On "paper" T-max has 40Hp whereby SW 600 has 49Hp.

T-max has a dry weight of 200kg...not sure about SW 600 but heard its about 220~230kg.

Shouldnt SW 600 produce more power & speed than T-max?

Hmm...

Tmax power at 32kw@6500rpm where as SW600 37kw@7500rpm.

Tmax torque at 47.6NM@4850rpm while SW600 50NM@6000rpm.

Thus Tmax requires lower rpm to reach similar power as SW600.

But hor... SW supposed to be 100cc more?

Anyway, SW600 is heavy and all the weight is at the rear.

Tmax weight distribution more centred (similar to street bike) that allows for better handling (that's what ppl says).

In terms of comfort level. Swing is definitely better.

When u need to "eat wind" everyday. I guess Swinger win hands down.

Local (sgp) city traffic, 600 is a literal petrol addict >.<. should be good enough>

vstrom, tdm also good commute right? :cheeky:

but yeah, in terms of comfort, 2-up, swing definitely better. best commute bike due to comfort and storage space.

btw, i think I spotted scoobydoo towards expo.. SIM exams?

Hi guys, I face a few minor prob regarding my JDM Silverwing..The overdrive is not working..dun knw wat's the prob.Back suspension feels soft. Ever pillion my fren who weighs ard 75kg, a small uneven road and the whole back of the bike is like gog down like tat. Paiseh, dun reali knw hw to describe but juz tat the suspension is soft. Any way to change or stiffen it? Last prob is the "V" light sometimes light up after I crank the bike to start then go off. Wat's the prob? The bike dun reali feel stable when gog at 110km/hr and above. Used to ride a Transalp 400..doesn't feel tat way..maybe nothing to grip in between. Is it the bike or juz me? Will changing all the rollers, belting help? Does variator play a part too?

Sorry for the long post. Hope can get some advice frm seniors here.

Go visit Kallang Cycle Ah Choong to harden the rear suspension.

He can also adjust the front suspension to make it more stable.

SW can safely cruise at 140km/h with no stability issue unless your steering cone, wheel bearings, tires etc got problems.

Get it check quick.

me no senior but can share something about the SW... green ;)

The overdrive is not working..dun knw wat's the prob.

better to get this checked by the mechs as overdrive mode is controlled by ECU and may be tricky.

Back suspension feels soft. Ever pillion my fren who weighs ard 75kg, a small uneven road and the whole back of the bike is like gog down like tat. Paiseh, dun reali knw hw to describe but juz tat the suspension is soft. Any way to change or stiffen it?

SW is known for its soft front n rear shocks, probably a design for more comfort. for small light-weight riders, the rear's softness is less felt.

a) first thing to check is your rear shocks' pre-load level settings; 1 is softest, 5 is hardest. baring rusts or dirt getting in the way, settings may be changed by bare hands (no tools required) holding and turning the pre-load assembly (turnable bottom section). if you intend to carry heavy pillion regularly, set to 5.

it is very important to ensure that settings are at same level for both shocks or handling safety will be compromised.

b) springs will weaken due to material fatigue and becomes softer over the years. this is when modification or replacement (stock or aftermarket) comes in.

. . b1) pre-load may be further increased by modifying the pre-load assembly; usually increasing the length by replacing the "ring" or using an add-on unit. this is the inexpensive mod which ah choong can do for you (as suggested by SW9000).

. . b2) if you're in the mood of splurging, can consider replacement... either to the stock (if you don't like stiff shocks) or aftermarkets like the hagon shocks (some may find them a little too stiff for comfort).

Last prob is the "V" light sometimes light up after I crank the bike to start then go off.

the V indicator is not a diagnostic sensory unit but a "distance based reminder". it is designed to light up every 24k kms, a reminder to owner that its time to change/service the V-belt transmission assembly. if your odometer is near/at the 24k kms intervals, then resetting the counter when v-light is on may be sufficient; procedure is listed in the owners' manual (or see the tech thread).

is this what you encounter?

if yes, change the batt and problem should go off.

the SW in this clip also had its v-light on then off during startup

The bike dun reali feel stable when gog at 110km/hr and above.

my suggestion is same as SW9000's, defective or too soft suspensions may also be a cause of the instability.

Will changing all the rollers, belting help? Does variator play a part too?

that's the transmission assembly, they affect engine-to-transmission performance (e.g. pickup, belt grip n acceleration, smooth riding, etc.) but unlikely on stability, unless the resulting vibration is at astonishing levels to shake to bike off its balance :p

as for petrol indicator, my 1st bar usually goes off around 70~80+km, half mark around 170~190km, and blinker kicks in around 280+~300+km (best record was around 310km)... average FC around 25km/L.

riding pattern probably 90% highway, 10% city, no strong wrist take-offs, regular cruise speed on h/w about 90kph (5k rpm is a very fuel efficient level), bike aided by iridium sparkies, PA2, sometimes FP60 and a lightweight 62kg ass :D
