Hihi, well got myself one of those rs tuono 125s from mah. So far it runs great, a lot better than my ol crappy cbr150 from thailand. It now has 70 clicks on the clock. Will post pics as soon as my gf gives me back my digi cam.

however, i do have a few qualms about it, can anyone help?

1) notice stuttering at 5500 rpm at 3 gear onwards - my bike is in singapore, so it shouldn't hav a cdi restriction, and it does have a powervalve. Am i right?

2) it dies while idling, dealer said its normal for 2-strokes even when brand new?

3) manual says never to go above 6km rpm, shld i stick to that?

4) dealer puts in unknown brand (mineral) 2T. should i change it asap?

5) would there be a problem of not switching off the fuel tank? cos i keep forgetting

at the moment its all dandy from here. yeah so far its great to run on it. hope to get some running in tips and maintainence tips from u guys

2T juz use those more 'branded' like motul

juz to prevent piston jam but think abit hard for u to jam since is a new bike

but is also help to let the piston in tip top condition

no leh.. i'll be working on New Year eve..

mayb you can see me riding on my little woolen lamb along Orchard Rd.

kaka

maybe will organise 1 this coming weekend, but but I might be leaving

my Bike at Ideal to be sent for inspection.. stupid NEA officer catch my

bike for emitting too much white smoke

if not it'll be next week liao..

woah bktan, I think your pillion seat can will fit my RS 125 leh..

it seems so much alike.. maybe you can source out for some carbon

fibre fairing for your truno.. haha

sorry that I can't help you with your query cos I know nuts bout truno.

Btw is it a auto or manual bike? 2 stroker or 4 stroker?

if it's a 2 stroker, I guess you should feel it with the best milk and run in

strictly in accordance to the machine manual.

But if it's a 4 stroker, you can try running it the hard way, following the

motoman method. But you will be solely responsible for the result. hee

mm.. well think u know a lot about the tuono because

tuono125 == rs125 - fairing

it has exactly the same specs/engine/everything just minus your cool looking playstation fairing. So far i'm doing the milk and run in according the manual.

e.g. Don't lug motor, dun high rev motor, vary speeds a lot, on expressway try to hit the max rpm then slow down and change down, change up and go again a few times till reach exit.

i'll be going to top up motul 600 once the tank's finish, ok to mix mineral wif fully synth 2t?

and what kind of gear oil shld i use to run it in?

you're talking about the cable rite?

I'm sure your seat has the hook.

The cable has 2 hoops at both end, and both end are supposedly to be

hoop through your helmet to your bike's hook.

It's kinda difficult to secure your seat when you put the 2 hoop through

your bike's hook.

Take a look at my pic.

http://www.singaporebikes.com/forum/files/untitled_201.jpg

My pic show a more sensible way of hooking your helmet. One side of

the cable hoop is fixed to the bike's frame using a screw. While the other

is a hanging end. But I have yet screwing the cable hoop to my bike yet.

But do you have the hoop in the 1st place?

Well, I think it's a good idea to vary your riding speed. If you are too

soft with it, it might not be able to take hard riding after the running in.

Do give a few hard whack once in a while. Even the manual also suggest

that.

http://www.singaporebikes.com/forum/files/untitled_652.jpg

For 2T, I think it's best to use fully synthetic. Motul 600 will be good

enough. But it's better to top up until your 2T tank is very very low.

You can also try to drain the 2T before topping up with the new 2T.

As for gear oil, I'm not sure what kind to use. But what I suggest is that,

since your engine is still in the running in stage, it would greatly help, if

you're could flush the engine before topping up with the desired gear oil.

This would help to empty your engine of the metal residue produced

from the running in of your new engine. Go get a cheap bottle of gear

oil from Carrefour for the flushing part. And use a good oil for the

running in of the engine.

But most probably you'll be going to MAH motor for the servicing, right?

Hope that helps.

sighs..guess what bike cuts out on me on tpe right on new year's eve!!!!!?!

aprilia somehow lives up to its name. even with the tuono125

problem started when i was on the way home at 230am. was riding out, about 2 km out, i was on 6th gear and the gear suddenly went, causing the "RUNNING IN" bike to rev all the way to 11k rpm. got a major shock from the loud sound so i stopped at the bus stop to let it cool for a moment.

started out to ride again, now whenever i hit 5000 rpm i hear tingling noise from the front, (where engine is) but below 5 and after 6 the noise miraculously disappears.

was about another 5km out, the gear went again, causing another 11k rpm rev. i'm totally freaked by then. however i need to get home, so i let it cool then started again.

this time on the expressway, another 10km out the bike's chugging along all of a sudden, i felt as if the gear was gonna go again, so i clutched in and then the bike just dieded and refused to start. Pulled to the side. tried to start, no go, put neutral no go. switch the fuel to off to resever no go. So decided to bump start it. ran with the bike no go.

waited for 1 min without doing anything, switched all the switches again, and it starts?!!! the tingling noise still occuring.

now about 500m from my doorstep, the bike dies off again??!!!! i pushed awhile. waited and it started again.

when i got home, 330am i noticed the carb was condensing water vapour, meaning its dog darn cold? how can this be?

man i wish someone can provide me with an answer to this. so sad! and i thought i got a problem free bike. anyone wif any ideas around here? what's that darn tingling sound at 5k rpm

i have so far ran in the bike is per manual instructions man, varying speeds on the highway, always switching gears, never go above 6k rpm. never stick to one speed for more than 15 secs

man.. don't lose heart..

just bring it to MAH motor on Friday to let them have a look..

frankly speaking I have no idea what is wrong with your bike. But

could the noise of the gear cause by the gear slip. What I mean here is

the gear falls in between gear 5 and gear 6, and the gear aren't engaged.

The noise is cause by the gear trying to catch each other.

When the noise occured and the RPM rev to 11k RPM, the bike doesn't

move any faster, right? If that's the case, most probably is that you did

not kick your gear fully or mayb there's something wrong with the gear

which cause it to slip so easily. I personally had encountered that before.

But no matter what, don't lose heart.

This kind of things only makes you a better rider and know what is the

root of the problem when things like this happen again.

Dunno how many here owns a 250.

Getting a old 1 cost around 3.5K for a FN plate, which means you will

ride it for around 2 more years. 3.5K is is not inclusive of amount you

gonna spend to redo your bike. And for a 7+ years old 250, it should had

been ridden by a few owners and you wouldn't know exactly what is the

condition of the bike.

Alternatively, you could spend that 3.5K + the amount you gonna spend

to redo an old 250 to pay the downpayment for a new 250. But that

would also mean that you will be committed to 3 - 4 years of installment.

Above mentioned is quoted by my friend Cruiser. kaka

You make the choice. But the new 250 really look sweet and MAH motor

has only a few left. Aprilia is also not manufacturing any more 250.

Running in should not be done with fully synthetic 2t for the first 100km because it does not give enough friction to smoothen out the engine parts.

Same thing for the gears, dun use 4T, just use mineral gear oil. After 100km u should drain out the oil and put in ur preferred 4t.

The most important phases of running in are during the first 100km. Go ride on hilly roads to utilise engine braking, which will give proper sealing of the piston ring.

As for the gear slipping, i think its really screwed up, it shouldnt happen for a new bike, or u can try to use mineral gear oil, or enxt time u try to kick harder

Tingling sound...might be piston rings screwed due to the high revving... but dont worry piston rings are realli cheap compared to the piston

cold carb...thats pretty normal, the carb takes in the cold air and mixes it with fuel, some more urs is a nakd bike...

Don't worry, go back to MAH, your bike is covered under official warranty for the 1st year

good luck n happy new yr!

and btw, tuono125 = rs125 - fairing + lower gearing

for sale :

rotax 122 clutch basket - very low wear, see to believe!

25 piece cdr - brand new $8

17" monitor - flickers when cold $10

castrol chain wax & chain spray - still a lot left $5
