Thanks for the replies guys. Hats off to you guys who ride to work. I absolutely hate riding in traffic. I think my RS will remain a Sunday morning queen until I gather sufficient balls to make my way to Pasir Gudang.

didn't come forums till now.

i hope you managed to get the specs you needed.

Dang, could have saved myself $30. Haha... I had the wrong part shipped out. Am going to open my bike up now to take a look. Then place another order.

At least I learnt my lesson the hard way - Patience is a virtue, especially when you need specifics on ordering parts from websites that aren't tardy with packing and shipping orders.

I also found out that this forum isn't as testosterone-charged as other UK/US motorcycle forums. Here, its brimming with estrogen, all talk and little action.

hi guys , i wish to purchase a 07 rs125. can share w me the maintenance for such a bike ... is it very bad ?

Yup, pretty bad. If you don't earn more than $50,000 annually, this bike is a bad bike to get. You'll end up selling it or looking for someone to take over the installments after a few months because eating homecooked instant noodles everyday just to support your bike will eventually take its toll.

Sounds pretty serious. Might be a leaking carb or tank.

Take good care of your ride and your ride will take good care of you.

RS125 - 2B bike with the power of 2A bike with the cost of Class 2 bike.

I save cost and use gatorade for brake fluid and Naughty G for gear oil monthly. Sometimes Red Bull. Minimal detrimental effects and rather efficient.

Ride safe..!

One of the few reason I seldom post msgs now. Apart from being away from my bike.. :(

Timeline for myself now would be

Get my bike back around December, start saving up for all the parts I need. 1 shot buy out everything and go back on road by July. Year end (2011) I should be back on the track with the sweet stuff.

Oh yea.. Found this pic on very demotivational posters.

Yeah, wish u still had your bike. I'd gladly buy you many nice dinners to help me save the cost of shipping another part in I wrongly ordered the first time round, cos I know you would have helped me out by simply opening the thermistor on your bike, which would have taken a size 14 wrench and all of 2 minutes.

Anyway, am looking forward to your next bike!! Hurry dude! Eat less, save more $$! hhaahhaa...

Take this experience of mine into comparision :

RS125 vs RS250 maintenance

1. 2T : (125) about 1litre/1000km vs (250) about 1 litre/2000km

2. Gear Oil : (125) change every 2000km vs (250) change every 10,000km

3. Valve : (125) wash/service every 2000km vs (250) wash/service every 10,000km

4. Petrol : (125) about 20-25km/litre vs (250) about 13-16km/litre

5. Carbrator servicing : (125) every 2-3mths vs (250) every 6-9mths

6. Spark Plug : (125) change every mth/2000km vs (250) change every 10,000km or more.

I came across this rather informative post today. Would it be safe to assume that the figures still stand and are the same regardless of whether the bike is used everyday vs weekend only rides?

Do keep in mind that the person who posted this did not have a well-tuned bike.

RS125 vs RS250 maintenance

1. 2T : (125) about 1litre/1000km vs (250) about 1 litre/2000km

My bike runs a 2T:Fuel ratio of 1:80, which means I use 1L of 2T for every 80L of petrol.

My bike's fuel consumption gives me 30km per litre, which means, my bike consumes 1L of 2T per 2400km travelled.

2. Gear Oil : (125) change every 2000km vs (250) change every 10,000km

I change my gear oil every 2000km. There are other RS250 riders who change their gear oil every 3000km. This depends on the gear oil used, the type of riding (street or track racing), and the type of shifting (clutchless, or rough noob).

3. Valve : (125) wash/service every 2000km vs (250) wash/service every 10,000km

My bike is tuned well, which means less carbon build-up, so I clean my valve whenever I feel like it. If I don't, it doesn't seize up anyway. The RS250 valve is very very different in design and construct.

4. Petrol : (125) about 20-25km/litre vs (250) about 13-16km/litre

5. Carburetor servicing : (125) every 2-3mths vs (250) every 6-9mths

Personal preference. I do it whenever I like. Longest I've gone without a carb servicing was over 5000km, and it was a little boggy, throttle response was not as good.

6. Spark Plug : (125) change every mth/2000km vs (250) change every 10,000km or more.

My bike has little carbon deposits, and I change my spark plugs once a year, sometimes less often. I only change plugs as often as 3 plugs per month when I am tuning my carb. Once the carb is tuned, I re-use my old plug. Clean combustion means less carbon build-up, which means less plug fouling and changes.

I remember getting a good 330km with full tank of about 9+litres.. that's my best... going at an average of 100-120km/h.. and it held on till I changed my carb.

my worst would be about 200km but that only happens during my running in period..

and about 220-250km when i changed my 28mm carb to a 34mm carb.. gg at 120/130kmh average..

Assuming by one full tank, you mean only your main tank (10.5L), excluding your reserve (3.5L), you should be able to travel up to 210-250km.

On my most conservative setting, on my main tank (10L), I could travel up to 350km, sometimes more. I had a fuel economy of 35km/L. Including my reserve, I could travel up to 470km on a full tank, including depleting the reserve.

who is this dannis??

He used to ride an RS125, then went on to ride the RS250. To say his bikes were good would be a little stretch on the truth.

Just so you don't get your hopes up for nothing, I guarantee you that you won't get good mileage by sending your bike for tuning.
