LTA Vehicle Inspection

Hello....do we need to ride the bike down ourselves for the inspection or can I get someone to tow it down???

 

My bike inspection this year will clash with my confinement period, so impossible to ride over on my own. Please advice...thanks.

i believe the reminder letter for the inspection will come sometime like 1mth before the actual date of expiry for yr road tax

its okay to clear the inspection + renew insurance + road tax anytime during this period of 1mth

yr confinement lasts for 1mth?

err...my road tax due mid Nov. I'm due mid Oct. obviously unable to ride starting from sometime in June all the way till probably Dec.

Someone else can bring your bike for inspection on your behalf...provided that he/she doesn't ride it; it has to be towed there and back

hi bros.. are air horns legal? how much will u be fined if im stopped by TP or ROV? without mudguard how much is the fine?

I've had vehicular inspections where they test the horn, maybe you should consult LTA?

 

Mudguard...that one you need to scrutinize; something has to be done if you don't have it.

i just received my first inspection letter from LTA today...

 

is stated that my vehicle need to be inspected by 26 july 07...

 

so that mean i can go now?

 

but how long can the inspection cert valid?

 

can i renew my insurance now after i go for my inspection?

 

cos if i not wrong i need to renew my insurance b4 i can renew my road tax...

 

lastly which Inspection center is "relax" one?

Hi there. Well, my bike is due for inspection on the 27th of july. I have a couple of questions. (1) What do I have to bring along with me. (2) Do I have to make an appointment with the centre ? (3) I'm riding an SP. And well, my horn's sound is like "zao sia". As most of my friend's sp's horn is like that. Do u think they will fail my horn ? And lastly, What are they things that they usually fail for SP. Thanks alot guys in advance. I really needed the help as its my very first time going for inspection.

Not so sure, but I've heard of bikeshops doing inspections on the owner's behalf. Nevertheless, give LTA a call?

Technically yes. Bikeshops (to which you bought your bike from) can do that on your behalf, with extra fees pegged on top of it.

bring the reminder letter for the inspection and $$

that's pretty much all that u require for the annual inspection.

 

there's no need to make an appointment. just go down will do. but u may want to avoid the peak hours (e.g. lunchtime or weekends)

 

if the horn zao sia or sounds weak etc, then its for yr own safety that u get it replaced. i believe a new stock horn isnt going to cost as much as an accident. nevertheless, i believe the weird sounding horn can still pass the inspection as long as it is an electric horn.

If a bike has safely passed inspection, and I'm taking over(purchasing the bike from a friend), how would i get the road tax and insurance done?

 

Plus, if the bike passed the inspection, can it be safely assumed that the bike is a safe buy or would other obvious factors need to be considered (forgive the naivety)

the bike would already have an existing road tax running when u buy the bike. w/o road tax = illegal for the bike to be rode on the roads.

 

so, this leaves the insurance for u to settle. insurance can be purchased directly frm any insurance provider e.g. mitsui, axa, ntuc income, alliance

do a goggle for these companies to find out where they r located

u only need to provide the vehicle number to them to get the insurance done up. but pls do double confirm the deal with the seller of the bike before u get the insurance. dont end up in the situation when the seller put u aeroplane!

 

when the vehicle passes inspection, it means nothing except that the inspector feels that the vehicle is somewhat road worthy (i.e. close to original condition) on the instant when it was inspected.

 

if u have read thru some of the posts in this thread u would probably figure that some modifications (e.g. removal of catalytic convertor in exhaust pipe) can still pass the inspection sometimes.

they won't check if the IU is working or not

but if yr bike has an IU registered to it, i think it is only reasonable for u to at least bring the IU along with u when u go for the inspection, be it whether it is wired up or not

Normally TP or ROV they won't check your horn provided your horn got sound. Of cos the louder the better.

i already gone for my inspection last month during may.. and my road tax ended end of july... but till not haven;t received my roadtax renewal letter?
