Hmm.. reali worth considering. But m trading in my bike with bike shop. They wouldn't allow me to swap, if not gota look for another handle bar. Guess will have to wait till get the bike than see what to do or get new handle bar.

i would like to share,, Topic: Engine stall after long distance

 

I had faced two occassion when travellign along PIE, upon exit. My engine stalled. Even after recrank, its hard to maintain the idling. The temp solutuon was to off the bike for 5-10 minutes, adn its back, idling without issue. I had my idle set at 1.1 rpm.

 

Initially, thought it was a lean mixture at low rpm. Tuned my low rpm with Yoshi box, but somehow the issue still happen.

 

Did a search on net, stommers over at Europe faced the same problem i described, they tried a lot remedy on k2-k6 models. Concluded that its TPS issue..

 

Does any senior strommer here faced this issue. It's pretty hard to describe to the problems to mechanics.

 

Anyone care to share???

i think your idling is a bit too low at 1.1k

i only faced this problem once when i clutch in to change gears and the engine just died. stop and re start without any other issues.

Btw what is TPS?

 

It happen to me once from serangoon to jurong point. the trip on the expressway was okay, until i hit w 1st traffic light, i find e idling getting irregular... then after abt 3 traffic light the bike die off. had to start the bike and maintian the rev up...

 

so e next day i went to KnT to get my mechanic to check this problem, he was my throttle body. then tune and set the after warm-up idling RPM at abt 1000 RPM.

 

then yesterday nite butt itch try to change the after warm-up idling to 1.5K RPM, then the problem comes back again. but after i reduce the after warm-up RPM to abt 1.3K RPM. everything was okay liao.

 

BTW i'm riding a DL650K6

idling for the 1k is btw 1.1k - 1.2k rpm and 650 is 1.3 - 1.4k. If it stalls despite correct setting, most prob your bike needs a throttle body sync.

well bro, i believed its not a common throttle body sync. I had my throttle body cleaned, sync, valve adjusted, shim replaced. If u do a readup on net, its very common. I will show u the link later. They tried alot of method.

Hey bro..Went to Bukit Tinggi on Sat. Went up with 1 Vee and 1 Wee.

Estimated duration from GP to Bukit Tinggi is about 5 hours, including pit stop at the Bridge R & R and cut through K L High Way.

 

Me and pillion paid 10 RM for entrance fee so I guess per person is 5 RM . Roads are winding with a slopes of 8 degrees radiant. There are a few humps though. Compare to other destination such as Genting or Cameron, roads here are more manageable. For a beginner like me, I find it quite relaxing. I didn't dare to ride faster as I had pillion with me. But if I was riding alone, I'm sure I would.

 

Be advise food up there not that cheap. What more can I say, just be careful when going up/down the roads cos heard before someone from SG did had a slight fall before.

 

Most remember moments:While going back on KL highway,saw a yellow sticker bike and thought it was a beemer. Well, it turns out to be the geeky Khaitronic who just came back from Betong. So on way back, the journey became a 2 Vees and 1 Wee ride.:thumb:

according to him, the shop owner said that this product is from a lonely guy in spain who does it by hand @ his home in spain and it's suitable for both DL650 and DL1000. But he is not sure if it will fit the DL650 ABS model. I believe it should be the same la...

Yeah ... Had Nasi Lemak over there. Bro I like your strobe light at NSH. One incident which happen to both of us. One vehicle got blinker on behind me.Tot it was Police. Give way. Turn out it was CBR 929 aka Sonic and his gang. Prob they were from Thailand. Seems like all the vehicle give way to them. :cheeky:

does anyone have any idea if the stock DL650 handguards can be install onto the AT handlebar?

 

You can be the first to Try and review it.....:cheeky: But I think it shouldn't be a problem. The only KNOWN problem is stock DL1000 handguard cannot fix into DL 650. Must die die use stock DL650 on the Wee.

I think i had similar problem recently. Went to and fro bukit tinggi w/o much problem. Just about to leave tuas chkpoint to head home, suddenly there's a loud backfire and i can hear a rattling sound and the engine died. When i restart my engine the rattling sound was still there and it dies off almost immediately as the idling is now below 1000 rpm.

 

Feeling glad coz im back in SG and at the same time worried, i decided to just ride off from tuas chkpoint to at least the road shoulder ahead(just in case if need to tow the bike). While riding i rev the engine up a few times and eventually my bike is back to normal.

 

Now i clueless of what had happened. Maybe drop by bike shop to check tmr. Is it becoz i've not done TBS??? Btw im riding Vee K8 and my Odo reading is just above 15K.

I think i had this when i first got my bike. To counter this, i throttle abit when clutching in so that the rev doesn't drop by 1000 rpm.
