions would be whether I want to go Class 2, and if yes then bear with a cheap 2B bike till Class 2 which options will open a lot. Otherwise get a Runner or Phantom because these two are more "common" and hence easier, cheaper to service/ maintain. Furthermore MP3 is more expensive and the "myth" of safe with 3-wheels does not apply while cornering. I do appreciate their advices though but I'm still looking forward to a MP3.

Anyway, my concern is servicing and maintenance. Alexandra Village have workshops but I’m wondering if they can service/ maintain a MP3 at a reasonable rate?

Hi guys, I wanted to change to a MP3 400 from my honda S4, but my bike shop tell me there is no news stock. Need to wait for piaggio distributor to bring in new shipment. But they don know when is it coming estimated to be in only in end year. Is it true? What models is sg brinfg in? Can anyone enlighten me? Thanks a million.

Hi zmonster, it is confirmed that new 125 and 400 models will be in within 2 - 3 months. That means probably end of the year. They cannot say what are colors that are coming in though... I have checked with ADH this morning. FYI, I'm looking for a 125 model.

Seems like the MP3s are extremely rare, even for 2nd-hand ones... I'm considering other scooters, namely the Daelim S3 and Gilera Runner ATM. I'm sure you have something else in mind just in case.
