For Category C of motorcycles and scooters, the monthly quota will be cut by about 10 percent,

Looks like the motorcycle COE prices will be on the rise once again.

What I cant understand is, with our crowded roads. What logic is there in cutting the motorcycle population and INCREASING the car population.

Of course, apart from money..... :sian:

Motocuclist are voiceless.

That is why they like to punish use with limited COE causing the price to rocket sky-high.

I say the main problem is those foreigner's bikes that is causing the jams.

Else I can NEVER fanthom how the heck can more bikes on the road cause traffic jams.

Unless of course the bike kena accident, directly causing trafiice jam lah.

I am extremely sad that there is no logic in the bike COE quota...except to generate more money for the LTA.

Imagine 2000 COE at $1 each, meaning monthly revenue is $2000.

or 1200 COE at $800 each, monhtly revenue is $960000.

Money talks...bullshit walks.

There's a good reason here (assumed).

It's a basketball game the rich people play.

Higher management people are rich drivers. Rich people needs to cover the loss they incurred when COE for cars dipped in recent years. Inorder to do that, they push the liability to the bikers (the poor people).

Everything in singapore is like a chain-reaction with money as the root of the cause. Poor people are the ones who're always sufferig.

I don't see how increasing the supply of car COE's, which will push the price down, will increase the revenue for the government. But it definitely screws up the environment more because cars are inherently more pollutive by burning more fuel.

for the really rich people, COE costs are peanuts.

things are never so simplistic la. revenue is the last thing on the govt's minds. there're so many other things to consider, e.g. perceived standard of living (tied to car ownership), increased ability of SG roads to support more cars by using ERP system (so people might own a car, but not drive it all the time), discouraging bike ownership (accident risk?), discouraging renewal of old bike COEs (safety + pollution concern; no problem for cars since few cars are renewed already), etc etc.

pollution/environment: i don't think this is a concern yet, for our govt. and i can see why: so few cars, all so new, good public transport. we have pretty clean air. 10% more or less bikes won't make such a difference.

Look at now.

I guess we never get to dream that COE can hit at current rate of 4k-4.5k

a normal cub will cost around 10k and a super nearly 20k.
