In RM, the ones with real power are the directors, rendering the coaches as puppets most of the time. Unlike SAF, whom has absolute say in the running of the club. This is something RM can never do.

Papers: Ron phones Reds

Ron: I WILL come back

Cristiano Ronaldo has phoned Manchester United to say 'I’ll be back'. SunSport can reveal that the Portuguese star dramatically made contact with Old Trafford for the first time in a month. Ronaldo, 23, has given United fans the news they most wanted by informing the club he would be going straight on holiday and would return, as instructed, for pre-season training. His call makes it clear Ronaldo does not envisage any move to Real Madrid in the coming weeks. The player was told he must be back at United three weeks from the day Portugal’s interest in Euro 2008 ended – July 10 – and he has said he will be there. :box:

Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon has dismissed suggestions the Spanish champions would be willing to spend £80million on Cristiano Ronaldo.

Speculation has been rife that Madrid would smash their own world-record transfer fee - set when they splashed £46million on Zinedine Zidane in 2001 - by offering Manchester United in the region of 100 million euros for Ronaldo if the Red Devils decided to cash in on their prize asset.

However, speaking just days after Madrid coach Bernd Schuster urged the club to 'pay what is necessary' to take Ronaldo to the Bernabeu, Calderon insists they will not break the bank for any player.

When asked about Ronaldo, Calderon said in remarks reported by Marca: 'There is no 'Cristiano Ronaldo case' because Manchester (United) do not want to sell.

'In any case, Real Madrid will never pay 100 million euros for anybody.'

United, who recently reported the Primera Liga champions to FIFA over what they considered to be attempts to unsettle the player, have stated that the Portugal international is not for sale.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Not that RM will never pay that kind of money, fact is, RM does not have the ability to pay that kind of money. They are already in debt and chances are, they won't bet their club on just one player to bring in revenues for them.

Simply saying, RM is just making it sound nice. Instead of saying they can't afford, they put it as they won't pay. Nice trick, but we know.

Ronaldo: The Real danger man

The Cristiano Ronaldo saga is “dangerous" for football according to one of the most influential figures in the game. German legend and Bayern Munich president Karl-Heinz Rummenigge last night launched a scathing attack on Real Madrid’s attempts to prise Ronaldo away from Manchester United. He fully backed United’s ‘no sale whatever the offer’ stance, insisting that if Real’s £80million bid to force Ronaldo to break his contract were successful, it would have terrible implications for game. “I can’t believe a club like Real Madrid can force a player like Ronaldo to cause such tension because the price that they will have to pay is too high for everyone," he said. "I think that this is dangerous for world football. Each club have to find their own way of dealing with these things in these cases. I would like to see Ronaldo stay at the club for the benefit of everyone. The rules are clear and Manchester United have a very strong contract with the player. Besides, if Sir Alex Ferguson says no, then he means no.”

Their past galacticos policy brought them their current situation. The current crop of players still command a high salary too. Plus they brought in quite a number of players last 2 seasons. Big club they may be, but big debt they are in.

But Glazer's debt are "one time" due to buying of the club. For RM's case its because of continous buying of players at exhorbitant prices. Its like forever digging a hole.

Glazers can settle the debt in time. To the very least, they do not interfere with Sir Alex with the running of the club. Just one this sole factor, it marks a vast difference and class from Real.

Real break the bank? Yeah right...

Michel Platini is hell of an arsehole. Being the UEFA President, he deems the public wooing of Ronaldo being all right, as Ronaldo is a great player and Real has the financial ability to do it. Therefore he shall not be taking any action against Real.

Ok, what nonsense is that? UEFA is there for th purpose of ensuring harmony in trade (in terms of players), or at least that is one of their duty. The way he puts it suggests that rich clubs are at freedom to do whatever they like, so long they got the money to back up their claims. So doesn't that further undermine the importance of other clubs? Simply, a further and more distinct line drawn between the rich and the poor. His appointment as the president is fast turning into a joke, if it has not already.

IMO i think he see it as normal..of course we're bitter that real madrid unsettled ronaldo..but we did that to OH too last year :D ..and bayern's chairman was very angry with united and wanted to report to FIFA

but surprisingly , he backed us instead of platini

If you noticed what Platini said since he was appointed, it's pretty obvious that he hates the EPL and is biased against it. If not why 6+5 rule and other sorts of rubbish? He takes sides with the La Liga instead.

Maybe you still think it's all right, but as a president, he should be impartial and neutral. Instead, he is acting like a clown.

sorry for the mistake.

as you can see, it is evident that Platini hates EPL, take sides with La Liga. He's turning out to be a joke, given what he says and what he does.
