This may sound cruel and sick but the best thing that can happen for Man U is for Ronaldo to get a major injury (broken leg) or lengthy suspension at Euro. Then he will have no choice but be indebted to Man U for still hiring him.

he wanna go let him go lor ... as long as the deal benefit United ...

suddenly i am hoping Portugal will get thrashed by Germany in the q=finals at Euro 2008 o_O

anyway, i miss wildcard.

just one of his insensate followers...

I don't think the move will materialise, simply due to the fact that RM are now in debt, and they won't be able to fork out such an astronomical sum for a player. Their galaticos policy had cost them hard in the long run and RM is feeling the strain on the finaince now. They will hope to buy at a price they think is reasonable but whatever pricing it will be, Man U will not give in.

Hopefully UEFA makes good of it's reputation and take some action against RM.

Real to lodge £75m Ron bid to Glazers

Real Madrid will reportedly sidestep Sir Alex Ferguson and Manchester United and lodge their bid for Cristiano Ronaldo straight to the Glazers. The Daily Express claims that the Spanish giants will offer £75million for the Portuguese winger's signature but, aware of Ferguson's determination to hang on to his star player, will make the proposal directly to the club's heavily in-debt owners.

Ferguson, though, appeared confident two weeks ago that the Americans would not entertain such an offer.

"I've had a couple of meetings with the Glazers and their attitude was, 'to hell with them'. They would sit a player in the stand - I'm telling you - to prove a point," he insisted.

"They're not going to give in. They've got balls and I've been delighted with them in that respect."

But, maintains the newspaper, 'that will not deter Real from going direct to the Glazers and it is becoming increasingly difficult for Ronaldo to return to Old Trafford. Real are fully briefed on the Glazers' highly-leveraged ownership of the club - with massive annual interest payments - and are not deterred by the Americans' insistence that their £600million debts and £80million interest repayments can be managed out of club resources.'

Should the seemingly unlikely claim from the Daily Express that Madrid have offered Ronaldo £300,000 per week be true, then it is easy to see why the player's head has been turned.

Real Madrid of today is not like the one in the past, where there were so dominant. Their league win was only due to Barca off tune for most of the season. Still admist all the transfer saga, I feel the move won't turn out.

well i guess we will know the answer soon... por is out of the euros...

Cheers! They are out! 2-3 days times we would know the result.

I actually feel glad they are out. With all the wrong media attentions I don't suppose they could concentrate on playing well. So now it means back to OT for showdown talks with Sir Alex. I very much believe that this wily old fox has his means and ways keep the players he wants. He proven it over the years. No doubt people such as RVN, Becks and Heinze have moved to RM over the years, it was purely due to MU not wanting them rather then giving it to RM's lust. While Sir Alex may not always get the man he wants, he does not lose the man he wants to keep.

For the sake of RM's shameless acts, I'll be cheering on Barca to topple them next season.

Ronaldo: I've had foot injury for three months

Updated: June 19, 2008, 11:25 PM UK

BASEL, June 19 (Reuters) - Cristiano Ronaldo has been playing with a foot injury for three months, the winger said after his Portugal team lost 3-2 to Germany in the Euro 2008 quarter-finals on Thursday.

'I'm going to have an operation now,' Ronaldo told reporters. 'I have had a small problem for about three months, in my foot.

'I'll have the operation and then have a good recovery period.'

About Ronaldo..... he is somewhat unappreciate to SAF for wat SAF has done towards him n develop him to b one of the best, regconised n fearsome winger in this modern football. but in return he make SAF worried when EURO 08 has started. but in my point of view, if ronaldo wants to go to Real, juz let him go n get the money. with tht amount of money SAF can buy many good players to fill in tht particular position tht has been left open. so this r some players tht can b a good addition to Man United. well, i get this frm the Man United Official Website. :thumb:

Scouted: Lukas Podolski

Polish-born German striker Lukas Podolski caught the eye with his double for tournament favourites Germany in their 2-0 win over Group B opponents Poland.

In action again on Thursday, Podolski will hope to continue his prolific form.

Here, United fan Glen Nicolas assesses his attributes...

Scouting Report

Player Name: Lukas Podolski.

Position: Forward.

Match Scouted: Germany v Poland.

Key Moment: Powerful rising volley 18 minutes from time that sealed Germany’s opening Euro 2008 victory.

Strengths: A proven finisher at club and national level. His 24 goals in a season helped Cologne win promotion to the Bundesliga. In Euro 2008 qualifying he scored seven times. He netted four in 22 league outings for Bayern in 2006/07 and last season hit five from 22, helping Bayern to a domestic double. Podolski also found the net five times in 12 UEFA Cup games.

Weaknesses: Has yet to prove himself in the Champions League.

Suitability: He could provide more competition for striking places, cover for Wazza and be an ideal foil for the England forward. Can score goals with his head and his feet.

Estimated Value: Bayern Munich paid £8million for him in 2006 so you could easily double that if he has a decent tournament.

Scouted: Arda Turan

The 21-year-old Galatasaray midfielder has already earned 21 caps for his country, scoring two goals in Euro 2008 so far.

Having scored against Switzerland, he also found the net in Turkey's incredible 3-2 win over the Czech Republic. Here, red-ronaldo2004 runs the rule over his qualities...

Scouting Report

Player Name: Arda Turan

Position: Midfielder

Match Scouted: Turkey v Czech Republic

Key Moment: Scored the first goal to aid Turkey's revival against the Czechs. Finished brilliantly as he was still sliding in to reach the ball.

Strengths: A versatile player with good close ball control. Can play on either left or right side of the midfield. Has a keen eye for goal as well as creating chances for the supporting strikers.

Weaknesses: He only has a small physique and does not muscle in for the ball often.

Suitability: He will provide cover for the midfield, but could also be a goalscoring midfielder like the Scholes of old. Good attack-minded mentality.

Estimated Value: Came through the youth ranks at Galatasaray and is reportedly valued at around £11million.

Scouted: David Villa

Spain kickstarted their Euro 2008 campaign with a 4-1 thumping of Russia, no thanks to Valencia hitman David Villa.

The 26-year-old bagged a classy hat-trick and proved his status as one of La Liga's finest frontmen is well founded.

Here, Talking Reds user dimebag420 assesses Villa's talents in a scouting report for Fanzone...

Scouting Report

Player name: David Villa.

Position: Striker.

Match scouted: Spain vs Russia

Key moment: His third goal. Villa made a great run down the left channel, sent the defender the wrong way and calmly slotted past the goalkeeper.

Strengths: Out and out goalscorer, good pace, makes intelligent runs and is deadly when one-on-one with the 'keeper.

Weaknesses: Possibly a little selfish in front of goal. Then again, show me a top striker who isn't!

Suitability: The link-up play with Rooney and/or Tevez would be excellent. Rooney's unselfishness in front of goal would certainly be welcomed by Villa. That said, Villa's flicked pass in the build-up to Spain's fourth goal proves he can also play provider. The Spaniard's knack for well-timed runs would also gel with Scholes and Carrick's ability to cut defences open with through balls.

Estimated value: £15million to £20m.

Scouted: Joao Moutinho

The 21-year-old Sporting Lisbon captain isn’t the biggest name in Luis Felipe Scolari’s Portugal side, but he began Euro 2008 in fine style.

As Reds fan Jill Graham points out, he was in the thick of the action during Portugal’s opener against Turkey, came close to opening the scoring in the first half (the highlight of which was his inch-perfect, diagonal pass to Cristiano Ronaldo), and was on spot to help wrap up the points.

Player name: Joao Moutinho.

Position: Attacking midfielder.

Match scouted: Portugal v Turkey.

Key moment: Aware of Raul Mereiles steaming up outside him, Moutinho collected the ball from Cristiano Ronaldo near the penalty spot, spun off his defender and laid it on a plate for his Portuguese team-mate to finish.

Strengths: Even in a Portugal side rich in attacking flair, Moutinho stands out, with a lockerful of tricks and the ability to put a pass on a sixpence.

Weaknesses: He's not the biggest – only around 5ft 7in – so might struggle to impose himself against robust Premier League midfields.

Suitability: Given the pace in the United line-up, Moutinho’s perceptive passing could take the Reds’ counter-attacking to new levels.

Estimated value: Around £15m.

Scouted: Ibrahim Afellay

Ibrahim Afellay is considered to be one of the brightest young prospects in Dutch football.

PSV Eindhoven's 22-year-old midfielder was an outstanding performer in their 2007/08 Eredivisie title success. He started his first match at Euro 2008 in the 2-0 win over Romania and impressed Talking Reds user ChorltonRed.

Scouting Report

Player name: Ibrahim Afellay

Position: Attacking midfielder

Match Scouted: Holland v Romania

Key Moment: Provided the cross from the right for Klaas Jan Huntelaar's 53rd minute goal, but the pass which Boulahrouz failed to capitalise on in the first half was fantastic.

Strengths: Very skilful and confident on the ball, has great balance and loves to take players on. He's a real creative influence at PSV.

Weaknesses: He doesn't seem to score very many goals. He only got two last season in 23 league appearances. But he has got an eye for goal and I think his contribution will improve.

Suitability: He's young and would add to United's threat going forward. Dutch players tend to settle well in England so it wouldn't be a problem for him. He's also been a regular in a championship-winning team.

Estimated Cost: Valencia and Arsenal are both interested apparently. He'd cost at least £10m, maybe as much as £15m depending on what he does in the rest of the tournament.

Scouted: Ivan Rakitic

Schalke's Ivan Rakitic caught the eye during Croatia's win over Germany at Euro 2008. Here, Talking Reds user Johan I he looks at whether the 20-year-old midfielder would make a suitable summer signing for Sir Alex.

Scouting Report

Player name: Ivan Rakitic

Position: Midfielder

Match Scouted: Germany v Croatia

Key Moment: Providing the cross that lead to Ivica Olic's goal in the second half.

Strengths: He provides an attacking edge to Croatia that troubled the German defence all game long. He's quick to attack, provides plenty of assists to the strikers, and he's prepared to defend as well. He's got creativity, flair, and vision. Did a good job as a bridge between midfield and attack.

Weaknesses: His lack of experience, but Sir Alex is excellent at nurturing young talent. Rakitic could be an excellent addition to United's midfield.

Suitability: He's only 20 years old and still has plenty of time to improve. He finished his first Bundesliga season with Schalke with 3 goals and 10 assists in 29 appearances. In the future, I could envisage Rakitic becoming a great partner for Anderson in the middle of the park. Rakitic would provide plenty of assists for Rooney and Tevez.

Estimated Cost: He is one the best Croatian youngsters after Luka Modric, so £10-15million.

Scouted: Andrei Arshavin

Andrei Arshavin's return from a two-match suspension at Euro 2008 was eagerly awaited by Russia, and the Zenit St Petersburg forward didn't disappoint.

A menace all night to Sweden with a goal into the bargain, Talking Reds poster Red 68-99-08 says United should make a move...

Scouting Report

Player name: Andrei Arshavin

Position: Forward

Match Scouted: Russia v Sweden

Key Moment: Almost too many to mention. He really makes Russia tick. He scored Russia's second goal - a just reward for the impact he made throughout the game.

Strengths: Strong runner, good finisher, great movement. But undoubtedly he strongest asset is his skill and creativity.

Weaknesses: He's not the most physical of players, but his energy and ability to beat players means that shouldn't be a problem.

Suitability: Perfect. He's adaptable, he can play up front, off the main striker or out wide. He'd be a great addition to our squad.

Estimated Cost: Arsenal are the latest in a long line of clubs to be linked with a move that cost around £12million - but expect his price to rise if Russia continue to progress at Euro 2008

so wat r ur opinion guys???
