just some curious questions..

 

What's the maintenance for the Goldwing Honda?

 

engine oil, fuel etc..top speed etc

 

and not many are seen are seen on sg roads,,probably not many.

I am also particularly interest.I am more concern on how the goldwing cross our border thrgh malaysia checkpoint...DO they pass by the car section,or the normal booth because the place is very narrow. I guess the maintenance wise wouldnt be much of a different as I ride an ST1100.Perhaps a little more on the EO. Anyone who rides a winger...please come in... :smile: :smile:

used to ride a GL1500. No special treatment for GLs, you will have to join the bike queue. The engine is above the curb and all u have to do estimate the turning radius of the bike and avoid ramping your side against the booth. It will be a harrowing experience if are alone and crossing the the checkpoint the first time.

4 to 4.5 litres of EO if I remember correctly... 13 to 15km per litre. 100 hp@5200rpm , the bike is not built for speed and the stock windscreen will shake like hell when it hit 160km.

ride de GL1500 type.

 

nothing much different from normal bike.

 

if u getting used unit. better check the rear air suspenion.sometime over time it would leak.and the replacement unit comes in complete piece.it aint cheap.

 

console radio is NON-waterproof.so better use the cover during dizzy rain too.

 

stock windscreen is useless.get the tour verison which is longer but if rider height is tall then may so time helmet hit it.rear passenager will be "feed" with lots of wind if using the tour windscreen too.

 

tire choice is quite limited(aint cheap) and do run bold if touring is de task.

not much to say about the pick up on the gl1800, top speed is bout 220-230 for any die-hard to control. but the thrill of moving such a big monster ard like a honda cub is really out of this world...

sorie to cut in e thread. But i had a neighbour riding a golden color goldwing. Special ordered Half windshield. No. plate, F? 381 or 318. If anyone noes abt his whereabouts, kindly leave a msg. Thanks. We were both staying in Toa Payoh and he has since shifted to Jurong West. I recently bot an FZ1 n wish to go touring with him n his mates. Cldn't also get him on his mobile. Tink he changed his Hp. no.. His name is Sunil. Nice bespecticled chap.

GL 1500 is a wonderful tourer. Can hit constant 180 - 200 km/h. Consumption is bad at high speed above 120km/h. Can give abt 15km at normal speed and only about 9 to 10 km/l at high speed. Oil change every 5k and filter every 10k. Servicing shld cost an avg abt $70 to 80. Regular maintenance shld keep engine without problem. Hope this helps for those Goldwing newcomers.

There are quite a no of goldwing owners in SG actually, feel "safe" when riding in a convoy with them esp in MY.

Last meet up in Kedah with Malaysian wingers few mths ago, almost two hundred goldwings (both SG and MY) gathered.
