I think 16k, you can check belt, gear oil and stuffs inside there. For mod you can change End can, air filter, short screen, mirror, grip, bulbs, foot board, add air charger, suspension, fork suspension, wrap seat, re-paint, roller weight, variator and re-paint. :cheeky: For silverwing there are not much you need to mod, the scoot is really all that you need. Cosmetic wise is also nothing much, all very minor you can do.

Why not meet up with the guys and they can show you some secrets.....maybe. :cheeky:

apart from the http://smileys.on-my-web.com/repository/Animals/animals-32.gif and TCSS, its also a good time to see what enhancements others put into the already very smooth SW :shades:

also hope to see the new SWT400 or GT there

if weather allows and our expert agrees, we'll get someone to demo something simple like:

. air-screw synchronisation

. adjusting idling revs

. changing sparkplugs

too bad cannot do change of eo/filter or coolant... whahahaha

the beauty of SW is that its a pretty complete maxi-scoot, with a few minor flaws that could be overcome with after-market parts :thumb: no bike is 100% :p some SWingers kept their bikes stock all they way.

but if you really want to make the good bike even better or more comfortable by spending a little of year-end your bonus, here's 10 "not so expensive" enhancements that could potentially give immediate results (IMHO):

1) the first i will always recommend is to fit a loud horn, eg. stebel, hella electric horn (air-horns are not approved by lta), costs about $40 (including installation). can also buy horn (about $20) and then DIY. most drivers drive with windows wound up (enjoy air-con mah) and stereo playing. the stock horn is sometimes like mosquito buzzing and hardly noticeable. my stebel magnum 2 has saved my ass many times from drivers who refuse or "forget" to check blind spots.

2) change front fork springs to hyperpro, costs around $300 with installation & oil. this will improve handling by a lot as the SW's stock springs are pretty soft to "kup coner" comfortably.

3) at the same time when changing fork springs, add fork seal protector.

4) change to denso IUH-24 or IUH-24D irridium spark plugs, costs about $40 a pair include installation. cheaper if buy from LAB and DIY change. gives you better sparking/combustion, thus better FC & throttle response.

5) change to heavy handle-bar balancer, costs about $35 a pair. heavier balancers help reduce the vibrations on the handlebar, giving better comfort.

6) change to K&N air filter, about $130 include installation. better airflow helps combustion and thus response. proven to give better FC at higher end, especially when touring.

7) change stock tyres to diablo scoot, or feelfree (SW9000 tried and seems to give better grip) if willing to pay more. the diablo seems to be the most value for $$ tyre for SW, one of the cheapest (about $165 a pair including installation & front balancing) but yet gives good grip. many of us are on it for touring (both dry & wet conditions) and happy with it. i didn't realise that i "kupped" corner up/down genting & cameron highlands till the wear marks reach the tyres edge... told myself not to do that again :p

8) add a hazard light, costs about $45 at motorshops (switch and installation included). this is a very useful and safety function especially when we stop by the roadside to answer a call or for touring.

9) can consider adding power abuser 2, or raizin voltage stabiliser or revtec plus grounding. such products claim to improve throttle response, pickup, FC, etc. but these are very controversial items coz many believes while many don't. personally, i've got PA2 in my SW and raizin in my car. wouldn't call myself a believer but try try lor... whahahaha. i can't really agree with the science behind these products but my butt dyno did felt some difference

10) rewrap the stock seat with non-slip materials, costs between $70 to $90 depending on material and workshop, more if designs added. pvc material used for the stock wrap could be a little slippery when wet, especially when rider is wearing rain pants. its also kinda "burning hot" when bike is parked under the sun for some time. together with re-wrap, can add a backrest onto topbox for pillion's comfort, costs about $45 to customise one or can get the ready-made piaggio's (can try to find 2nd hand).

with more budget, you can consider the more capital intensive stuffs like exhaust full-system, rear shocks, etc.

happy modding :cheeky:

hi all,

im enquiring the OTR price of SW400.

Was told there are ABS and non ABS version, and are they from Japan or US?

Thanks

There used to be 2 version of the silverwing here. Japan SW and the EURO SW, there is no US Version. If you enquire from Boon Siew, theirs is EURO version. If you enquire from some motortiam who import in themself, then that could be from Japan. Both version also have ABS and non ABS version, but Boon Siew one I think they dont bring in the ABS version.

The best way is to look at the ignition key console. If there are 2 holes(1 is key input hole the other is a closed hole) then its the JAPAN version. If there is only 1 key input hole then its the EURO version.

The last I know was $17k +- OTR, that was early last year.

If you are talking about the lastest Version of SW400 which is named SW-T400/SW400GT then I have no idea liao.

You can also read this thread for more info http://www.singaporebikes.com/forums/showthread.php?t=113114

Hope it helps.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

thanks 867k,

i was at loois yesterday and notice the sliverwing, it was called silverwing GT, with 2 headlights similar to the tmax. Looks expensive to me...(didnt dare to ask the price).

But i didnt notice the keyhole config, so cant really tell its Euro or Japan, i guess it doesnt really matter, dont they.

The bike looks big, so i thought it was a 600, until mr loois corrected me that its a 400. wow, it was huge and almost unbelievable.

If the price of $17k OTR is indeed true, wonder are there any buyers so far? The Tmax is only at the price of $18k OTR, but specs and performance are quite different.

Comments anyone?

Thanks

There will always be buyers. I have seen a SW-T/GT on the road before, just like I have seen a 250cc majesty sports version. It all depends on what you need in your ride. :)

our bike is like a dog, it needs to be brought out for a runabout from time to time to stay healthy :p

took scoob out for a run to melaka today... its running much smoother after clearing the accumulated "dirt" (aka carbon) :thumb:

After reading through the tons of SW pages, I conclude that:

A. It's not more reliable than Majesty, Burgman, Piaggio or other similiar maxi scooter

B. But parts are easier to get as it's popular and hence more units otr

But if one have to stock up parts oneself in case no spares, doesn't it invalidates point B ?

It's not about no spares. Since the coil will spoil sooner or later, they're just thinking to MO to save cost.

Anyway, all maxi-scoots got their own minor problems.

Silverwing in stock condition only got 1, which is the soft front fork. Some can live with it then it is no issue liao.

The wear and tear are similar to all bikes.
