Errr... This mod is indeed unique... I am not sure whether is it legal or not, but most likely it is illegal. This means your encounters with the friendly and helpful TP officers will become more frequent..

You can be detached from the pipe by one of the following methods:

1. Fines and/or points;

2. When you realise that money spent on this mod could get you an actual motorcycle licence (2B/2A/2 - whichever is next);

3. When you realise that any such mod would actually make you look like... err.. well, you know like what.. :D

That is on the cosmetic side of things.. Should this mod alter technical characteristics of the engine/exhaust system, i.e. you are hoping to go fast and look cool, etc.... Dude, this thing on two wheels could kill.. I guess you can figure what's best for you yourself.

Cheers and be safe!

Totally agree... however the owner might have a completely opposite opinion.

Why would anybody want to pay extra for an after-market pipe and install it on a Spark, even if Yoshimura website classifies the bike as Street Sports?...

Street what? Oh, please... :faint:

Besides, there is always LTA.. or Police... or both.. :)

Maybe the bike was outfitted for the kup kia race lah.

The long long time I attended, it was hilarious! Think it was the introduction of pocket bikes.....see full face full leather grown ups riding pocket bikes racing......that was fun!

Ok....minus some veterans falling over and dislocating shoulders......its still fun.

I agree with quickshift. Such pipes are purely cosmetic and the money would be better spent investing in a bigger bike. Actually, when you look at it, the disparity of prices between classes of bikes is not exactly far. If you count at prices per cc, the bigger bikes are actually cheaper.

Slightly off topic....

For example, a brand new Revo costs $13K OTR while a Fazer600 costs $14.5K. That was what I told my friend when he wanted to get a brand new Revo & soup it up. I told him that the extras could be better used to upgrade to a bigger bike.

Exactly my point, mate! You hit the nail on the head!

Whichever way to look at it, having a pipe like this fitted on this particular bike will probably make you a hero and a subject of envy among your peers (I bet all those are under 20), but.. it will definitely agitate the TP/LTA folks.

Considering time, effort and inconveniences involved in proving your own innocence to the law enforcement.. Oh, boy, it is a major hassle which is not worth a penny.

Like those 'boy racers' that try to pimp up their old and rusty Ford Escort type bungers with spoilers, massive exhaust cans, low profile rubber and alloys.. All those mods would not make it a Ferrari, only put a smile on the face of those who have real powerful motors and understand it all (providing they care a little), but also give police another chance to pull you over.

Being a slip-on, some a$$h0le would probably consider nicking it at some point, which would hurt most..

Just my $0.02 worth.. :)

Cheers and ride safe!

c'mon lah.. he was only asking is the pipe legal or not.. its illegal.. so say "NO."

if he has the money to pay for the fines, by all means let him be..

he didn't say he want to fix that pipe and speed at 170km/h..

and it also got nothing to do with ur future grandchildren.
