No one is advising anyone to do anything.

We are simply stating it's not against the law to test-ride another motorcycle in a private property/carpark.

A 13-14 years old boy drove an Audi R8 in the carpark, it was all over the internet and local news.

i see... i get the point. but then again, does other tenants in the condominium not belong to the general public as well? or r they? i seriously would not like to be hit or run down by someone without a valid license having a joyride in the carpark within the premise where i reside. there r ppl walking in car parks too

i have seen so on more than 1 occasion. although they jux casually drive around the car park twice.

anyway... my opinion still stands... never buy a bike b4 u get the required class of license becoz there will always be a better deal in time to come

FYI, u do not need to be on the move to be deemed as riding without a valid license. even starting the engine is not allowed. if i rem correctly, u could be charged with intention to ride without a valid license if u sit on the bike with the key in the ignition but engine not running. the odds never look good when u try to play around with the law

hmmm actually i think police cars cant enter condos for no reason unless theres a purpose.

but yea, so what its safe to ride in a private estate. we nvr know what might happen. the risk is still there be it 1%.

Wat if he is CASH RICH? So wat???? Im not trying to fuel up the thread or place any flame baits. Like wat Reese said is true. If he really CASH rich can buy licence??? If he bang my car/ bike i dun want a REPAIRED one, i want a BRAND NEW one. And i want the same number plate i want the same mileage i want the same tires same air freshners everything same but not repaired. Can he do that?

Ya wats done is doned. So not asking for stone. Then in the first place DUN ASK FOR STONE TO BE THROWN!!! Even thou how careful you are riding/driving without licence IS STILL WITHOUT LICENCE! Dun ask for advise cos there is no advise and i dun think ppl here will give you a candy and say good job done. OR oh you shouldnt do that but nvm. WTH nvm??? If nvm then i think the roadblock officer will already say nvm.

Sorry TS i knw you sure TULAN and i dun want to do that also. But its best that others who see these WILL NOT ATTEMPT to do wat you have just done. This is a Forum to share safety and technics. Not a CHARITY forum to get advise to get lighter sentence. Lucky you are being stopped and not caught in an accident. I think that is really VERY GOOD enough for you. And god is already very kind to you.

Posted

tho the hostile comment, i gotta agree to wif bernardk. like many i used to treat this as a forum to find comfort for the wrong doings i did and asking for help for a lighter sentence. that was 3-4 yrs back. like many, i couldnt remember the number of times i had been safe, yet i can clearly remember all my near death experience, speeding experience and the times i tested the law. i got my class 3 revoked a few yrs back due to speeding and until recently did i get it back. fortunately enough, i never met an accident where i hit or kill anyone and looking back i realised that fate has been kind to me. mistakes can be made, its what that make us grow and mature. revoking of a class is not a big deal cuz worse stuff could have happen. so take it as an experience, cuz a license can be obtain back again, but a life lost will never be returned again. ride safe, think straight

actually.... think about it... getting a license is really so hard in singapore. not like in other countries where u can actually either pay for it in cash or take a really simple lesson cum test to get ur license.

but losing it is actually so easy.......... imagine (on average) u take half to 1 year to earn your license.... all u need is a moment of (not folly) but stupidity to lose everything u earned. the odds will always be against u here. that's why i think 10 times or more before i speed, cos i dont want to lose my class 3 by speeding on a 2B!

before u do something stupid like drunk drive/ride or speeding, just think about what you'll lose. you'll be lucky if u lose just ur license. what if u lose ur GF who pillions behind u? or ur wife and kid who sits at the back seat of the car? or someone's parents at the pedestrian crossing? imagine u kill these ppl.... but u get away injured.

being on the roads means u have a responsibility to be safe and think about ur consequences, not commit the mistake and look everywhere (like SBF) for some form of comfort. u dare to speed means u must also have the balls to take full responsibility should anything happen. when i told my granduncle that i bought a new albeit small cc bike, he said "good enough. cos it still takes u from point A to point B."

to all speed demons be it driving or riding:

- want to speed illegally, dont even buy ur car/bike.

- want to speed legally, do it on the track.

i apologise for any tinge of hostility in my postings if there is any.

but the point i wish to make clear is that even though condominium car parks are not considered public access roads & therefore the offender cannot be charged, there are still people, young & old who access it on a daily basis. they have their rights to be there & no one should be driving or riding in that area without the valid class of license.

i have absolutely no qualms abt the peeps who transport their unregistered dirt bikes to some designated or remote place & have fun riding there. i believe those places r considered inaccessible to the general public. but not a condominium car park.

i hope i have made my point clear enough & no, i am not here to flame. i just do not wish for some wannabes to think that private car parks are not under police jurisdiction & thus repeating the same cycle again, risking to run some innocent passerby down. what fun is there in going round & round in a MSCP or basement car park? why not get it done & over with, get that license & enjoy the ride on the outside? wouldn't that be much better than a moment of folly? cheap thrills most often comes with a heavy price tag...

Guys,

i'm in a world of ****. yesterday night i rode my newly bought super4 out for supper, on my way back i encountered a road block. of cos i couldn't produce insurance and i dun have 2a (my 2a tp is next mth). he say he will summon me for riding without valid licence and without insurance and my case will be referred to tp.

does anyone here noe exactly wad are the penalties of these charges?

and can anyone here pls give me some advice of how to mitigate these charges? i know the consequences are grave (probably all classes of licence gantung plus heavy fine) and it was a moment of folly, but things have already happened and i hope i can do some damage control.

thanks a million in advance.

Riding without insurance & without a valid licence is seriously crazy.

If you had been involved in an accident, there is no insurance to cover you and especially the other party.

Count it as a blessing, that you never got into an accident (because if you did the other party can sue you) and you're only losing your licence. Get it back after a year.

The next time, be patient. It's just too easy to lose your licence in Singapore.

i dont know what to say, but i will pray hard that nobody ever does this again,

and that if this is to happen again, no accident will be involved.

Hi!!

Mine is just like you...

It depends on the TP investigating officer..

If you're lucky, he'll give you a stern warning if not

you'll be charge in court.

In court, the DPP will present your case to the judge

and you will have a chance to mitigate.

If you have $$, hire a lawyer, if not be prepare to lose all your license

and get disqualified plus fine. If you dont pay the fine, 1K = 1week in hotel california.

Disqualification, depends on severity or your case. I got 1 year.

in dis case, d officer-in-charge WILL NOT giv a stern warning..

dey will charge u in court, so dat dey cn GIV A STERN WARNING to others nt to do dis stupid act..

u cn throw ur $$ n hire a lawyer but it wun spare u frm getting ur license revoke, trust me... d most, ur lawyer cn ask for reduce in fine n yrs of disqualified...

but to hire a lawyer so dat u cn kp ur license, i cn juz sae, DREAM ON!~! 0% u cn hv ur license bck..

ouh u cn hv ur license bck, after d revoke period is over, retake evryting frm scratch till u pass ur 2b license..

dun 4get to put on d P-plater.. gd luck...

when it comes to the law, it is either black and white, so no arguing if it is right or wrong, so riding in condo is definitely wrong even if patrol cars dont go in and check...

Even if riding in condos is usually at a 3kmh pace to warm up the bike, the speed and whether there is a real risk to others is irrelevant - whats wrong is wrong, no 2 ways about it.

It is the same as crossing the road not at the pedestrian crossing which can cause harm to motorcyclists, your family and yourself, or throwing bits of paper poked out of parking coupons on the floor. All wrong and illegal.

But if patrol cars or the tp actually visit condo car parks to check if someone has poked in a bike key into the keyhole when he actually should not, i am actually very happy, because that means, the crime rate has really dropped in singapore.

on paper is malaysia land, but under jurisdiction of singapore laws. so anything that happens in there, are still enforced under singapore laws.

remember the case whereby there was a bar or nightclub operating in KTM itself couple of years back? singapore police stepped in and intervene the operations..
