Garmin zumo 550 damage is 1590 with Singapore Maps.

Damage without Singapore Maps is 1390 if i can remember correctly

Hi,

Does your 550 come loaded with the Singapore and Malaysia maps? Or is it supplied on a SD card or DVD?

I'm thinking of buying from states next year. And i'm wondering if the Sing-Mal maps can be shared between units (same or different models GPS).

Any advise from anyone?

Thanks!

Yes, MalSingMap's maps can be used on "overseas" units.

The only downside to buying in the States is that if you need to activate the warranty, then you will have to be responsible for your own freight.

Cheers

It's funny, but my US HCx set had no warranty papers in thebox. Perhaps the international warranty is based on the unit's ID? Only hoping nothing goes wrong with it.

Happy New Year, fellas.

Garmin local distributor is Navicom Technology (NT). So if you buy from their dealers, such as Perfect Watch, then your warranty will be covered locally by NT. Meaning, if there is a warranty claim, and it has to be sent for Taiwan for repair, NT will honour the warranty, and cover all the costs related to the warranty repair, including freight.

If your GPS is not bought from one of NT's dealers, then your warranty will still be under Garmin, but none of NT's business.

Hiya,

Thought I share some pictures of my home-made custom mount for Garmin Quest. Did not want to plonk down serious $$$ for a Touratech mount, so decided to make my own.

The black casing was a block of Teflon (I think) material given to me by a friend and I hand-milled the piece on a drill press with a porting tool. The aluminum bracket is a discarded piece from 1 of those offroad handlebar guards. Works well so far except for the power cord which works intermitantly (not quite sure what the problem is). Anyway, battery power is good for a whole day's ride so the cord is sort of redundant. The mount allows me to easily transfer the unit between my trailbike and streetbike.

The Quest adequately fulfills its intended purpose for me, a first-time GPS user. But I wouldn't recommend it as satellites reception can be slow or even non existent at times. Offroad navigation is not an option. Can't really complain as I got it used from eBay for approx S$360. In fact, my next target is the 60c series... if I can find a bargain on eBay.

The plug does not mate snugly with the ciggy socket.

Can't recall the exact one; but plenty of sellers on eBay. Just be careful with the freight charges and make sure that the amount is specifed by the seller. Also help if the seller has got good feedback and numerous prior transactions.

Good luck.

Just beware of sellers from China. Very cheap and sometime very new sets at very low price. Check their rating and you will find that they have their good rating given to them all within a day or week.

Ask question and you will get standard reply. Think getting from online store with good rating will be a better buy.
