Christmas is the time when u have lots of road blocks. Thought no-one is commiting an offence, lots of inconvinence is created. My suggesstion is that u guys pick to go out early then settle somewhere by 12midnight then hang around till morning.

 

Another suggesstion is to ride in to someplace in Rompin in Msia, book into a hotel like "Hotel Sri Rompin Malaysia" n share 4 to a room which cost around $60rm/night. Then return the next day. I suggest this hotel because this is the hotel which allows u to park u bikes in ur room! Rompin has a nice beach n it is somewhere near to Mersing. The roads there is quite challenging but do be careful of opposite traffic. And be-careful of crossing cows...lol...yes, cows esp when in rompin vincinity.

i am on for the ride to malaysia. long wanted to go but does not have a good tour guide and not that adventurous enough to go on mi own. y not juz ride around free and easy instead of staying in a hotel? msot probably would wanna spend 60 ringgit in at hotel. they rather spend it on petrol food and cig. haha perhaps mike can lead us or something. melaka? haha

i'm plannin to buy aprilia125.. went to mah today.. they quoted 5500$ for a FT plate which includes 2nd party insurance, roadtax and also transfer fee.. n also 1 arai helmet.. wht u guys think.. gud deal?

Anyway, good luck with your purchase. Have a good look around before deciding which to get. If you want an older bike that is a lot cheaper, i think ppl like safetycar and some others are selling.

Anyway, how old are you? Age plays a big factor in insurance dude.. And personally i dun see the need in getting 2nd party, it jacks up ur normal 3rd party insurance by a quite high percentage..

 

Personally i feel shops charge damn high for bikes.. You talking abt FT? Someone in this forum got FT for 4K.. Dun be taken in by the free gifts that Mah is using to lure you in.. Look around carefully, and better still get from private seller..

 

FU plate go for 3.6K-3.8Kplus from private owners... U'll save alot by not getting from shop... You really got the money get a new bike or a bike like Jieliang's.. quite new and cheaper than wat Mah would quote you...

 

And pls get one of the guys in the forum to follow u check out your bike if you buying from private owner..

an FZ plate 8mths old bike is selling at 6k. condition is good. i viewed the bike already. can buy but need to find ur own finance or u pay cash.

Vik, to my point of view, shops open for business n when we talk business, it is like so long as their price is reasonable, i think it is ok. Otherwise where do their profit comes from?

 

I just think that so long the service is good n quality is there, it is alright to let them earn some. But if that shop give a f*** attitude, then bycot that shop lah.

 

Aprilians reputation hasnt been good so far as i think esp when at a time now that i go around looking for my new bike n relative finance part. Even to other riders, this bike is for crazy n loaded ppl. Just hope that one day more ppl will come to accept the fact that this is not a problematic bike but just a bike that needs constant attention. And ppl will get to understand the fact that this bike is actually more stable n have better handling that most others. OTHERWISE WHY APRILLA GOT THE WORLD #2 BIKE IN TERMS OF SAFTY N HANDLING WITH COMPARISION TO ALL BIKE MODELS IN THE WORLD IN JUNE2005?

 

Ppl who are reading this, esp all the moto shop ppl, pls stop telling others that aprilla is a damn problematic n **** bike. Dont scare everyone n then try to sell the models u have just to increase ur sales.. Pls pay some respect to Aprillas. Aprillians paid respect to all other bike models n never criticised any make n model b4. Pls be more gentleman.

i'm 18.. so the insurance they told was 1200$. transfer fee arnd 150$. roadtax 40$.

helmet 100$

 

so just the machine price will be arnd.. [5500- (1200+150+40+100)]

arnd 4000.

 

i tried my best to find thru forums n online classifieds... but no use.. just wasted 40days after gettin license.. some of the owners say only full cash allowed, some of the owners advertise thts its for sale but nvr reply to sms or pms... its not easy to find aprilia thru forums.. thts wht i feel.

 

thts y i thot of going to bike shop which will be much easier to find the bike n to get the loan (from private onwers it very very difficult to get a loan as not many of the shops doesnt allow to reloan APRILIA, dont know why!!!)

i will say 5500 is reasonable for an aprilia from a shop and especially from mah. what i not sure is the helmet and transfer fee. why are they harging u for a helmet? did u want to buy one from them? transfer fee from mi experience is 52 bucks from lta. even if they add in admin fee which can`t be so that expensive tha it cost 70 dollar? getting a loan for aprilia is definitely not easy cause i tried before. i got my biek from forumn and the condition ain`t good at all. i would advise you to have a reasonable amount on hand in case of any problem coming out from a bike. Even a bike shop as reputable as mah cannot guarantee that ur bike would not have any fault especially since its 2nd hand. mike is a good example. so try to look around more and dun let time pressure u into getting a bike 40 days is not a lot. i have heard stories of pple getting a bike from a shop and spend the next few months repairing in the shop again. so good luck in ur search. dun rush.

no.. they didnt charge me nything for the helmet.. they offered the helmet for free.. but, i was just calculating how much is the estimated price just for the machine, considering alll the things they was offering me..

 

i'm not sure abt the transfer fee... i must have heard it wrongly... my mistake

sleepy. some random rubbish; thoughts and opinions on the bike shop business in singapore:

 

you want good service, then you are not willing to pay?

 

bike shops want to give the best service, but then owners cannot understand why, for example, a 'perfectly working' thing is replaced according to service interval, then 2 weeks later, part fails, and then owner curses shop for 'slipshod service'.

 

there are service intervals. how many here actually rigorously adhere to them? i do not envy bike shops because if they were to stick to the proper service standards, charge by time spent on the bike, and use only original parts, and not the 'chiong' parts, then they will quickly go out of business except for the very rich customers.

 

the current arrangement in many shops is somewhat of a compromise.

 

aprilias are designed to within mere millimetres of tolerance for many of their parts. it is not a toyota corolla that you can just start in the morning, drive to work at 80km/h, and service maybe once every year or something (dunno, don't own cars). If you want a car equivalent, a honda phantom/ yamaha RX-Z is the bike equivalent of a corolla, with very user-friendly, very large tolerance, but not too great on performance. An aprilia rs125 is like a Lotus Elise, small car not super-fast, but great performance, excellent handling; but try going without regular servicing and tuning on that for a year and see what happens..

oh yah. to be sure, sometimes, even if one has the money to pay, bike shops cannot do the service to the standards that one wants (not necessarily my personal experience; friends tell me too).

 

it is almost like after dealing with too many 'cheapos' who want the choing part/shortcut method/ cheap thing that "guarantee 1000% can work" mod like cutting off something 'unnecessary'; these mechs cannot or don't bother to do it the proper way - since nobody knows, and nobody asks for it anyway.

 

the state of training for mechs at some places leave some to be desired.
