winston how much u got those?

Ventus RS2@ $SGD170x4 after trading in my CSC2

Brought the car to the track in Johor circuit for a spin. Good for both wet and dry. Fantastic. Brought my timing down by 4 secs on the dry day.

The tyre was worn to steel cords. Replaced it immediately to Ventus Prime@$156x4 after trading in my RS2. Good too. jB drove my car on the NSHW and he made some flattering remarks.

The 32% discount is now over. But their 20% discount is still available.

0.o? 1 track day u finish off a set of tires?

2 days. It was raining on the first day. Somehow impaired the performance of the tyres. But still not too bad. It was brilliant on the 2nd day during the dry day. Excellent track event. Just drove round and round non stop. It was so addictive.

wah ur session how many hours sia... even i use PS2 wouldn't kill off in just 2 days

1 hr each with hardly any break. Even when I pit in, I stop briefly for a quick drink to prevent dehydration and off I go. The tarmac in PG is known for their ghastly appetite for tyres. If you keep driving non stop and pushing it hard, chances for the tyre to wear till the steel cords exposed is not impossible. Especially the near side front tyre. Moreover I was using a soft compound tyre like the Ventus RS2. That's why it's very recommendable to check the tyres after every hour to ensure the condition is acceptable. Otherwise when catastrophe strikes, no one will pity people like you and me. Willing party on the idemnity form.

yea true... i am impress u can push it non stop and with a short break. doesn't ur oil temp rise?

I have no specific details on the oil pump operating pressure, heat transfer rate, lubricating properties etc. so I use the specified type of engine oil as recommended by factory. And there were no problems with my engine operating temperature. I didn't fool around with my turbo charger so I am OK. As for the transmission, the oil is designed to cool the clutch and gears. So no worries.

Once you are inside the racetrack, you don't want to leave it. You will just go on and on until 'bitte tanken' appears on my panel. But 1 hour is not enough to deplete my massive tank.

There is only 1 type of gear oil I can use. I think the spec was supported by Esso. It has to suit the Borg Warner clutch I am using. But anyway, after visiting some oil suppliers, many of these oils are the same thing under different brand names. And the branding sells.

amazing, u mean the same oil are used but just different vendor bought it over and put it under their own brand right? Tell me more man! i hardly have any chance to visit these suppliers

Some aren't. But many of the oils are the same. Some just buy in IBC container and repackage it. That's the furthest I can reveal. Just think those who are not oil manufacturers themselves selling oils? Doesn't make sense right?

But the good thing is that these non oil manufacturing companies retailing oils will sell you the oil with the correct specification for their equipments. So customers don't fool around with the hydraulic contents. But yet you will still find funny people trying funny oils.

I am no oil expert. But being in the auto line for some years, I know there's a reason why manufacturers make a certain recommendation. And I will not try to be a smart alec to challenge them with formulas originating from old wives tales. So I will use what the manufacturers recommend.

remind me never to buy any of your cars, hoho.

hohoho the cars I like are not in your league so don't worry.

That's why I always adhere to a stringent maintainance regime. I don't want my parts to go bust. I seen some cars with usage less severe going bust quickly. Many because of blind modification. I've got customers who commented, "The world is filled with different types of people." And he goes on to dismantle the state of the art electronic dampers from the GTR to make way for the primitive manually adjustable dampers which he is not even sure if it's designated for the GTR. I always check the car parts carefully before moving into the purchase. This helps me to choose the best car for my limited buck. Just like a reason why I avoid the cars meshed with the DSG7 is because of the limited torque transferable for this dry twin clutch system. And also why I stick to German cars because of the privileged access I have to their parts and some of the useful but confidential technical information. I am not saying the rest are no good. But it depends where I make a living.

As I continue to stay in this industry, I start to learn more. And a disturbing fact I found is that the more I know, the more I realise I know too little. So this industry never fails to thrill me with new things.

any one change their tyres in jb?

If you are not using high performance tyres, JB is definitely a cheaper place for

tyres that are 14" are below.

or do tyre rotation?

There are many tyres shops in JB, Sentosa area that are specialised tyres shops. They are able to carry out computerised alignment, and high speed balancing.

However, if you are driving a car which is not common in Malaysia, before going down with your car, do check with these shops if they have the alignment specs of your car/model.

Of course if you are running some aggressive alignment specs, they can always key in these inputs, and carry out the alignment accordingly.

Typically, for RM70, you get the works, ie. four wheel alignment (if that's applicable to your car), rotation of tyres (if necessary), and on car high speed balancing for all wheels.
