Anyone replaced their chain slider before?

 • Normally chain slider can last how long? The S4 manual say inspect every 1000km.
 • What's the purpose of it? If it is worn out too much, can cause chain to snap or de-rail?

I asking this question coz i never replace chain slider after riiding 52,000km. And there's sound coming from my bike lower part. Not sure where.

Thanks for reply.

hi.. I'm a relative newbie in terms of modifying my super four. I juz bought a aftermarket exhaust but I blur on how to install it. I did tried installing it but I couldn't even remove my original stock exhaust.. So can anyone help me out? thanks~!

Hi all, I'm a new owner to a new Spec III and I'm still getting to know my bike. I've clocked about 2500km of mileage and I've a few questions regarding my bike. I hope everyone is patient enough to bear with my questions. :giddy:

1. No one really told me til what mileage can my bike be considered to have finished running-in. Some say after 3-4 oil changes. Some say after 5000km. A few others say different things. So which is the correct one?

2. The idle speed when I rode the bike out (1st hand) I think was around 1.5rpm. Now it has dropped to around 1.3.

a) Is this normal?

b) Is this a normal occurence to every Super 4 or is it normal for a bike that is still being run-in?

3. When I first rode the bike out from the shop, the throttle response is tip-top. When I open the throttle, can feel the revs throughout the bike. When I engage the clutch and open the throttle, the bike will move immediately. But now, my idle is at 1.3 and when I open the throttle, from 1.3 to around 2.2, there won't be a response. I mean there is a response, but only at 2.2 ONWARDS, will you feel the revs throughout the bike. So if I open the throttle very slowly, the sound is like 'rrrrrrrrrrrRRRRRRRRRR' compared to 'RRRRRRRRRRR' when the bike was new or when I blip the throttle, the sound is 'rrrrrrrrRRRRRRRRRrrrrrrr' instead of 'RRRRRRRRRrrrrrrrrr'. :cheeky: I don't know how to explain it, but there seems to be a slight delay in power from my idle rpm to around 2.2rpm. Is this normal?

4. Sometimes, when slowing down and when gradually downshifting the gears one by one, when I'm in 3rd or 2nd gear while clutched in, I will feel a vibration at the clutch lever and also somewhere around the transmission area. Am I imagining things? Or is there really something happening with the clutch/transmission system?

A hearty thanks to all, in advance.

Possibilty taht your cam chain tensional or slipper slacked. I think it can be adjusted...get a mechcanic to do it.

There is not fast rule to how much nileage etc...but reference with regards to that would be the first 3000km. The most experience will tell you to "run in" the bike thru the feel of how the engine feed back and here meaning..done blown the engine at hi-rev, when you feel things scrapy (metal rub metal in this case, your new piston ring scrapping the cylinder to fast) etc..

The best way to break n a new bike is to cruise under 90km/hr and occasional at 100km/hr. when it feel "harsh" at the engine block...ease off your throttle. Many old timer use to ride up to West Malaysia at mostly costant speed of 90-100 km/hr CONTINUOUSLY and clock that 3000km mark. Its what they call..."honing the cyclinder wall"..its a great way for a refine breaking of a new engine.

Nothing to be alarm about...normal stuff lah. Just make sure you change your motor oil (be it synthetic ot mineral..not important but don't use hi vecosity oil, 40w the most..new bike..the thinner the better..from 0w to 5w) timely and check your coolant level..follow the manual and you are off with a fine machine.

Specially illustrated just for you to understand visually. Note the shaded area is inside your engline block. The adjuster housing is outside sticking out and has a size 10 to 12 hex nut for access but I suggest you get a mechanic who can do it or go to Boon Siew. Hope this helps.

wad are the spanner sizes commonly used for super 4 vtec1?

That's a whole bike you talking about....size 6 to size 32 (open wench spanner or box spanner)...and don't forget Allen keys too.

You are welcome Hellevate :)

:o

wah ah pek u really not alot of thing ah..

Aiyah...old already..like ex PM Lee mah..mentor mentor and tai_chi a bit to you all mai b4 I become dementia..ride bike also sit Toon_Ba-Lek.

Btw..the largest size I mentioned is for the cone bearing nut (right under your handle bar). The most commonly use tools are size 8, 10, 12, 14, 17, 19 and 24. For size 8 to 14...get "T-bar" box spanner..very useful. Oh...if you are shopping for tools..please buy the Japanese or US ones...tad more expensive but last till your next gen:cheeky: eration.

I am having a problem of engine died off when come to a stop after some ride. It's random at times. Sometimes, the engine RPM seems to be flactuating and there was a sign of engine skipped a "heartbeat" but would still be firing after that.

On some rare occasion when just stopped at traffic light, once bike stopped, the engine died off.

Compared to other bike i rode b4, idling on my vtec1 is not so smooth. Acceleration is also sluggish.

Anyone experienced this b4 and wad did u do to solve it?
