Contact Brake Cleaner DIY

Hi guys.......

 

 

I need some advise on how i can apply the cleaner on my bikes, do i just spray it direct to my disc or near the calipers ( Wont it be sluppery for braking latter??).....this is the first time i tried it. Currently riding 125z / Spec 3.......

yea, so how? can use the contact cleaner to clean the piston of the caliper? when i change my brake pads, always very hard to push the piston back in

when u purchase the brake cleaner, u can spray at the disk and caliper, but avoid spraying at rubber material.

you should spray the cleaning chemical on your disc. Not on the pads, and not on anodised parts (as the colour will fade). Choose those contact cleaner that will not leave any residue behind. If the container says something like "cleans and protects", it means they will leave a thin residue behind. You will not want to use this.

 

If your disc has not been cleaned for a long time, remove the disc, use fine sandpaper to sand out the grooves, use strong degreaser and hot water to wash off all the dirt and oil. After install (remember to loctitie the bolts), use contact cleaner to spray on the disc and then wipe with paper hand towel (not tissue papers).

 

Its common at exhibitions or open-house that good brake cleaner will be sold at a few dollars, always grab one can to keep.
